Bacon Charles Taylor | June 21, 1855 IA |
Apr. 1, 1925 Washburn, Barry Co., MO |
Inscription: "At Rest" - Research Note: He was a farmer, father not known, mother, Henrietta Saur born Germany. Cause of death was complications of flu. His wife named as Mrs. C. T. Bacon and was the informant on the death certificate. - He was the son of Edwin Bacon and Magdalena Henrietta (Sanchez) Tereso. His wife was Winnie Elizabeth Stater. - Possible news item: Mrs. Taylor Bacon was in town Tuesday evening. She said the only news was that it was cold weather, but admitted that she had sold 2,200 lbs of butter this year that had brought her 40 cents a pound or $888. from few cows on a rough 40 acre farm. She had a large bucket filled with eggs, which probably pays the grocery bill. There are a few calves and a bunch of hogs also kept on this place, which shows that you can do business on this rough land at a profit, with less expense that on the higher priced farms - if you have the know how. There is room in the Greasy Creek country for over 1000 more such farmers as Mr. and Mrs. Bacon and you don't need a fortune to make a start. | Death Certificate Online Newspapers Census Phyllis Long Photo Fred and Neoma Sherman |

In order that the same thing may be said of them, when the time comes for their passing. He was wealthy in honor, up rightness, integrity, temperance, fortitude, prudence and justice, and love for his God. His every desire was to do good and it was very pleasing to him to see people doing good. His splendid life is before us and we say that it is worthy of imitation, because of its splendidness. His daily walk was an index to his life and these of his home town that knew him best will attest to his excellent qualities as a man and citizen. John Newton Barr was born Dec. 24, 1847 in Bradley County, Tenn., and was a son of Mr. Jas. A. and Susan Bear, who moved to Barry County in 1852, and located on Shoal Creek, where they lived and died many years ago, and the decedent was resided from a lad of five years to manhood. He assisted in organizing the first Union Sunday School in Exeter, and was its Superintendent for twenty-one years. He had lived in Exeter, for thirty-six years and was held in high esteem by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. For years he operated a blacksmith shop at that place. Later, he had engaged in the hardware business. As an evidence of the esteem in which he was held, there assembled a very large crowd of people at the Baptist Church in Exeter, June 8, where funeral services were conducted by Rev.'s. C. M. Smith and Chas. Vanzandt, after which the remains were interred to Maplewood Cemetery at that place. | Headstone Cheryl Note Gerald Haddock Death Certificate Online Newspapers Phyllis Long Photo Fred and Neoma Sherman |
