Research Note: He was the son of Luther and Mary "Marie" (Hoggett) Ozbun. He was a 1947 Purdy High School graduate and then went on to college to pursue a degree in Business Agriculture graduating in 1970. Mr. Ozbun enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country proudly for three years including during the Korean Conflict. On July 8, 1951, he married his high school sweetheart, Virgina Lee Patton, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and they spent many wonderful memorable years together. Mr. Ozbun worked for Farmers Home Administration serving as county supervisor for Lawrence and Dade counties and retired in 1987. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mick Ozbun and his sister, Shirley Larkin. SSW: E. J. - Research Note: Mabel's parents were Ananias and Isabella Andrews. Mabel had a brother William Andrews and a sister Elizabeth Andrews that married a Lee. Mabel married Elisha James Ozbun on Sept. 4, 1894 at Mano at her parents home. They Had 4 children Ananias and Luther Ozbun and twin girls Eva and Iva Ozbun. Iva died as a infant. They lived at McDowell. - Cassville Democrat Newspaper - June 17, 1937, page 10 - column 6: Mrs. E.J. Ozbun died at the Ozbun home in the McDowell community Friday, June 11 following a long illness. Mrs. Ozbun was about 67 years old. She was a native of Pennsylvania. The family came to Missouri and located and here she was married to Mr. Ozbun. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Bethel Church on Kings Prairie, conducted by Rev. Sherman Erickson. Burial was made in the cemetery at Bethel. Surviving her are her husband, a son, Luther Ozbun and a daughter, Mrs. Joe Evans, all living near McDowell. - Mrs. E.J. Ozbun dies in McDowell Friday. Death came after illness of five years duration; was 68 years old. Mrs. E.J. Ozbun 68, old time and highly respected McDowell lady passed away at her home Friday night following an illness of five years duration. Death being due to a complication of ailments. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Sherman Erickson at the Bethel Church on Kings Prairie Sunday afternoon. This splendid lady was born in Pennsylvania and was married to Mr. Ozbun soon after coming to this section. Research Note: Marshall married Katherine (Writer) Ozbun. They were the parents of 2 Children, Fairie (Ozbun) Cummins and Ralph M. Ozbun, who was killed in action Korean War. Marshall Ozbun was the son of Holloway and Fairie Ozbun. His death certificate reads his mother, Fairy, was Fairy nee Reagon, born in IN and that his father was born in Randolph Co., IN. It listed Katherine, his wife as Katherine Rituer - Writer. - Cassville Democrat, Jan. 25, 1929 - Marshall John Ozbun was born March 9, 1907 and departed this life Jan. 15th, 1929 at his home one and a half mile northeast of McDowell. He was 21 years, 9 months and 6 days old. He was first stricken with the flu, but was improving when he was taken with appendicitis. He was operated on and everything that loving hands could do was done, but in the early morning hour his spirit took its fight. During his sickness he was patient and always had a smile for everyone, and was hopeful for his recovery until just a little while before the end came. He told his companion to raise the babies right and to meet him. He was united in marriage to Miss Kathryn Riter May 25, 1925. To this union were born two children, one daughter and one son. Those left to mourn his passing are his loving wife and two children, his father, H. Ozbun and three brothers. Funeral services were held at the Bethel church conducted by T.L.
