Stone has Lathim. Her father was listed as Elias W. Williams, born in TN, and her mother's name as Cynthia Jane LeMaster, born in AR. Bert Williams of Aurora, MO, gave the information. Essie Williams married Will Lathim on Dec. 24, 1908 in Barry Co., MO. At age 35, Will H. Lathim married Thena A. Brookman, age 25, on June 7, 1914 in Barry Co., MO. - March 14, 1912, Cassville Republican - On Death's Roll: The people of Cassville were brought to sudden grief Tuesday morning by the announcement of the death of Mrs. W. H. Lathim of this city. For some time Mrs. Lathim had suffered from diabetes but her ailment was known to few of her friends. She was always about the duties of the home and bore her trouble patiently and for this reason the news of her sudden death came as a shock to her friends. Mrs. Lathim was down town Saturday. She was taken seriously ill Sunday night and died Monday night about 10 o'clock. Mrs. Essie Williams Lathim was born Oct. 1, 1884 and died March 11, 1912, making her 27 years, 5 months, and 10 days old. She was married to William H. Lathim, Dec. 24, 1908. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Williams. Her father died in September 1900, her mother lives in the Clay Hill locality in the north part of the county. She leaves also three sisters. The funeral services were held at the home in this city, Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. F. W. Jones of Stotts City, an uncle of Mr. Lathim. Mr. and Mrs. Lathim have lived in Cassville less than one year but during that short time have made a host of friends. Mr. Lathim has the deepest sympathy of the citizens of Cassville in his great bereavement. He had recently bought a farm south of town and was planning to move to it since his school in the Pasley district has closed. - Plot Stone Headstone

Sept. 1, 1919
Ozark Twp.,
Barry Co., MO
Research Note: Father: Levi H. Smith, Mother: Frances Lemaster. Cause of death: Cirrhosis of liver and Aortic insufficiency. Year of birth on tombstone does not agree with date on death certificate, date of birth is given as Dec. 30, 1853 on death certificate. Jim thinks that this is the Francis A. Smith who married Margaret C. Ellis, Aug. 16, 1871 in Barry County. They are found in the 1880 Barry Co. census with children Effa C., Rachel L. and Alfred A. The recorded age for Francis in that census would make his year of birth 1853. Frank A.'s second wife was Hattie Strong. - Jay's Note: The death certificate reads that he was a married farmer, he died of cirrhosis of the liver, along with aortic insufficiency. He was the son of Levi H. Smith of TN and Frances LeMaster of KY. Informant was C. A. Vaughan of Verona, Lawrence Co., MO. Headstone

Aurora,
Lawrence Co., MO
Inscription: "Our Mother" - Jim Wilson's Note: She was born May 15, 1859 Washburn, Barry Co., MO and died Feb. 16, 1925 in Aurora, Lawrence Co., MO - Harriet Strong Creason was the daughter of James Creason and Nancy Mullins. Harriet S. Creason married Jno. Hains Oct., 21, 1877, in Newton Co., MO. In the 1880 census Harriet Hains lived in McDonald Co., MO, a 21 year-old widow with a son, James D., age 1. On July 23, 1899, Hattie Vaughn and Francis A. Smith were united in marriage by M. L. Robbins, JP, in Barry Co., MO. In the 1900 census, Francis and Harriet Smith and their family lived in Ozark Township, Barry Co., MO, and included in the household were Claude and Benjamin Vaughn, listed as step-sons. I have not found a record for a marriage between Harriett (Creason) Hains and a male by the name of Vaughan (which appears to be the more common spelling of this family's name), although there are Vaughans living in Barry Co. in 1900. Ben Francis Vaughan, born May 30, 1897, lists his nearest relative as Harriet Strong Smith on his WWI registration card. Francis Allan Smith and Harriet Strong Creason had one son, Elvin Edward Smith, June 1, 1900 - May 25, 1976. Headstone
