MCKEE, Sarah (MCKEE) Apr. 22, 1837
Russell Co., KY?
Dec. 5, 1898
Barry Co., MO
Inscription: "Sarah - wife of George McKee Aged 61 yrs 7 mo 13 dys" - Research Note: The stone is a metal one, with anchors on the sides. Cheryl posted her death date as 1896 - stone reads 1898. She also posted the days as 18 - stone reads 13 days. Stan's Note: Sarah was a daughter of Henry and Elmira (Antle) Hadley. Calculating her birth from info on her headstone gives a date of Apr. 22, 1837. She was born in KY very likely in Russell County. Sarah married George McKee, Mar. 4, 1869 in Barry Co. Pension record of George reads that the marriage was never filed for record at the Courthouse. George was born Jul. 17, in Butler Co., OH. Cassville Republican, Dec 8, 1898 - Mrs. McKee, of Mt. Pleasant neighborhood, died Monday at 3 a.m. aged 61 years 7 months and 27 days. The remains were interred in the Hadley cemetery. The deceased had been in feeble health for about a year. - Stan's Note: George McKee went on to marry secondly Mary A Grubbs, a widow of James Jimerson. George died in 1914 at Purdy, Barry Co., MO according to his pension file. There appears to be no other record for his death and his burial place is unknown. George might have been married once before he married Sarah. Mary Grubbs died at St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., MO, in 1918. Another Photo - Another Photo Headstone
