There is no stone - but the submitter listed a headstone as her source. There was a rusted out funeral home marker found, but there was no name on it. This entry could be in error. Inscription: "Our Mother" - Research Note: Daughter of Eli Haynes and Mary Branson. Second wife of Elijah Waltrip. Elijah Waltrip married Delilah Haynes on Mar. 4, 1851 in Barry Co., MO. According to her son's death certificate she was born in TN and Elijah was born in KY. Stone reads Jan. 13, 1920 as a death date. - Feb. 1892, Cassville Republican - Estate of Elijah Waltrip, dec'd; William F. Horrall, W. M. Carlin and John D. Ferguson appointed Commissioners to set homestead for use of Delilah J. Waltrip. - Wheaton Journal, Jan. 16, 1920 - Mrs. D. J. Waltrip one of the oldest citizens of Barry county died Tuesday evening Jan. 13, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. E. Johnson of Wheaton. Mrs. Waltrip was seriously ill for several weeks before her death which was principally due to old age. She had passed the 84th year of her life, a greater part of which had been spent in Barry county at the old Winthrop homestead northwest of Purdy. Mrs. Waltrip was the mother of eleven children, five of whom were able to be present at the funeral. Those attending the funeral from a distance were: her son J. M. Waltrip of Memphis, Tenn., her daughters, Mrs. Maggie Wilks of Springfield, Mo. and Mrs. J.C. Bowmen of Miller, Mo., and her granddaughter, Mrs. Maud Gillett of Monett. Funeral services were conducted at the home of M. E. Johnson Thursday by J. S. McQueen and again at the Waltrip burial grounds northwest of Purdy by Rev.
