Death of Aunt Lydia Chastain.
Miss Lydia Vancil, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Daniel, was born in Illinois,
March 2, 1839.
Died, Dec. 15, 1915, aged 76 years, 9 months and 13 days.
She was united in marriage with L.J. Chastain, July 11, 1854, who died Sept.
21, 1895; was the mother of 12 children, of whom 5 are living to mourn the
loss of a Christian mother. She united with the Baptist church when a young
lady and lived in the service of Christ the remainder of her life; dying,
trusting in the Lord. She and her husband united with the church at the same
time. She has 36 grandchildren, of whom 8 have preceded her to the ______
land. She has 10 great-great- grandchildren, of whom all are living.
The funeral services were held at the home of Mr. C. L. Addington, December
16, 1915. All the children were present at the funeral, but one girl, Mrs.
Winnie Bowen, of Nebraska City, but she arrived in time for the burial. The
body was held over until Friday and was laid away in the Center Grove cemetery,
northeast of Tarkio, December 17, 1915.
She is survived by two sons and three daughters: W. W. Chastain and A. W.
Chastain, both of St. Joseph: Mrs. L. R. Ingrim of Skidmore, Mo., Mrs. C.
L. Addington of Phelps City, Mo. And Mrs. I. B. Bowen, of Nebraska City, Neb.
The funeral services were held by Brother McKltrick, taking his text from
Proverbs 31st Chapter and 30th verse. Aunt Lydia was
always willing to help everybody in time of troubles.
Mother works for you, looks after
you, forgives you, anything you may do: Understands you, sad the only thing
she does to grieve you is to die and leave you. sss.
