Erma is buried at Monett IOOF Cemetery. - Cassville Democrat, Jan. 17, 1930 - JENKINS MAN KILLED IN FALL, LIVES BUT FEW HOURS AT SPRINGFIELD AFTER ACCIDENT LAST FRIDAY: Ernest Perryman of Jenkins died in a Springfield hospital last Saturday morning at five o'clock following injuries sustained the day before, when he fell from his Dodge car, as he was traveling on his way home, near the Patterson chicken farm, 3 miles west of Springfield on highway 66. Mr. Perryman with C. V. Wheat and Raymond Taylor of Aurora were en route home in a Dodge coupe, according to information given by Dr. Murry C. Stone, coroner by the latter two. Mr. Perryman who was driving had just passed another machine. As he turned back to the right side of the pavement the door of his car opened. Mr. Perryman fell out and stuck the pavement. Mr. Wheat said he grabbed the steering wheel and stopped the car, but not until it had collided with another auto coming toward Springfield driven by T. H. Burns, a tourist of Wisconsin. Both cars were damaged considerably, but only Perryman was injured. Knocked unconscious, Mr. Perryman was taken to the hospital in an Alma Lohnmeyer ambulance. He never regained consciousness. Dr. C. W. Russell took X-ray photographs of the injured man but they failed to show any injuries. A post mortem operation was scheduled by Coroner Stone Saturday afternoon to be followed by an inquest at the Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home. In company with the above name men, Perryman had been attending the canners convention in Springfield. News of his untimely death will be received with sorrow by his many friends over this county where he had lived practically all his life. Mr. Perryman was born and reared in this county and had always taken a prominent part in public affairs. He was progressive and well liked by many acquaintances. He has engaged in school teaching, farming, stock buying, and mercantile business and at the time of his death, was one of the county's large cannery operators. He operated several factories in the east part of this county. Mr. Perryman was kind and accommodating man and had many friends. He had always lived in the Jenkins country many years and favorably known throughout the county, and ranked among the county's best citizenship. His loss will be a severe loss to his community. He leaves his grief stricken wife and some brothers and sisters to mourn his passing. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon after which the remains were laid to rest in the Leann cemetery with Masonic honors by the Aurora lodge of which he was a member. Mr. Perryman?s father and two brothers met untimely deaths in auto accidents a year ago when they were killed suddenly when their truck overturned, drowning then in a swollen stream, near their home. Mr. Perryman had told his friends and good wife that he would meet with a sudden and accidental death; and had told Mrs. Perryman, it is said, how he wanted to be laid away. Despite the incitement weather and bad roads, several of his Cassville friends attended the services, Tuesday afternoon, and many beautiful floral emblems were received by the family. The Democrat extends sympathy to the grief stricken family. | Cemetery Directory Mitch Mitchell Death Certificate Online Obit MO Marriage Records Phyllis Long Photo King Funeral Home Jay Trace |
