D., he was united in marriage to Rosemary (Judkins) Brown. He received his education in Woodland, Calif., and graduated from Woodland High School. He served in the United States Army. Most of his life, he spent working in electrical line construction as a groundman. From 1972 until 1984, he and Rosemary published a paper known as Dew Drops. Research Note: She was the daughter of Foster and Margie (Baldwin) Judkins. On October 13, 1970, she was united in marriage to Joseph "Joe" Garzon who preceded her in death on June 23, 2006. Also preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Mark, Meryl and Monte and one grandson, Israel. Rosemary grew up and received her education in New Castle, Indiana. She had resided in Broadview, Montana prior to moving to Exeter in 1984. She was a homemaker and from 1972 until 1984, published a paper called Dew Drops. She continued writing a paper called Dew Upon The Roses which was sent out just prior to her death. Isaac Gaskins married Cordelia Robbins on June 3, 1875 in Barry Co., MO. - July 6, 1907, Saturday, Cassville Democrat - A Birthday Surprise: A number of relatives conceived the idea of paying Mrs. Isaac Gaskins of Exeter, a surprise visit and giving her a dinner on Sunday, June 30, 1907, the occasion being her 53rd birthday. It was arranged to get her away from home, and on her return home she was overwhelmed with joy, at having all her relatives visit her and it soon dawned on her, what the object of the visit was for. The day was pleasantly spent and the splendid dinner and supper was enjoyed by the visitors. The relatives present were: Thos. Hobson and Mr. Burr and family of Exeter, Jos. Robbins and wife of Pleasant Ridge township, Milus Robbins and wife, Benton Robbins and family, Jos. White and family, of Cassville, Calvin Grimes and family of Webb City, W. W. Witt and wife of Cassville were the only persons present that were not relatives. Haddock left for Stroud, Okla., Saturday evening in response to a message, to be at the bedside of her mother, Mrs. W. E. Gifford, who is dangerously ill. Mr. and Mrs. Gifford formerly resided northeast of town. - Obit for Nancy's husband: - April 6, 1916, Thursday, Cassville Republican - W. E. Gifford died April 1, 1916, age 75 years and 2 months. He had been in ill health for some time. For many years he made his home southwest of Exeter, but moved to Stroud, Okla., about six years ago. He was a true and faithful Christian until the end. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Eva Edens of Neosho, and Mrs. Grant Rhine of Exeter, and two sons Alva Gifford of San Francisco, Cal., and Edgar Gifford of St. Louis. Only one daughter was able to attended the funeral. His many friends sympathize with the bereaved family in their dark hour of grief. - William E. Cassville Republican, March 24, 1938 - Resident of County All of His Life - James Goostree, one of Barry county's successful farmers, passed away at his home about three miles north of Exeter, Saturday, March 19, 1938, following an illness of several months. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Exeter, Monday afternoon, March 21. A very large crowd attended the funeral. Six nephews, sons of the late John Goostree, brother of Mr. Goostree, were the pallbearers: Horace, Ozzie, Homer, Otis, Dennis and Floyd Goostree. Burial was made in the Maplewood cemetery at Exeter. James Franklin Goostree was born on Shoal Creek in Barry County, northwest of Exeter, July 13, 1860. his age 77 years, 8 months and 6 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Frona Antle, March 13, 1887. To them five children were born, two of whom preceded him in death. Surviving of the immediate family are the widow, and three sons: Emmett, Walter, and Alton, all of this community. He is also survived by two grand children, and a sister, Mrs. Vesta Brattin who lives at McAllen, Texas. Cassville Democrat - Graveside services for Roy E. Griffith, 55, Cassville, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter. Burial is under direction of Williamson of Cassville. Mr. Griffith died at 5:50 a.m. Wednesday at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville, Ark., after a long illness. Mr. Griffith was a retired hair stylist and a Baptist. He had lived in Cassville the past six months, having moved here from St. Augustine, Fla. Survivors include his wife, one son, one daughter, Miss Frances Griffith, Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, James, Vista, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. Helen McGinnis, Kansas City, Kan. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. - His wife was Jessie Lea Jones. In 1944, she married Roy E. Griffith. To this union two children were born. In 1952, she married Junior Glendon Wright who preceded her in death in 1997. To this union six children were born. Research Note: He was the son of Ira and Erie Grimes in Washburn, Missouri where he was raised with six brothers and sisters. He married the love of his life, Lou Ann Lawson Grimes on May 15, 1959. Johnny was a long time Broken Arrow Resident, moving here in 1967 from Wichita, Kansas to go to work for American Airlines. He retired from American Airlines in December 1997. He also served proudly as a member of the Oklahoma Air National Guard based in Tulsa for 20+ years retiring in June 2002. He was preceded in death by wife, Lou Ann Grimes July 2, 2011 and daughter, Cindy Dawn Grimes Davis January 4, 2018. Services are pending at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Married Lillis Ann Miller on March 18, 1907. - Cornelius Monroe Gurley, son of Eliza and Newton Gurley, was born near Purdy, MO., May 4, 1879. He passed away at his home in Exeter February 5, 1949, at the age of 69 years, nine months and one day. Most of his life was lived in Barry County. In 1907, he was united in marriage to Lillis Miller. To this union three children were born. Two sons passed away in infancy. In 1928 he professed faith in Christ, and united with the Baptist church at Exeter, where he remained a faithful member until death. Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Norma Smith of Exeter, two brothers, Mack Gurley of Butterfield and H. H. Gurley of Wilmington, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. Tom Shoopman of Bristow, Okla., and Mrs. Emma McClure of Mineral Springs.
