John Dake Long, Union Soldier
John Dake Long, born 1827 in Greene Co., IN. Died 1862? in Barry Co., MO. Buried in Corsicana aka Maddy Cemetery with no stone. BUSHWHACKER STORY: One of Hiram Long's sons was brutally murdered at the same time as he was. We don't know which son it was but John's estate was probated in 1867. Also another brother Henry J. Long's estate was probated that same year so he too may have died at the hands of bushwhackers. Notes: We do know that John Dake Long lived next door to Hiram Long in or about the time that Hiram was murdered. Page 145, Letters of Administration, Barry Co., MO. George Long, Lenard Long, John D.
