D. and then Union Army as a Private in Co. E, 1st Reg't. Arkansas Cavalry, Aug. 3, 1862 - June 1865. - "Flat Creek, Barry Co., MO. - Aug. 11, 1884 - Hon. W. W. Dudley, Commissioner Pensions Washington D.C. - Sir, In regard to Pension Claim of Johnathan Eden I have to state that Johnathan Eden was sounded by gunshot in left shoulder while engaged in battle on Flat Creek near Clarks Mill Barry Co. Mo about August 1st 1861. He was under command of a Capt. Charles Galloway commander of a Mo. Home Guard company. SSW: Visa - Research Note: His first wife was Visia Vermillion. Second wife was Louisa (Withers) Meador, buried at New Site Cemetery with her first husband, James Thomas Meador. His death certificate names his father as Uriah Vermillion and his mother with the maiden name of Ethridge, both born in OH. He had a brother Reason Vermillion which makes things confusing. According to death certificates for both, they were not twins. He was a retired farmer and his wife was given as Louisa Vermillion.
