Tulsa World - Nov. 10, 1968 - 'Granny' Sims is Nearly 110 Mrs. Sara (Granny) Sims of Sand Springs, one of Oklahoma's oldest citizens, will observe her 110th birthday Wednesday. Born Jan. 11, 1857, for years before the Civil War began, she moved from her native Little Rock to Prue, Okla., the year of statehood, 1907. Although her sight and hearing are poor and she doesn't get around much because of a hip injury, Granny Sims is ready to "Wait and see" about her 111th birthday. She lives with two daughters, Mrs. E. F. Broam and Mrs. Lillie Young, Sand Springs, and has two sons, 20 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 32 great great grandchildren. Submitted by: Joyce Snell |
