She managed a restaurant in Decatur, AR, for several years and was a linen department manager for a store in Bella Vista, AR. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Norman. A private graveside service for family will be held at Chitwood Cemetery in Wheaton at a later date. Research Note: John B. Packwood married Mary S. McCary on Dec. 11, 1879 in Barry Co., MO. She was a daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Tennessee Salvina (Peevy) McCary. Probably buried here. Son of John Ira Packwood and Jane Malissa Stamps. - January 7, 1915, Cassville Republican - Dead: John B. Packwood, a highly respected citizen of Shoal Creek, died at his home Monday, Dec. 28, 1914, age 60 years, 3 months, and 21 days. His death was due to complication of diseases. For the past four years he had been in very poor health. His untimely departure was not unexpected by his relatives and friends. The deceased was born in this county on Shoal Creek September 6, 1854. He had lived in that vicinity all his life. In 1874 he was married to Mary McCary, daughter of Ben McCary at Washburn. To them were born nine children seven of whom are living. They are Mrs. Weaver and Samuel Packwood of Shoal Creek, Mrs. John Puett (Prewitt) of Idaho, Mrs. Finis Puett (Prewitt) of near Wheaton, Mrs. Lon Garrison, near Purdy, Hunter and Credie at home. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock in charge of Rev. Dabbs of Rocky Comfort.
