Depew of Cassville, MO. - Cassville Republican, February 21, 1918 - Mrs. Sarah E. Depew, wife of E. H. Depew, northwest of Cassville, died February 13 of pneumonia, aged 72 years. She was born in Tennessee and was married to Eli Henry Depew in 1876. To this union five children were born, two of whom, Alice and Andrew, died before the mother did. The three living children are William of near Cassville, Mrs. Mary Turner of Granby and Mrs. Eva Mulkey of Sapulpa, Okla. The funeral was held Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. T. She met Wayne at a dance in Miller, Nebraska and married him shortly after. They were happily married 70 years. She has lived in Purdy 30 years. Dorothea was a beloved teacher in Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana and Florida until her well-deserved retirement. Dorothea loved to bake delicious treats and share with whoever visited. She also enjoyed knitting and creating wonderful treasures that we will all have forever. And when she wasn't serving others, she loved to read. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by, her husband Richard Norman Elliott, her daughter Mary Ann Wimberley, her grandson Brian Paul Wimberley and her sister Freda Miller Horn. Surviving Dorothea are a son and daughter; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
