Derl Williams, published in 1991 gives his DOB as Apr. 5, 1893 near Madry and died when he was about 2-3 months old and buried beside his brother, Henry. I will write." He then went to Joplin where he remained two days when he concluded he would be needed at home and started back. Rex lived in the Barry-Lawrence County communities his entire life and was a 1947 graduate of Verona High School. He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict, was a dairy and beef farmer. On June 7, 1956, he married Anita Weddington of Monett, in Miami, Oklahoma. During and after high school, Rex was involved in amateur boxing, even achieving the notorious "Golden Gloves" title. He entered the Army in June of 1951, and his boxing career ended when he was shot during his service term.
