Ohrt, Donna V. McIntosh, the daughter of Beecher and Inez (Steele) McIntosh was born February 11, 1933 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Donna attended Lincoln North East High School, graduating in 1951. During high school, Donna enjoyed being a member of the Penguin Swimming Club. She was then employed for the Western Electric Telephone Company in Lincoln.

On October 2, 1955, Donna was united in marriage to John Henry Ohrt in Lincoln. They made their home near the Watson, Missouri community and farmed north of Tarkio for over 40 years. As a busy farm wife, she also worked at the Tarkio College cafeteria. Sewing was a favorite pastime. Her greatest joys were caring for and spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities, and traveling to Lincoln to see her family. Donna passed away Wednesday December 26, 2007 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 74 years.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, St. John’s Extension Club and Couples Club. She was a former, Farmer City 4-H leader and enjoyed judging, cooking and other food preparations for the club. She was a member of the Tarkio Red Hatters Club.

Besides her parents, Donna was preceded in death by one daughter, Judee Ohrt, one grandson, Jace Driskell, two brothers, Bob and Wayne McIntosh. Survivors include her husband, John Henry of the home, Watson; two daughters, Dian Ohrt-Sporrer and her husband Michael, Phoenix, Arizona, and Sally Vietze and her husband Dan, Tarkio; one son John Ohrt, Westboro; two grandchildren, Ashlee and Mitchell Driskell; three step grandchildren, Michele, Michael and Adam Sporrer; one great-granddaughter, Mariah, all of Phoenix; one sister Margie Chapman, Kaluma, Washington; two brothers Marvin McIntosh and his wife Joann, Lincoln and Oral McIntosh and his wife Betty, Aurora, Colorado; two sisters-in-law, Jean McIntosh, Boulder Colorado and Frances McIntosh, Lincoln, Nebraska.

Interment: St. John’s Cemetery, Westboro.

Olson, Rosie Amelia, the daughter of Carl Christian and Katherine (Herrman) Olson, was born February 21, 1909 in Watson, Missouri.
She attended Pleasant Valley Country School near Watson.

Rosie served as a midwife for a number of years. She lived with Mr. and
Mrs. Sylvester Garst and helped raise their children.. In later years, Rosie took care of her mother until her passing in January of 1980.

Rosie resided at her home on Rainbow Drive until 2005, when ill health required her moving to Pleasant View Nursing Home in Rock Port. She passed away at Pleasant View on July 30, 2008 at the age of 99 years.

She was a former member of the Watson Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a member of the Rock Port Church of Christ. Rosie was also a past member of the Atchison County Extension Club.

Besides her parents, Rosie is preceded in death by sisters Marie Underwood and Dorothy Brought; brothers Robert Olson, Raymond Olson, Lester Olsen, Gilbert Olson and Harlen Olson; niece Sherry Pfeil; nephew Donald Kerr; sisters-in-law Irene Olson and Patty Olson; and brother-in-law Irvin Brought.

Rosie is survived by her brother Leo Olson, Rock Port; special friend Mike Burke, Maryville, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Marie Olson, Papillion, Nebraska, Roberta Olsen, Coin, Iowa and Maybelle Olson, Salt Lake City, Utah.


Interment: Linden Cemetery, Rock Port.
Services are under the direction of Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.


Osborn, Edith Leola Arnett, daughter of Charles Edward and Luva Leola (Ranck) Arnett, was born on March 20, 1930, in Sheffield, Alabama. She passed away on Monday, May 14, 2007, at the Nebraska Medical Center (Clarkson Hospital) in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 77.

At the age of two, Edith and her family moved from Alabama to Southwest Iowa, where she would spend the rest of her life. Edith received her education in the Sidney and Hamburg Schools. On November 21, 1948, Edith was united in marriage to Donald L. Osborn at the First United Methodist Church in Shenandoah. They made their home in Shenandoah, where they raised their two children, Karen and Jimmy. Edith worked for over 30 years at Henry Field Seed & Nursery. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shenandoah. Edith loved to collect things, among her favorites were cookie jars, salt & pepper shakers and stuffed animals. She also loved to dance when she was able.

Preceding Edith in death were her parents; brothers, Harry and Charles Arnett; and sisters, Charlene Arnett and Rae (Lillian) Miller. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Donald L. Osborn; daughter, Karen Woods; son, Jimmy Osborn; sister Mildred Smith; grandson, Bill Woods and his wife Shari; great granddaughter, Cori Woods; numerous nieces, nephews, step great grandchildren and many other friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 17, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah. Words of comfort were given by Pastor Fred Bryson. Musical selections were "Amazing Grace" and "I Saw The Light". Special music was performed by granddaughter Cori Woods. Attending the memory register were Ida Strange and Vicki Ware. Honorary casket bearers were "All of Edith's friends". Casket bearers were Jack Yost, Timothy Hart, Patrick Hart, Larry Hertensen, Bob Strange, Adam Lowery and Coltyn Liggett. Interment was in the Center Grove Cemetery near Westboro, Missouri. Memorials are being directed to the family. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Osborn, Jimmy Lee, son of Donald L. and Edith L. (Arnett) Osborn, was born on November 5, 1949, in Shenandoah, Iowa. He passed away on Friday, November 30, 2007, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 58.

Growing up in Shenandoah, Jimmy attended the Shenandoah Schools. He worked for the Missouri Beef Packers’ Association at their plant in Rock Port, Missouri. As a youngster, he attended the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Shenandoah. He had served as a board member for the West Page Improvement Center for many years. Jimmy was a big fan of Elvis Presley and enjoyed collecting Elvis memorabilia. He also collected stamps and stuffed animals. Western movies were also a favorite of his.

Survivors include his father, Donald L. Osborn and sister, Karen Woods both of Shenandoah; nephew, Bill Woods and wife Shari of Red Oak, IA; great niece, Cori Woods of Shenandoah, IA; aunt, Mildred Smith of Des Moines, IA; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith L. (Arnett) Osborn; and an infant sister, Elizabeth Ann Osborn.

Graveside services were held on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at the Center Grove Cemetery in Westboro, Missouri. Pastor Fred Bryson gave the words of comfort. Musical selections were "Amazing Grace", "Angel" and "I Did It My Way". Honorary casket bearers were all of Jimmy's friends. Casket bearers were Kyle Archer, Merlin Eschelman, Timothy Hart, Patrick Hart, Adam Lowery, Marlin Mainquist, Bob Strange and Jack Yost. Memorials are being directed to the family. Interment was in the Center Grove Cemetery.

Ottmann, Mary
Mass of the Christian Burial was held Wednesday, January 18, 1995, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tarkio for Mary Pearl (Showalter) Ottmann of Tarkio. Reverend Quentin Kathol, OSB, was the officiant. Interment was made in Tarkio Home Cemetery in Tarkio under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Tarkio. A prayer service was also held Tuesday evening, January 17, at 7:30 p.m. at Davis Funeral after which the family received friends.
Mary Pearl Ottmann, age 94, passed away Sunday, January 15,1995, at Community Care of America in Tarkio. She was born September 8, 1900, near Rock Port, Missouri, to Eva Mae (Gore) and George Showalter. In her early years she attended the Liberty Country School north of Rock Port. For a number of years she taught in country schools throughout the area.
Mary was united in marriage to Louis John Ottmann on September 4, 1922, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tarkio. They lived and farmed east of Rock Port on the Louis J. Ottmann farm. In 1941, they moved to the Fairfax, Missouri, area and farmed until moving to the Sinclair farm north of RockPort. In 1943, they purchased their farm north of Westboro, Missouri, where they resided until Mr. Ottmann passed away in 1976. During that year, Mary moved to Tarkio. Some of her winters were spent in Minnesota with her daughter, Jean. Since September 9, 1988, Mary had resided at Community Care.
Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Catholic Church or Tarkio Home Cemetery, both in Tarkio.
Survivors include: one son, Louis John Ottmann of South Wick, Massachusetts; three daughters, Mary Margaret Mattox, Dittmer, Missouri, Jean Lingner, St. Paul, Minnesota, and Phyllis A Tawney of Des Moines, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 3O great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Osborn, Alvin - Alvin Osborn age 73 of Burlington Junction, died yesterday morning at the Hand hospital in Shenandoah, Ia., where he had been a patient for two weeks. He had been in ill health for two years.

Born July 13, 1877, near Grant City, Mr Osborn had lived for years in the Tarkio vicinity. Since 1936 he had lived in Burlington Junction. He was married July 27, 1910, to Lavina Davenport of Rock Port, who survives. Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs Wendell Smith and Mrs Myrl Hoxson of Shenandoah, Ia.; three sons, Virgil Osborn, St Paul, Minn; Donald of Shenandoah; and Orville of Springfield, Mo; 13 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs Henry Roach, Marshall, Ark; and two brothers, Charles and Roy Osborn, Yakima, Wash.

Funeral services will be held at the Christian church in Burlington tomorrow afternoon and burial will be in Center Grove cemetery at Westboro.

Olsen, Dorothy Roberta Brusha - Dorothy Roberta (Brusha) Olsen, the daughter of Jess and Anna (Poppa) Brusha, was born March 3, 1924 in Langdon, Missouri. She attended Rock Port Schools, graduating in 1942. Following graduation, Roberta was employed by Dr. Settles in Rock Port.

On February 19, 1946, Roberta was united in marriage to Lester Olsen at the Lutheran Church Parsonage in Rock Port by Reverend McConnell.

Roberta was a stay at home mother and homemaker living in northwest Missouri and southwest Iowa communities all of her life. She was a member of the Coin United Methodist Church for many years. Lester passed away November 7, 1986. Roberta passed away September 30, 2008 at Life Care Center in Waynesville, Missouri at the age of 84 years.

Besides her parents and husband, Roberta was preceded in death by two sisters; Anna Ohrt and Frieda Green; sisters-in-law Marie Underwood, Dorothy Brought, Irene Olson, Patty Olson, Rosie Olson, Evelyn Brusha; brothers-in-law Robert Olson, Raymond Olson, Gilbert Olson , Harlen Olson, Irvin Brought, and John Ohrt.

Roberta is survived by her two daughters, Dorothy Arlene Moody and her husband, Dean, Herman, Nebraska and Annette E. Hess and her husband Gary, Richland, Missouri; four grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Marvin Brusha, Rock Port; two sisters-in-law, Marie Olson, Papillion, Nebraska; Maybell Olson, Salt Lake City, Utah; one brother-in-law, Leo Olson, Rock Port and numerous nieces and nephews.
