[101] Kemper, Pearl K. - Mrs Herbert (Pearl K.) Kemper 77, was dead on arrival at the Shenandoah Memorial Hospital Saturday evening. She was stricken with a heart attack at the Elks Lodge where she was employed as a kitchen helper.

Born in Atchison County, Mo, she had lived in the Westboro vicinity and Locust Grove Township in Fremont County, Iowa, prior to moving to Shenandoah in 1974.

She was an active lifelong member of St John's Lutheran Church, rural Westboro from where funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday. The Rev Richard Pearson will officiate and interment will be in the church yard cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters and her husband Herbert in 1971.

Surviving is one son Dale E. Kemper and wife Darlene of Hamburg, Iowa, one daughter Mrs Joan Anderson of Shenandoah, 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one sister Mrs Minnie Laumann a resident of the Sidney Health Care Center and a number of other relatives.

A memorial is being established to the St John's Church and memorials may be left with Mrs Otto (Ella) Butt. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 pm Monday evening at the Hackett Funeral Home.

[102] Kephart, Flora Belle Kephart Lloyd Hamm, the daughter of Ernest and Ida Mae (Davis) Kephart, was born March 26, 1931 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Belle moved to rural Rock Port, Missouri as an infant and attended Cooper Country School west of Rock Port. She later attended nurses training in Downey, California, graduating as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

In 1952, Belle was united in marriage to David Bruce Lloyd. They became the parents of one son David Bruce, and were later divorced. Belle was later united in marriage to Warren Hamm. They became the parents of three children, Marilyn, Delmar and Katherine. They were later divorced.

Belle was a very selfless lady, who cared for her father and brother, Ollie, before their passing. She also had very many friends. She was a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint’s Church in Maryville. Belle passed away December 2, 2007, at Midlands Living Center, Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 76 years.

Besides her parents and brother Marion, “Ollie”, Belle was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy, two brothers Everett and Harold and one sister Eva May. Survivors include two sons, David Lloyd, and Delmar Hamm and his wife Debbie, all of Council Bluffs, one daughter, Marilyn Hamm, San Gabriel, California; eleven grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren; three brothers, Arnold Kephart, Tarkio, Marvin Kephart, Los Angeles, California and Lloyd Kephart, Indiana; four sisters, Helen Scott, Sundown, Texas, Mary Hartman, Council Bluffs, Alice Smith, Spring, Texas, and Flossie Dunbar, Council Bluffs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

[103] Kerr, Eric Tyler, Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri was born on September 22, 1989 in North Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Oak Park High School in Kansas City. Eric passed away at 12:50 pm on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Cox South Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 18 years.

Eric had graciously decided to be an organ donor, and because of his thoughtful decision six people received the gift of life.

Survivors include his father and mother, Les and Brenda Kerr, Kansas City, Missouri; mother Jana Cooper, Newport News, Virginia; sisters, LaChanta Cooper, Newport News, Brooke and Katie Laws, Kansas City; Paternal grandmother, Virginia Kerr, Cross Timbers, Missouri; maternal grandparents, Jimmie and Marilyn Hughes, Rock Port, Missouri; maternal great grandmother, Faye Maness, Rock Port; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Eric is preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Kerr and his great grandfather Logan Maness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port. Burial will follow in Linden Cemetery, Rock Port.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 4, 2008 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons, White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 N. Antioch Rd, Gladstone, Missouri.

Memorials may be directed to the Eric Tyler Kerr Memorial Fund.

[104] Knapp, Loretta A.

1933-2005

MOUND CITY, Mo. — Loretta A. Knapp, 72, of Mound City passed away at an Omaha, Neb., hospital on Feb. 19, 2005.

She was born in Endicott, Neb., on Jan. 13, 1933, and attended Endicott and Cortland schools.

On Nov. 8, 1949, she married Edwin Knapp. He survives of their Mound City home.

Loretta owned and operated Loretta’s Soup-R-Salad in Mound City for several years. She also worked at Squaw Creek Truck Plaza and Good Time Antiques, both in Mound City.

She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Williams; brother, Jack; and sisters Audrey and Lexey.

Additional survivors are her mother, Agnes Williams, Omaha, Neb.; daughter, Christine McLean, Overland Park, Kan.; sons, Larry, Loveland, Colo. and Brian, Forest City, Mo.; brother, Kenneth, Lincoln, Neb.; and sisters, Dorthia Biggs, Irving, Texas, and Edith Berthelson, St. Joseph, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

[105] Knizley, Cayrol Loraine "Kay" was born February 6, 1918 at 7:30 p.m. at Tarkio, Missouri. He was the fifth child of William Perry and Lydia Magdalina (W.P. and Maggie) Knizley. Two more boys followed William (Bill) and Fred - making a total of seven children in the family as follows: Davida, Ivoree, Mandy, Ed, Kay, Bill, and Fred. Fred is the only sibling surviving him.

Kay attended local schools and helped his Dad on the farm. He enlisted in the U.S. Army November 3, 1938 at Fort Cook, Nebraska. He was discharged as a Sergeant November 3, 1941. On March 12, 1942 he re-enlisted and participated in battles at Normandy, in Northern France, and in several German campaigns. He was awarded three bronze stars. On November 15, 1944 he was wounded in the vicinity of Distroff, France and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was discharged May 23. 1945.

Soon after leaving the Army, Kay quickly became a proficient electrician and was soon a journeyman electrician.

After about a two year courtship, on September 30, 1949 he married Roberta N. (Bert) Obert, a widow whose husband was killed in World War II. He quickly became Dad to her two children, Jim and Jean Obert. As time passed Jim and Jean each married and started families and he was the beloved Po-Po to Kathy, Juergan, Roberta, Ernie, and Jimmie. Kay also had a close relationship with numerous nieces and nephews.

Bert and Kay were a very loving couple who enjoyed family and friends. They sold their home in 1980. They bought an R.V. and became nomads, a life they both thoroughly enjoyed.

Kay went home to be with the Lord on February 12, 2005

[106] Knizley, Roberta Nelle Guyette was born February 11, 1914 to William and Nellie Amanda Guyette at Burlington Junction, Missouri. Her early years were spent in Tarkio, Missouri where she attended school and helped out in her father’s feed store. On January 21, 1933 she married Ernest Harold Obert and they became the parents of James Harold and Roberta Jean Obert. Ernie was called to war in 1943 and was killed in action February 8, 1945.

On September 30, 1949, Roberta married Cayrol L. Knizley. After he retired they enjoyed many years together in their recreational vehicle. Both loved to play cards and this life style suited them perfectly. They could pull into a campground, go to the recreation hall and find either a bridge or a cribbage game.

Cayrol died in 2005 after 55 years of marriage. Roberta’s son, James Harold (Jim) preceded her in death in 2002. She went home to be with the Lord on May 5, 2008.

Roberta is survived by her daughter Roberta Jean Kimbriel and her husband Bill, her granddaughter Kathy L. Kimbriel and her husband Raymond Tatum, her granddaughter Roberta Anna Isbell and her husband Gordon, and by her grandson Ernest Harold Obert and his wife Geni . There are numerous great-grandchildren in the Obert and Knizley clans.

[107] Krusor, Mary Frances Nauman, daughter of Luther and Edna (Eddy) Nauman, was born on March 28, 1918 in Forsyth, Missouri. She passed away on January 4, 2007 at Northview Manor Nursing Home in Tarkio, Missouri at the age of 88 years. Mary was one of ten children raised on the family farm, two miles east of Craig, Missouri.

She attended Cherrydale country school and Craig high school.
Mary was united in marriage to James Wesley Krusor on June 24, 1934 in St. Joseph, Missouri at St. Joe City Hall. They lived in Rock Port for all their married life except for three years spent in Topeka, Kansas during World War II.

Mary and James were blessed with three children: Nina Sue, James H. and Kenton E. Mary was a member of the Rock Port Baptist Church and the William White Chapter D.A.R. She is lovingly remembered for her sharp memory, her famous macaroni and cheese and for being the source of the family's information.

Mary is survived by her three children Nina Sue Heits and husband John C. of Fairfax, Missouri; James H. Krusor also of Fairfax; Kenton E. Krusor and wife Rita of Winthrop, Iowa; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; five step great great grandchildren; one sister, Lorene Epstein, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband James (1998); five sisters; one brother; one infant brother; one infant sister; one infant grandson; and one infant great grandson.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 8, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.; Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port; with burial at Greenhill Cemetery, Rock Port. Memorials may be directed to Northview Manor Nursing Home in Tarkio Missouri.

Knauss, Michael Austin - Michael Austin Knauss, D.O., the son of Dr. Austin Roland and Dr. Nellie Mae (Thompson) Knauss was born November 15, 1953 in Lebanon, Missouri, and passed away Saturday, October 10, 2009, at Bryan LGH East Medical Center, Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 55.

Micheal graduated from Lebanon High School, Lebanon, Missouri, in 1972 and William Jewell College, Liberty, Missouri, in 1976, with bachelors’ degrees in Biology and Chemistry. He was awarded his degree of Doctor of Osteopathy from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kirksville, Missouri, in 1981. After completing his internship at Saginaw Osteopathic Hospital, Saginaw, Michigan, he moved to Bethany, Missouri, to begin practicing Family Medicine in 1982. In 1991 he moved his practice to Yuma, Colorado. He returned to Missouri in 1994 and opened a Family Practice office in Rock Port, Missouri. Dr. Knauss was highly respected by his patients and his absence saddens many, not only from the loss of their doctor, but also a dear friend.

On December 30, 1975, Michael was united in marriage to Patricia Louise Chapman in Liberty, Missouri. Pat worked alongside Dr. Knauss as a RN and Practice Manager.

Dr. Knauss was Board Certified in Family Practice and was also a Certified Medical Review Officer. He currently served as the Medical Director of Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, Missouri, and was a member of the Medical Staff of Community Hospital, Fairfax, Missouri. He was a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, and the Missouri Osteopathic Association, and was President of Cass Street Inquiry, Inc., a health care research firm.

Dr. Knauss served the community of Rock Port, Missouri, as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission and Health Board. He was an avid in-line skater and the founding member of Atchison County Bicycle Club (AC/BC). He enjoyed touring the world with his wife and friends from the seat of his bicycle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his uncle, Dr. Fred Thompson. Survivors include his wife Pat Knauss, Rock Port; brother, Daniel Knauss and his wife Margaret, sisters, Karen Bunch and her husband Randy, and Mary Kay Knight and her husband Roger, brother, David Knauss and his wife Bonnie; father-in-law, Dr. Samuel C. Chapman and his wife Joy, Liberty, Missouri; brother-in-law, William M. Chapman and his wife Beverly, Sedalia, Missouri, sister-in-law, Dr. Ann C. Waterman and her husband James, Liberty, Missouri, brother-in-law, Sam Chapman, Jr. and his wife Kathryn Degler, Overland Park, Kansas; niece, Mari Chapman, Overland Park, Kansas.

Krusor, James "Jimmy" Harold - James “Jimmy” Harold Krusor, the son of James W. and Mary F. (Nauman) Krusor was born March 6, 1939 in Fairfax, Missouri. He attended school in Rock Port, MO, graduating in 1957. In1958, Jim entered the United States Navy and served aboard the U.S. carrier, Midway. He received his honorable discharge in 1962 and returned to Missouri. Jim then continued his education, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1966 from Tarkio College, Tarkio, MO and a Master of Arts in 1979 from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, MO.

Jim was an executive with the Boy Scouts of America in Trenton, MO for 3 years and Marshalltown, IA for 3 years. He returned to Northwest Missouri and was a farm manager for 8 years. Jim then worked for the Iowa State Board of Medical Examiners, Des Moines, Iowa, for 8 years, followed by 7 years as an executive project director at the American Medical Association Headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. He was a member of the North Star Masonic Lodge #157 A.F. & A.M., Rock Port, Story-Hardin American Legion Post # 164, Craig, Missouri and the Rock Port Baptist Church. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, guns, coins and mushroom hunting. He passed away November 30, 2009 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas, at the age of 70 years.

Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by an infant nephew, Brian Krusor and infant great-nephew, Timothy Roach. Survivors include his sister, Nina Sue Heits, Fairfax, and brother, Kenton E. Krusor and his wife, Rita, Winthrop, Iowa and several nieces and nephews and their families.
