Aug. 26, 1914 Cassville, Barry Co., MO |
Research Note: He was a son of Lon (Alonzo) Wallen and Anna Reynolds, both born Barry Co., MO. John R. Wallen of Cassville, MO, was the informant. Cholera was the cause of death. - Cassville Republican, September 10, 1914 - Death, that terrible invader, entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Wallen, Aug 25 and claimed for his victim their darling little boy, Garland, and bore him away on His chariot wheels to the silent city of the death. Oh! death what a cruel king, thy palace a sepulcher. They chaplet faded flowers on coffin lids and thou has subdued every land and besieged every city. Thou has kept all thou hast won save Jesus Christ, who alone escaped. Little Garland was so sweet and so beautiful as the flowers that paved his pathway. And, oh, how sad it did seem that blossom so young and sweet would die. While the little one is so greatly missed by loved ones what a comfort in this one promise Jesus has said, "suffer little children to come unto me." Then our sorrow is his eternal gain in joy, peace and happiness. To the bereaved parents, little sisters and little brother we extend our tenderness sympathies, but human sympathy is too inadequate and we would point you to the man of sorrow, as he weeps over the grave of Lazarus and may you like Mary sit low down at Jesus' feet and drink in His words of love and tenderness and feel His healing power and at last enjoy the glory of the immortal life upon which little Garland has already entered. A friend. | Death Certificate Online Obit Phyllis Long Photo Darla Marbut |

Nov. 24, 1916 Cassville, Barry Co., MO |
Research Note: Her death certificate indexed as Mrs. Juddie White on the MO Archives Web Site. According to family history her name was Judith Ann. She was widowed and a daughter of James Walker Huckstep, born TN, and Mother's maiden name was (Martha Ann) Bacon, born VA. W. A. White of Cassville, MO, was the informant. Judith Ann Huckstep married James White on May 13, 1860 in Osage Co., MO. - Notes posted at findagrave.com: Judith Ann (Huckstep) White (1836 - 1916) - Little is known about the childhood of Judith Ann Huckstep. We do, however, know that she was born December 29, 1836 in St. Louis, Missouri. Judith married James William White and they had seven children. In their birth order they are as follows: Sherwood, Walker, Clarence, Henrietta (Etta), Emma, Eugene, Nancy, and Ralph. According to her daughter, Etta, she was an active hard-working person, a strict disciplinarian, a good housekeeper, of French descent with dark hair and eyes. Judith and James often entertained large groups of people after church on Sunday. Her daughter, Etta, often told that Judith would always serve the adults first and the children last. This was the common practice of the day. The most popular meal of that day was chicken. The children always complained that the adults ate all the coveted white meat and left only the dark meat for the children. In later years Judith cared for her granddaughter, Mabel (King) Hamilton. Mabel was the daughter of Evelyn. While visiting her daughter, Etta, and son-in-law, Charles in Fresno, Judith's husband, James William died. Some years later Judith died on November 24, 1916 in Missouri. - Notes for husband James William White: James William White was the first son of Elijah and Charity (Francis) White. He was born on May 24, 1830 in Lincoln County, Kentucky. James had a younger brother, Reuben, born in October 1834 and a younger sister, Rebecca Ann, who was born about 1839 in Gasconade County, Missouri. We know that James and his family moved to Gasconade County, Missouri between 1830 and 1835. By 1844 they lived in Osage County, Missouri and they were listed in the 1850 census in that same county at which time James was 20 years old. They owned one horse and one cow. They were listed as farmers. On March 26, 1844, James and Reuben bought land. Both would have been minors at the time. Legal records show that in 1848, Elijah White gave his son, James W. White, permission to go into business for himself. James married Judith Ann Huckstep on May 13, 1860 in Osage County, Missouri. They moved to Jasper County, Missouri about 1882 and later to Barry County, Missouri where they did farming. They bore eight children. Sherwood, 1862, Walker, 1863, Henrietta "Etta," February 25, 1865, Clarence 1866, Emma 1871, Eugene 1872, Nancy 1874, and Ralph 1876. We are not sure just when James moved to California, but we do know that he died on October 21, 1903 in Fresno, California. | Death Certificate Note MO Marriage Records Phyllis Long Photo Darla Marbut |

WILSON, Rylan Luke | Nov. 7, 2003 Joplin, Jasper Co., MO |
May 31, 2023 Springfield, Greene Co., MO |
Research Note: Son of Luke and Cindy (Craig) Wilson. He is survived by his parents; his paternal grandmother; maternal grandparents; one brother; one sister; his fiancé; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and countless special friends. Preceding him in death was his paternal grandfather, Junior Wilson. Rylan grew up and attended school in Cassville, Missouri graduating with honors from Cassville High School in 2022. He attained his CNA license and had been employed by Roaring River Health and Rehabilitation in Cassville for two years and was currently pursuing a nursing degree at Crowder College, with the goal of becoming a nurse practitioner. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Rylan was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, riding motorcycles, all animals, and helping on anyone's farm who needed him. He loved all of God's creation and natural wonders. Rylan was a walking, talking, hugging example of God's love. As a son, brother, grandson, nephew, friend, fiancé, cousin and nursing assistant, he filled many different roles for many different people, but one role he filled for every person he met was Caregiver. Rylan truly cared about people, no matter their age, their background, or their beliefs. Rylan genuinely understood and carried out his duty as a child of God; he showed the love of Jesus to everyone he met. Everyone knew they could count on Rylan to provide the help they needed and a conversation about God. The lives of many, many people were made better because of his presence. As much as he gave in life, he also gave in death. He was a registered organ and tissue donor since the age of 15 and would encourage others to do the same. Rylan was a towering figure, a big guy with an even bigger heart. In spite of his short 19 years on this Earth, Rylan showed a lifetime of love to all of those around him. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him. The cause of death was a motorcycle accident. | Fohn Funeral Home L. Pearce Online newspapers |
