HALE, Ellias Ogburn May 18, 1839 1892 Research Note: The Corps of Engineers only moved 4 graves over to Philibert Cemetery in Stone County, Turner's being one of them, as well as one of his sons, Ellias Ogburn Hale, his son in law, Elijah Clark, one unmarked and one with initials of TJB. - Cassville Republican, March 10, 1892 - From M. S. Carter we learned of the sudden and somewhat mysterious death of E. O. Hale of Viola the 27th. The evening of the 26th, Mr. Hale's brother, A. J. Hale, visited him and remained until about 9:00 o'clock, As his brother was there Mr. Hale neglected to feed some of his stock until about 9:00 o'clock when he said he would go and feed, and the family retired. Between 10:00 and 11:00 O'clock his daughter Vena, missed her father and going to search for him, heard him groaning in the stable where he was found unconscious and though aid was at once called he never spoke and died the next day. From appearances it was surmised he had been foully dealt with by some one he found in the stable who was there with evil content but the doctors pronounced the cause to be apoplexy. - Ellias O. Hale enlisted as a farrier in Company G, Arkansas 1st Cavalry Regiment on July 28, 1862 in Barry Co., MO and survived the war. His wife was Sarah Elizabeth Morris. Note

Jasper Co., MO
Research Note: Phyllis' note: The notes on the front page of Hale Cemetery lists William Thomas Hale which leads one to believe that he is buried there when in fact he is buried at Viola Cemetery. Daughter of James Gaddy and Lydia Green. Gary's note: Tom is buried with his second wife, Louisa Jane Gaddy Hale. His first wife, Hulda Paralee Williams, is buried in the High Cemetery in Carroll Co., AR. He was divorced from both wives at the time of his death. He was known in the area as "Uncle Tom" as were many of the older inhabitants. He owned land in Stone County and considered himself a "laplander", because his land lapped over into Barry. His name was William Thomas Hale, not Tom J., he went by his middle name as did many of his family. William Thomas Hale was the son of Turner Ogburn Hale. - Cassville Republican, December 4, 1924 - W. T. Hale Dead - W. T. Hale one of the old time residents of Barry county passed away Monday at the home of his son, W. R. Hale, in Sarcoxie, having arrived a few days before from Idaho where he had been for some months. We did not learn the cause of his death. "Uncle Tom" as he was familiarly called was one of the old timers of Barry county, but the past few years he had been spending considerable time in California and Idaho with a daughter. But every year or two he came back for a visit with relatives and old friends. He is survived by two sons and one daughter, W. R. Hale of Sarcoxie and Allen Hale of Viola and Mrs. Cora Bray of Idaho. The remains were shipped to Cassville and taken by Horine-Kann Undertaking Company, to Viola Wednesday where interment was made. Note
