Taylor, Charlene Evelyn Buckminster - Charlene Evelyn Taylor, the daughter of Guy and Hazel (Hecker) Buckminster was born June 24, 1920 in Corning, Missouri. She attended Corning Elementary and High School, graduating in 1938.

On November 18, 1939, Charlene was united in marriage to Willis Taylor in Hiawatha, Kansas. They made their home in the Corning area then, in 1972, moved to Rock Port. In 1977, they moved to Fair Oaks Apartments, in Rock Port, when Charlene began working at Pleasant View Nursing Home as a nurse’ aid. In 2005, she became a resident of Pleasant View where she lived to the present time. Willis passed away on September 7, 1984. Charlene passed away Friday, September 28, 2007 at Community Hospital, Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 87 years.
Charlene was a member of the Corning Christian Church.

Besides her parents and husband, Willis, Charlene was preceded in death by a brother, Guy Buckminster, Jr. son-in-law, Leo Erdman, and granddaughter-in-law, Stephanie Erdman.

Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Erdman, Rock Port; one grandson, Jay Erdman and his wife, Lisa, Rock Port, and one granddaughter, Lee Ann Boyle and her husband, Larry, Beaver Lake, Nebraska; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Jackie Moore, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Thacker, Raymond - Raymond Thacker, the son of James Franklin and Katie Bell (Inman) Thacker, was born January 10, 1924 in Tarkio, Missouri. Raymond attended Tarkio country school until the eighth grade and worked in the area until old enough to enter military service. On August 16, 1944, Raymond enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during World War II as a heavy equipment operator in the Construction Battalion on the island of Okinawa, Japan. Raymond received his honorable discharge on June 11, 1946, and returned to Tarkio.

On July 12, 1949 Raymond was united in marriage to Gladie Lois Riley. They continued to live in Tarkio where Raymond was employed by Bartlett Grain Company. In 1952 they moved to Holton, Kansas where Raymond worked for the Holton County Highway Department. In 1958 they moved to Horton, Kansas where Raymond worked for the local grain elevator. Raymond retired after 15 years from Midwest Solvents in Atchison, Kansas as a machine operator. They later lived in Emporia, Kansas and Buffalo, Missouri where Gladie passed away in 1994. Four years ago Raymond moved to Burlington Junction, Missouri where he lived to the present time. Raymond passed away January 14, 2007 at Heartland Hospital, St. Joseph, Missouri at the age of 83 years.

Raymond loved his family and enjoyed the times they had together. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, pitching horseshoes and simply being outside. He was also a creative woodworker and excellent cook.

Survivors include four sons, Benny Ray Thacker and wife Sue, Seymour, Missouri, James Frank Thacker, Horton, Kansas, Marion Edward Thacker, Rockaway Beach, Missouri, Raymon Leon Thacker, Charity, Missouri; one daughter, Katherine Luena Austin, Plymouth, Pennsylvania; Eleven Grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a few brothers and sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife Gladie, Raymond was preceded in death by other brothers and sisters.

Tharp, Norma Evelyn Combs - Norma Evelyn (Combs) Tharp, the daughter of Thomas Herschel and Lucy Jane (Noble) Combs, was born September 8, 1923 in Langdon, Missouri. She attended Langdon country schools in her early years and graduated from Rock Port High School.

Norma was united in marriage to Herbert Donald Tharp on June 28, 1941, and they made their home in Rock Port their entire married life. She was employed for many years as a bookkeeper for Cox Insurance.

Norma was a member of the Rock Port Chapter #440, Order of the Eastern Star. As an active member of the United Methodist Church, Norma belonged to United Methodist Women. She attended a women’s bible study group, served her church in numerous ways, and rarely missed services on Sunday morning. Norma was a board member of the Area Agency on Aging for Northwest Missouri, where she served on numerous committees, helping to ensure services were provided for senior citizens in her community. She also served as treasurer on the Rock Port Senior Center Advisory Committee. Norma was a familiar face at the Senior Center, where she served as a greeter, helped with Meals on Wheels, all fundraisers, brought extra baking from home, and was a dear and loyal friend to everyone there. She enjoyed horses, especially the time spent with Don and her children on trail rides and at horse shows.

Norma was a friendly, giving and caring person, who truly enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and who will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege to know her. She passed away Monday, May 4, 2009 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 85 years.

Norma is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Don. Survivors include one daughter, Donna Lynn, Papillion, Nebraska; three sons, Barry Tharp and his wife, Gloria, Hackett, Arkansas, Steve Tharp, Ralston, Nebraska and Phil Tharp, Lafayette, Colorado; five grandchildren, Jeff and his wife, Jane, Sarah, Julie, Spud and his wife, Mary Cecelia, and Golda; and five great grandchildren, Dillon, Carson, Jake, Roz and Celie.

Services: 10:30 am, Friday, May 8, 2009 at United Methodist Church, Rock Port. Interment will follow at Linden Cemetery, Rock Port. Services under the direction of Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
 
Thiemann, Joye Madeline Elton - Joye Madeline (Elton) Thiemann was born September, 14, 1914 on a farm east of Mound City, Missouri, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (Vandeventer) Elton. She departed this life on December 12, 2006 at the Community Hospital, Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 92 years.

Joye graduated from Mound City High School in 1933 and was also a graduate of the former Castor Beauty Academy, St. Joseph, Missouri. She worked as a beautician until her marriage to Lee Thiemann on July 3, 1943. Lee preceded her in death on January 7, 1998.

They made their home in Independence, Missouri, later moving to Wichita, Kansas where Joye was active in several clubs and helped organize an Antique Club. In 1990, they moved to Tarkio, Missouri where she made her home until having to move to Northview Manor because of her health in June 2005.

Joye was a member of the Tarkio United Methodist Church.

Also preceding Joye in death were her parents, two brothers Dellie H. Elton and Thomas Elton; six sisters Virginia Andes, Noreen Bickel, Francis Bohart, Doris Wilson, Margaret Moulthrop and Betty Cummins; one nephew; one niece and a great nephew.

Survivors include one sister-in-law Betty Elton of Trenton, Missouri; four nephews, Bill Bickel, Bronson Cummins, Cameron Cummins, C.W. Elton; four nieces, Sharon Roberts, Carol Pendleton, Melenna Fillip and Renee Hull; also several great nephews and nieces.

Graveside services and burial were held Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 10:30 a.m., Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax, MO. There was no scheduled family visitation. Memorials may be directed to Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax. Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, Missouri.
 
 

Thompson, Lucy Pearl Bowers - Lucy Pearl Thompson, the daughter of Wesley and Lulu (West) Bowers, was born August 12, 1916 in Barada, Nebraska. As a young girl Lucy attended school in Barada. In 1929, Lucy's parents purchased the Watson, Missouri phone office. Lucy attended and graduated from Watson High School in 1934. She then attended Peru State College for two years.

On November 25, 1936 Lucy was united in marriage to Wayne "Mandy" Thompson by Rev. Ralph Boggs. They became the parents of two sons; Buford Wayne and Ronald Dwight. They were later divorced.

Lucy was a former employee for the Watson Phone Company, for Lee Pemberton at Beaty Grocery and for Kerr's I.G.A. Market both in Rock Port. In 1983, she retired and moved to Maryville, Missouri. In 2002, she returned to Rock Port where she lived to the present time. Lucy passed away Monday 29, 2007 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, at the age of 90 years.

Lucy was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rock Port, the Royal Neighbors of America and the Eagles Lodge, Maryville.

Survivors include one son Ronald Thompson and his wife Marie, Griffon, Georgia, daughter-in-law, Annette Thompson, Riverside, Missouri; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters, one sister, Wanda Miller, Republic, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents Lucy was preceded in death by her son Buford, March 26, 2005, two sisters, Fern and Rosa and one brother Olin Bowers.

Tiemann, Dean V. - Dean V. Tiemann, son of Edward and Olga (Rolf) Tiemann, was born on April 8, 1924 in Westboro, Missouri. He passed away on December 17, 2006 at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 82 years. Dean attended Westboro schools and graduated from Westboro High School in 1942. From there, he went on to attend and graduate from Kansas State University in 1946. Subsequently, he returned home to farm with his family.

On June 6, 1948 Dean was united in marriage to Loreta Marie Stricklin at St. John's Lutheran Church of Westboro by Pastor Nolte. They made their home in Westboro where Dean continued to farm, manage a grain elevator, and prepare income taxes. In 1965 they moved to Bruning, Nebraska where they co-owned and operated a cattle feeding operation. In 1967 they moved to Lincoln, where Dean became Account Manager and Comptroller for Lincoln Steel Corp. Beginning in 1977, Dean worked in administration for the Tabatha Home in Lincoln. In the 1980's, Dean became director of Gramercy Hill Retirement Center in Lincoln. Being a licensed nursing home administrator, in his retirement Dean served as a consultant for retirement homes and as a trainer for future nursing home administrators.

Dean was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Westboro. He was the first president of the church council of the First Lutheran Evangelical Church of Lincoln. Dean also served on the coalition for Older Adult Health Promotion and Lincoln End of Life coalition.

Dean is survived by his loving wife Loreta; one son Duane Tiemann and wife Irene, Ossining, NY; two daughters, Janice Mitchell and husband John, Vienna, VA and Anita Jeck and husband Greg, Omaha, NE; six grandchildren Patrick, Kevin and Emily Mitchell; Dustin, Erika and Derek Jeck; one great granddaughter Isabella Jeck and one uncle Erwin Rolf, Shenandoah, IA.

Dean is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Olga (Rolf) Tiemann.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2006 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Westboro, MO, with burial at St. John's Cemetery. Tolby, Velma Lucille Twitty - Velma Lucille (Twitty) Tolby, the daughter of Alvis and Mary (Shelton) Twitty, was born September 29, 1923 in Ava, Missouri. On December 22, 1942, she was united in marriage to Louis Dwight Tolby and two this union two daughters were born, Geraldine Minner of Wichita, Kansas and Gail Kirtley of Newton, Kansas. Velma spent most of her life in the Rock Port area, working at P.M. Place Company as a cashier for 25 years. She retired in February 1991, and shortly thereafter moved to Newton to be closer her family. Velma was a former member of the Rock Port Baptist Church and a present member of the First Baptist Church in Newton.

She passed away on March 21, 2008 at Kansas Christian Nursing Home in Newton. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dwight, three sisters and two brothers. Velma is survived by two daughters, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one sister, three brothers, nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

Tonigan, Diane K. Moody - Diane K. (Moody) Tonigan, 48, Albuquerque, formerly of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, September 5, 2009 at her home in Albuquerque.

Diane was born November 15, 1960 in Omaha, NE to Don and Johnita Moody. She was a graduate of Omaha South High School of 1979, the University of New Mexico, BA, MA, LED. She was a passionate and an amazing wife, mother, sister, friend, educator, and Big Red Husker fan. Her compassion, happiness and laughter were contagious. All of those whose lives were touched by her will miss her deeply.

Survivors: daughter, Jackie Tonigan, Houston, Texas; son, Drew Tonigan, Albuquerque; parents, Don and Johnita Moody, Rock Port, Missouri; sisters, Dawn (Doug) Lynch and Debbie (Mike) Contreras, all of Papillion, Nebraska and Dona Braniff, Omaha, Nebraska; father-in-law, Richard F. Tonigan; brother-in-law, J. Scott (Radka) Tonigan, all of Albuquerque; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, family and friends.

Tudor, Janice Fay Blair - Janice Fay (Blair) Tudor, the daughter of Roy Lawrence and Verna Marie (Lawless) Blair was born on July 18, 1944 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She passed peacefully in Branson, on September 25th, 2007 at the age of 63 years after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Janice worked in motel management most of her adult life; the most recent was in Branson. She enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port.

Survivors include her three sons; William John Potter and his wife Mikyong of Guntersville, Alabama, Roy Allen Potter of Independence, Missouri, and Russell Dale Potter and his wife Stacy of Belton Missouri; grandchildren, Terry and Joshua Potter of Guntersville, and Kimberly and Megan Potter of Belton; great grandchildren, Allison and Mckinsley Potter of Guntersville; sister Carolyn Malotte and her husband Charles of Rockaway Beach, Missouri, brother Gary Blair and his wife Kay of St. Joseph.

Besides her parents Jan was preceded in death by her husband of 17 years Allen Tudor, infant sister Sharon Kay Blair, and brother Larry Blair of St. Joseph.
