Research Note: He was the son of the late Aubrey and Mildred (Boyd) Henderson. Growing up in Purdy, Gaylon graduated from Purdy High School with the class of 1952. He then furthered his education at Drury University. Gaylon served his country honorably as a United States Marine during the Korean War. During his working years, Gaylon provided for his family as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He then began his career with the Missouri Division of Employment Security. He then worked as a Postman for the Monett Post Office, retiring in 1996 after 24 years of service. Following his retirement, Gaylon served the Purdy School District for 4 years as an AmeriCorps Reading Coach. He was a member and Deacon of the Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church. On June 27, 1954, Gaylon married Sue Davis.
