Research Note: Died from Alzheimer's Disease. His wife was Margaret Cummins. William "Bill" Carr was born and raised in Fall River, Massachusetts. After he served in the Air Force, he moved to the midwest to complete his college education and become a teacher. It is the midwest where he met Margaret Cummins of Pierce City, Missouri. The pair then married and moved out to California where they both became teachers, bought a home, and settled for the remainder of their careers. Bill and Margaret were lucky enough to have the opportunity to travel the world many times over. They also made frequent trips back to Missouri to visit Margaret's extended family. After retirement they purchased and placed a cabin on the property where Margaret and her sister, Rachel Cummins Frazier grew up. Bill and Margaret were lucky enough to have the opportunity to travel the world many times over. They also made frequent trips back to Missouri to visit Margaret's extended family. After retirement they purchased and placed a cabin on the property where Margaret and her sister, Rachel Cummins Frazier grew up. Bill was a fabulous teacher teaching mostly 6th grade for 35+ years. He was known for his quirky personality, athletic games and his Christmas play - "The Christmas Carol". He enlisted as a private in Company E. 16th Regiment of the Illinois Infantry on May 24, 1861 (age 34) and served three years. He was discharged June 23, 1864 at Springfield, Illinois at the end of his term of service. At the time of discharge he is described as 5 ft. 10 in., dark complexion, grey eyes, and black hair. By occupation when enrolled a cooper (barrel maker). He also did farming. Possible son of Christopher Chapman and Matilda Tingle. He first married Ellen Bridgewater on Jan. 14, 1847 in Scott Co., IN. He was a resident of Stark City, MO. Cause of death was unknown. Doctor would not sign the DC, signed by the coroner. Following an autopsy by two physicians, the Vicena? was sent to the Duncan Laboratory in Kansas City for analysis.
