Booth, Gaylord R.

Gaylord R. Booth, eldest son of William E. and Norene Booth, died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Prescott, Arizona. Gaylord graduated from Fairfax High School in 1942.
He joined the Air Corp. December 7,1942. He was a B-7 pilot with the Eighth Air Force in England flying the maximum number of missions over Germany. As lead plane, of a group, he made a life-saving decision and was awarded the Air Medal. He, and his crew, were assigned one additional mission at Normandy taking out machine gun nests. Later in the Pacific, with the Strategic Air Command, flying a B-36, he took part in the nuclear test at Kwajalein.
Gaylord leaves his wife, Ann, Prescott, Arizona; brothers, James, Springfield, Missouri, and George and wife, Dione, Stony Brook, New York; and niece, Sarah of New York City, New York. THE FAIRFAX FORUM, Fairfax, Missouri, May 19, 2005

 

Bowness, Lois Joan McDaniel -

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 26, at the Langsford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit, Missouri, for Lois Jean Bowness. Interment was made in Floral Hills East Cemetery, Lee's Summit, under the direction of Langsford Funeral Home, Lee's Summit.
Lois Joan Bowness died Saturday, October 21, 2006, after a long illness. Mrs. Bowness was born on September 2,1926, to Una and Ralph McDaniel of Craig, Missouri. She attended Craig schools and Tarkio College. She received her teaching certificate and taught in rural schools before marrying J. Franklin Bowness on March 28, 1947.
They lived near Fairfax and Cameron, Missouri, before settling in Lee's Summit in 1967. She and her husband operated an independent insurance agency in Lee's Summit until his death in 1984. Mrs. Bowness continued to work for the agency until her retirement in 1989. Mrs. Bowness will be remembered for her quick wit and vivaciousness as well as her love of ballroom dancing.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Turner Tyson of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Susan and Dana Miller of Lee's Summit. She also leaves four grandchildren, Jesse Miller, Jason Miller, Leslie A. Tyson and Laura Tyson. Bozarth, Virginia Lee Youel -

Virginia Youel Bozarth, age 84, of Modesto, California passed away on March 20, 2007. She leaves behind her beloved husband Bob Bozarth, also of Modesto, and her loving daughter, Karen Sue Schooler of St. Louis, Missouri. She also leaves behind her step-daughter and two step-sons: Anna Hogan of Yorba Linda, CA.; and David and Roger Bozarth of Modesto, CA. Additionally, Virginia leaves six grandchildren, including Chris Schooler of Bryan, Texas, and Heath Schooler of Floresville, Texas, as well as six great­grandchildren.
Virginia was born on January 11,1923, in Fairfax, Missouri, to Eugene F. Youel arid Ruth Price Youel. She had an older sister, Carolyn Youel Crockett, formerly of Mound City, Missouri. Virginia is preceded in her passing by these three.
Virginia attended school in Fairfax where she graduated from high school in 1940. Upon graduation she enrolled in a secretarial school in Iowa, after which she moved to Washington D.C. and accepted a bookkeeping position with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In 1945, she returned to northwest Missouri where her daughter, Sue, was born.

Though she eventually moved to California in 1955, she remained deeply attached to her Fairfax roots, and until recent years she frequently attended class reunions. During her career she worked for several different companies, and retired from Simpson Lee Paper Company in Ripon, California.
After retirement, Virginia and Bob devoted a great deal of time to what they loved to do most: travel. They joined the Bay Area Gipsies and the Vogue Country (RV) Club where they made many life­long friends and traveling companions. Through their associations they were able to travel throughout the US and most of Europe, as well as China and Australia. A special memory for Virginia was at Campbell River, Canada where she and Bob spent many summers fishing and playing cards with good friends. They also loved to square dance.
A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2007, at Bob and Virginia's farm outside of Modesto. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Virginia's name to the Alzheimers Foundation, 416 Downey Avenue, Modesto, CA 95354.

Bradbury, Wilma Griffey

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2005, at the Fairfax Baptist Church, Fairfax, for Wilma Bradbury, Oregon, Missouri, formerly of Fairfax. Interment was made at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax. Rev. Steve Suttill officiated.
Wilma was born on July 4, 1935, in Burlington Junction, Missouri, to Floyd and Eva (Puett) Griffey. She was the youngest daughter in a family of four children. She grew up in the Fairfax Community and attended school in Fairfax, graduating from Fairfax High School in 1953. Wilma was employed at Community Hospital Association for 18 years, where she worked in food services. She was a member of the Fairfax Baptist Church.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Stan McKenzie; a brother, Donald Griffey; and a grandson, Ryan Hanshaw. Survivors include her husband, Rex Bradbury, and a stepson, Jim
Bradbury, both of Fairfax; three daughters, Victoria Helms, Plainville, Georgia, Joyce McKenzie, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Beverly Barnett, Kansas City, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Ramona Goodwin, St. Joseph, Missouri, and RexAnn Blazer, Mound City, Missouri; a brother, Marvin Griffey, Olathe, Kansas; a sister, Lucille Nielson, Kaiser, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Bradfield, James Leslie - Funeral services were held at Vista De La Montana United Methodist Church at 3001 East Mira Vista Lane, Tucson AZ, on Friday February 10, 2006, at 10 a.m. for James L. Bradfield.
James "Leslie" Bradfield, 89, passed away on Sunday, February 5,2006, surrounded by his loving family. Leslie was not monetarily rich or famous, he had something more valuable, something others seek and often don't find. His richness came from being a family man that lived, loved and was loved.
Leslie, son of John Leslie and Ulla Bessie Bradfield was born on May 30, 1916. He grew up, along with his brothers Wayne and Eugene, on the family farm in Fairfax, Missouri. As a teenager, Leslie discovered that he loved to "tinker" with machinery, gas engines, etc. If something wasn't running well, he'd take it apart to see why and then fix it. He graduated from Tarkio, Missouri, High School in 1935.On February 14, 1940 Leslie married the love of his life, Thelma Louise Trauernicht. Next week would have been their 66th wedding anniversary. They were blessed with four children Leslie "Leroy", Sharon, Shirley and David. Through out his life, Leslie continued to use his "tinkering" abilities by working in a B25 bomber plant at the beginning of WWII. Later, he entered the Navy and "tinkered' with submarines. After the Navy, he worked at the Claycomo Ford Motor Company plant in Kansas City, MO. and was eventually transferred to Michigan. Later, he worked in the maintenance department at the University Of Michigan, from which he retired. He moved to Saddlebrook, Arizona in 1999.
Leslie is survived by his loving wife Thelma; daughters, Sharon Brubey of Saddlebrook, AZ, and Shirley Lang of San Diego CA; sons, Leslie Leroy Bradfield of Lake Havasu City, AZ and David Bradfield of Saddlebrook, AZ; five grandchildren, Julie Burbey, Mark Bradfield, Doug Bradfield, James Taeckens and April Beane; six great grandchildren; brothers, Wayne Bradfield and Eugene Bradfield of Fairfax, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Bradfield, Phyllis J. Graves -

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2007, at the United Methodist Church in Fairfax for Phyllis Jeanette Graves Bradfield, 84, of Fairfax, MO. Rev. Mike Eighmy officiated. Interment was made in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Phyllis Bradfield passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at Community Hospital, Fairfax. Phyllis was born January 12, 1923, to William J. and Georgia Phelps Graves. After her mother's death, she and her sister, Betty, made their home with their aunts, Myrtle Graves and Ruth Graves Clark. Phyllis attended Houston County School and graduated from Fairfax R-III High School in 1941.
Phyllis and Wayne Bradfield were married on July 14, 1942. They were married for 65 years. They were blessed with three daughters. They lived on the Bradfield family farm northeast of Fairfax until 1988 when they moved to Fairfax.
Phyllis was an active member of the Fairfax United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Community Hospital Auxiliary.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother; her aunts; her daughter, Mary Lynette Bradfield; infant grandson, Travis Sefrit; and sister, Betty.

Phyllis is survived by husband, Wayne; one brother, David Graves and wife, Gloria; daughters and their husbands, Amy Jeanette and Bob Sefrit, and Alice Annette and Danny Kemerling; five grandchildren, Rachel Sefrit Betz and her husband, Sean, Dana Kemerling Tracy and her husband, Mike, Jason Kemerling and his wife, Aubrey, Robert Sefrit and his wife, Carly, and Kara Kemerling Vette and her husband, Tim; one great-grandson, Aidan Betz; one great-grand­child expected in January; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Brown, Christena Fay Wilson

Graveside services and interment were held Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. for Christena F. Brown of Tarkio at Tarkio Home Cemetery in Tarkio. Reverend Glenn Scott officiated.
Christena Fay Brown was born in Tarkio on May 31, 1923. Her parents were Richard Glenwood and Elsie Phae Gladys (Lane) Wilson. Christena passed away at Community Hospital Association in Fairfax, MO, on Sunday morning, June 11, 2006, at the age of 83.
Christena attended school in Tarkio. On August 18, 1937, she married Frank Newton Brown, and they became parents of four children. Christena was a homemaker. Frank passed away in 1997.
Christena was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved cooking, especially baking for family gatherings. She also enjoyed flowers and flower gardening.
Christena was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Phyllis Pilcher and Kathleen Pearson; son, Charles F. Brown; brother, Paul David Wilson; and granddaughter, Christy Smith.
Survivors include her son, Larry P. Brown, and his wife, Judy, Fairfax; daughters, Sharon K. and her husband, Paul Hubbard, Fairfax, and Candice and her husband, Mike Whetsel, Craig, MO; and daughter-in-law, Cherry Brown, Corsicana, TX; 16 grandchildren; 37 great­grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Buthe, Ruth G.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 4, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, Missouri, for Ruby G. Buthe of Richmond, formerly of Tarkio, Missouri. Burial followed at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg, Missouri, at 2:00 p.m. Services were under the direction of Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, Missouri.
Ruby G. Buthe, 86, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at the Ray County Memorial Hospital, Richmond, Missouri. Mrs. Buthe was born September 25, 1918, near Columbus, Missouri, to James Walter and Hattie E. (Black) Wilson. She married James B. Buthe of Warrensburg, Missouri, on February 15, 1941; he survives of the home.
Additional survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Virginia B. and Robert E. Swafford of Richmond, Missouri; one sister, Evelyn E. Bodenhamer of Warrensburg, Missouri; one grandson and his wife, J. Rob and Courtney L. Swafford; two great-grandchildren, Calvin G. Swafford and Claire J. Swafford; one stepgrandson, Gary L. Swafford; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by two sons, James Wilson Buthe and Ronnie Ray Buthe; two brothers, John A. "Jack" Wilson and James D. Wilson; and one grandson, Paul Mark Swafford, who died in infancy.
Mrs. Buthe was a homemaker. She also worked as a bookkeeper and assistant in Buthe Oil Company and Wrecker Service and was also a member of the Royal Neighbors, both in Tarkio, Missouri. Mrs. Buthe was a member of the Tarkio Presbyterian Church. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association. Carter, Beulah M. Chambers -

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Fairfax, for Beulah M. Carter, Rock Port, Missouri, formerly of Fairfax. Rev. Bob Francis officiated. Interment was made in Walkup Grove Cemetery, Fairfax, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Beulah was born July 25, 1912, to John and Bertha (Wheat) Chambers in southern Missouri. She married James Thompson in 1930, and of this union four children were born, Delores, Rae, Billie and James. In 1946, Beulah married Herbert Vernon and of this union one child was born, Jack. She was united in marriage to Marion Carter in 1962.
Beulah was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, James in 1945, and Marion in 1996; three brothers, Ova, Ernie and Curt; infant sister and sister, Ella Faye and Marge; two daughters, Rae and Delores; one son, James; and one granddaughter, Angela.
Survivors include two brothers, John Chambers and his wife, Mary, Huntsville, Alabama, and Jim Chambers, Tarkio, Missouri; one sister, Imogene Mather, Shenandoah, Iowa; one daughter, Billie Smith and her husband, Giles of Tarkio; one son, Jack Vernon and his wife, Ginny, Fairfax; seven grandchildren, Renee Aurora, Omaha, Nebraska, Tony Burroughs, Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, Susan Robinson, Prescott, Washington, Rick DeBuhr, Rock Port, Missouri, June Bigack, Harmony, Minnesota, Jennifer Schoonover, Trimble, Missouri, and John Vernon, Fairfax; and great­grandchildren, Amber Galli and Anna Aurora, Dutch DeBuhr, Kimry, Jeremy, Troy and Hailey Robinson and Michael Burroughs; numerous step grandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.
Beulah lived most of her life in Atchison County. She was a hard working, fun loving woman. She and Marion moved to Texas for a few years but eventually returned to the farm east of Fairfax and moved into Fairfax in 1991. In 2003, Beulah moved to Pleasant View Nursing Home in Rock Port. She passed away there with family members at her side, Sunday, May 28, 2006.
Beulah loved to care for her home, her flowers and garden. She loved to cook, read and crochet. She made hundreds of beautiful crochet items that are now heirlooms to be treasured by her family and friends. She loved giving her handmade gifts.
Beulah loved to travel and she and Marion made many trips in their RV to fish and relax. She was a member of the Fairfax Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Memorials may be directed to the Atchison County Memorial Building.

Collins, Reba Mildred Lewis -

Graveside services and burial were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2005, at English Grove Cemetery near Fairfax, for Rebe Collins, Tarkio, Missouri, formerly of Fairfax. Services were under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Rebe Mildred Collins, daughter of George Hix and Jane (Combs) Lewis, was born near Fairfax on June 17, 1908, and died at Northview Manor Care Center in Tarkio, Missouri, on November 29, 2005. On May 21, 1938, she was married to Claude Robert Collins at Sidney, Iowa. They made their home in the Hamburg, Iowa, community until 1960, when they moved to Burlington Junction, Missouri. Later, in 1970, they moved to Fairfax.
Rebe was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamburg. Rebe's early education was from the West Bend Rural School. She graduated from Rock Port High School and while a student there, took teacher training. She then attended Northwest Missouri State Teachers' College in Maryville, Missouri, and began her teaching career in 1929 at the West Bend Rural School near Rock Port. She later taught at the Nishnabotna, Union, Cottonwood Grove and Bethany rural schools; then elementary grades at Watson, Missouri, Riverton and Hamburg, Iowa, ending her 24-year teaching career in 1955.
Though Rebe never had children of her own, she loved all her students and shared special memories and pictures with them as they visited her in later years.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Ellen Walkup and Bessie Shackelford; and her brother, Wilbur Lewis. She is survived by cousins and by one brother-in-law, Ellis Shackelford, Burlington Junction, Missouri. Dixon, Floyd N. -

Retired Army Lt. Col. Floyd N. Dixon, age 85, Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2007.
Lt. Col. Dixon was a professional soldier and master parachutist. He served in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, North Ireland, England, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Korea and Japan.   Lt. Col. Dixon was preceded in death by his wife and son.    He is survived by a brother,  Harry Dixon of Mesa, Arizona.
Graveside services were held on Monday, January 8, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the Post Cemetery on Fort Bragg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one's favorite charity. Services were under the direction of Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, Fayetteville.

Gibson, Wilma Carder -

Mrs. Wilma Wauneta Gibson, 90, Mound City, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 11, 2007 at a Mound City healthcare center. She was born April 21,1917 in the Blair Community, near Mound City, the daughter of Daniel and Jestie Ola (Cason) Carder. Wilma graduated from the Mound City High School.
Wilma worked for Division of Family Services in Mound City for 19 years before retiring. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Mound City. On January 9, 1936, she married Linus W. Gibson. He preceded her in death on September 8,1986.

She was also preceded by her parents; and her sister, Edith. Survivors include daughter, Joyce Chase of Granby, Colorado; son, Larry Gibson of Stanberry, Missouri; nine grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Pettijohn & Crawford Family Funeral Service, Mound City. Interment was made at Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City.

Gold, Scott McCloskey -

Funeral services were held on Monday, November 13, 2006, at 1 p.m. for Scott McCloskey Gold of Centerview, MO, at the Sweeney-Phillips and Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, MO. Interment was at the Union Grove Cemetery in Northboro, IA, at 12 noon on Tuesday, November 14, 2006.
Scott, 44, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at the hospital in Warrensburg. Scott was born in Fairfax, MO, on March 22, 1962, the son of Alvin J. McCloskey and Suzanne Kay (Mackoy) Gold. Scott was a graduate of the 1980 Class of Tarkio High School in Tarkio and received his B.A. from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO, in 1985.
Scott was a Sales Manager for Gumdrop Books of Bethany, MO. He worked all over the United States and internationally. Scott was a charming and generous man who brought out the best in people.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Alvin McCloskey; and his grandparents, Russell and Shirley Mackoy. Scott is survived by his beloved mate, Heather Link, of Centerview; his mother, Suzanne Gold, of Moberly, MO; his two sisters, Beth Gold and her husband, Gerrit van der Hoogt, of Fayette, MO, and Julie Gold and her mate, Chris Kyle, and their daughter, Alex, of Birmingham, AL; two uncles and two aunts; and many, many friends. Green, Flora Jean Martin -

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2006, at the Presbyterian Church in Fairfax, for Flora Jean Green. Rev. Nancy Profit officiated. Interment was made in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Flora Jean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Martin, was born northwest of Westboro, Missouri, on October 22,1907. She passed away September 18, 2006, at the Fairfax Community Hospital. She attended Oak Grove Country School and Fairfax High School. Her senior year she went to Tarkio High School where she graduated.
She loved music and took music lessons from Miss Veva Ballengee at the college for several years. Jean then had her own music class for several years. She joined the Fairfax Presbyterian Church at an early age and when grown, she always sang in the choir. Jean was also a former member of the Tarkio Rough Riders Saddle Club. She also loved to work outside in her garden and flowers.
On March 25, 1945, she married Martin Rheinard Green in Kansas City, Kansas. They lived northeast of Fairfax in her parents' home where they farmed and lived most of their married lives.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Will and Flo (Dragoo) Martin; three sisters, Essie Erwin, Irene Collins and Opal Barton; two brothers, Don Martin and Richard Martin; and a granddaughter, Taylor Green-Sillers. Survivors include one son, Roger, and daughter-in-law, Kay, who took care of her the last several years; one grandchild, William; and three great­grandchildren, Jetta and Carsyn Green-Sillers and Zachery King, all of Tarkio; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Hagee, Charles R. -

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednes­day, May 9, 2007, at the Fairfax Christian Church for Rev. Charles R. Hagee. Interment was made at Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham, Missouri, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax. Rev. Marcia Hagee officiated.
Charles R. Hagee, Jr., 72, Mound City, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, May 4, 2007. Charles was born on October 28, 1934, in Pickering, Missouri, to Rev. Charles Sr. and Florice M. (Morrow) Hagee.
Charles and Sue Hagee were married on May 25, 1956, in Mound City, Missouri. Charles retired in 1999 after serving over 50 years in the ministry. During his ministry he served over 11 churches in the northwest Missouri area. He was a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, St. Paul School of Theology and acquired a Doctorate in Theology from the McCormick Seminary in Chicago. Charles was a member of the Fairfax Christian Church, Fairfax.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Florice Hagee, and a brother, Gary Hagee. Larry W. Hale, 53, passed away surrounded by his family at 8:07 p.m., Wednesday evening, August 10, 2005, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Visitation was held Monday, August 15, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie, Missouri, followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Rodney Kenagy officiating.
Survivors include Larry's wife of 25 years, Shirley Hale; daughters, Leslie Smith of Camdenton, Missouri, Stephanie Mcintosh of Tarkio, Missouri, and Vicky Carter of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; mother, Doris Hale of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; siblings, Mike Hale of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Nancy Umbarger of Phillipsburg, Kansas, and Brenda Kenagy of Laurie, Missouri; grandchildren, Meagan and Savannah Smith, Casey, Tyler and Tristan Mcintosh, and Trevor and Nathan Carter; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Hale, Todd - Graveside services and burial were held at 11 am on Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at English Grove Cemetery in FAirfax, Missouri, for Todd X. Hale. Rev Rob Self officiated. Services were under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Todd was born in Great Lakes, Illinois, while his father, Carl, was serving in the United States Navy. He grew up in Burlington, New Jersey, and attended Burlington County Vocational High School where he graduated in 1980. Upon graduation from high school, Todd enlisted in the United States Navy and served for two years. After military service he worked as a chef and caterer.
This vocation financed his education in college and at the Computer Learning Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; After three years, Todd graduated at the top of his class at the Computer Learning Center. After completing his education, he was employed by Sharred Medical Systems in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, and also Quest Diagnostics.
Todd moved back to the Fairfax-Craig area in November, 2005, because he liked everything connected with the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Todd enjoyed life, he did the things that he wanted to do and he was a good son, always willing to help his parents. He passed away unexpectedly at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, on Friday, March 9.
Todd is survived by his parents, Carl and Carol Hale of Louisville, Ohio; a daughter, Amanda Coffman, Lee's Summit, Missouri; two brothers, Gerald "Brad" Hale, Craig, Missouri, and Terry Myers and wife, Julie, of Minerva, Ohio; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Harmes, Kathleen Delores Donelson -

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, at the Fairfax United Methodist Church for Kathleen Harmes, Tarkio, Missouri, formerly of Fairfax. Rev. Mike Eighmy officiated. Interment was made in English Grove Cemetery, Fairfax, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Kathleen Delores Donelson was born on July 27,1921, to parents, Melissa (Cox) and Harlan J. Donelson, farmers in the Dotham neighborhood east of Fairfax. Kathleen attended Fairfax High School and graduated in 1939. Because of her interest in children, she attended Northwest Missouri Teachers' College in Maryville, Missouri, graduating in 1943. Kathleen moved to Massena, Iowa, and became the home economics teacher at the high school. She taught for two years.
On December 9, 1945, she married Wilfred Lee Harmes, beginning their 58 years of marriage on a farm northwest of Fairfax. They had three children, William Fredrick, Cecilia May, and Nita Loree. She served as a leader for the Cloverleaf 4-H Club and was a longtime member of the United Methodist Women. Kathleen always enjoyed the friendship of her neighbors in the Chatterspin Club, a ladies social group.
Kathleen always described herself as a homemaker. She found an outlet for her artistic talents in her sewing, making most of the clothing for herself and her daughter. She particularly enjoyed planning and sewing a new outfit each spring for the alumni banquet. She wore lots of red dresses because that was Wilfred's favorite color. "Katy" was also a creative cake maker, providing pretty desserts for weddings, birthdays and anniversaries.
The role Kathleen enjoyed the most was that of grandmother. Nothing pleased her more than holding a grandbaby in her arms or making a fancy cake for a first birthday party. She delighted in hosting family dinners during the holidays. She studied the Bible daily.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred, in 2004; her son, William, in 1990; infant daughter, Cecilia; her parents; and a sister, Louise Burttram.
Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Nita Harmes, Gladstone, Missouri; sister, Sadie Ellen Steele, Ferguson, Missouri; brother, Jake Donelson, Shambaugh, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Patricia Harmes, Excelsior Springs, Missouri; grandchildren, Anna Weaver, Robert Harmes and Michael Harmes of Excelsior Springs; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Headrick, Walter N. -

Walter N. Hedrick, 89, died on Monday, July 18, 2005, at his home in Kansas City, Missouri. Services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, Missouri, on Saturday, July 23, 2005.
Born on May 13, 1916, in Davis, West Virginia, Walter was the son of the late Rose Belle and Samuel L. Hedrick. Walter graduated from Allegany High School, Cumberland, Maryland, and Frostburg State Teachers' College, Frostburg, Maryland. He taught junior high science in Luke, Maryland, for a brief time until he joined the U.S. Navy during WWII. He trained as an officer and served through­out the war effort aboard several ships as Lieutenant Commander. After the war, he guided the establishment of the U.S. Naval Reserve in Cumberland, Maryland.
After receiving a Master's degree in Business from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Walter returned to the Cumberland area, where he became a lifelong businessman. He was assistant plant manager of Celanese Corporation until he established Helmer and Hedrick Corporation in Cresaptown, Maryland. In 1964, Walter founded and served as president of Hedrick Concrete products in Sikeston, Missouri, for over 25 years until he retired.
Walter married the late Lois Williams on October 10, 1942, and they celebrated over 60 years of marriage. They were blessed with three children.
Walter believed in serving others through example. He was a Sunday school teacher for over 25 years, choir member, and lay leader in his church. Walter served as President of the Southeast Missouri Boy Scout Council and was recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. Walter was honored with the Alumni Achievement Award in 1995 and the Pinnacle Award in 2004 from Frostburg State University. He established scholarship programs for business and education students at Frostburg University and a seat in business ethics at the University of Michigan. He was a member of the Sikeston Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris fellow. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston and was also affiliated with numerous civic organizations.

Walter was an inspiration to his family through words and deeds. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, reading and revisiting his beloved Appalachian mountains. Walter believed in lifelong learning and that education was a key to a better world.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Lois. Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Suzanne Hedrick of Kansas City, Missouri, and Janet and James Hunter of Fairfax, Missouri; one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Donna Hedrick of Sikeston, Missouri; eight grandchildren; and one great- grandchild. Hedrick, Gerald "Dean" -

Gerald "Dean" Hedrick, age 83, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at Mercy Hospital. Dean was born March 22, 1923, in Fairfax, to the late Roy and Ora (Combs) Hedrick.
Dean graduated from Fairfax High School and served the country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Dean was a printer for the Daily Nonpareil for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post #2 and served in the Honor Guard.
Dean was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Hedrick on April 13, 2006; son, Larry Hedrick and two sisters. He is survived by stepdaughter, Latece Debomy of Carlsbad, California; daughter-in-law, Sandy Hedrick, Council Bluffs; grandchildren, Rodney Hedrick, Papillion, Nebraska, Terry Hedrick and Lisa Hedrick both of Council Bluffs; step grandchildren, Danielle and John Mark Debomy; and sister, Norma Jean Honer, Atchison, Kansas.
The body has been cremated and services will be Friday, December 15, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Garner Township Cemetery, Council Bluffs. Family and friends are to meet at the cemetery. Holloway, Nancy Sue -

Graveside services and interment were held on Monday, September 25, 2006, at Home Cemetery in Tarkio at 10 a.m. for Nancy Sue Holloway of Alexandria, VA, formerly of Tarkio. Reverend Eric Anderson officiated. Services were under the direction of Chamberlain Funeral Home of Rock Port, MO.
Nancy Sue Holloway was born on March 31, 1923, in Tarkio. She was one of three children born to Alfred M. and Gladdis E. (Murchie) Holloway. Nancy Sue passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2006, in an Alexandria hospital at the age of 83 years.
After Nancy Sue graduated from Dale View High School near Fairfax, MO, she then worked for the Department of Defense at the Pentagon for 42 years. She had the position of being the Director of Records Management and requisitioned men and materials for certain destinations.
Nancy Sue did beautiful embroidery and loved to work crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed reading.

Ingle, Beulah Blanche Stoner

Graveside services were held on Thursday, June 23, 2005, at Overbrook Cemetery, Lawrence, Kansas, for Beulah Blanche (Stoner) Ingle, 89 of Lawrence. Mrs. Ingle passed away on Sunday, June 19, at Oak Ridge Acres in Hiawatha, Kansas. Services were under the direction of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence.
She was born October 22, 1915, in Fairfax, the daughter of Leonard and Reena (South) Stoner. She was raised in Fairfax and graduated from high school in 1933. She had lived in Lawrence since 1940.
Mrs. Ingle worked at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant near DeSoto, Kansas. She later worked as a telephone operator for South­western Bell and retired after 31 years of service. She was a member of the Good Sam Club and Telephone Pioneers Club in Lawrence. Beulah loved being with her family and working with her flowers.
Beulah married Orville Ingle on November 25,1948, in Fairfax. He died in 1980. Survivors include two step­sons, Dean Ingle, Topeka, Kansas, and Jay Ingle, Shingletown, California; a stepdaughter, Carol Bell. Lawrence; a niece, who she helped raise, Bea Paris, Fairfax; 27 stepgrandchildren; 19 stepgreat-grandchildren; and 13 stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Peggy A. Jackson, 66, Destin, Florida, passed away October 9,2005, at a hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Peggy was born July 19, 1939, at a Hamburg, Iowa, hospital, the daughter of John Leslie Thompson and Golda (Harvill) Thompson. She married Kenneth Jackson and they were the parents of two children, Denise Lestie, Destin, Florida, and Johnny Jackson, Fulton, Missouri.
Peggy was preceded in death by parents, Leslie and Golda Thompson; twin sons; and a sister, Beverly Cobb.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Kenneth; her children, Denise and Johnny; five grandchildren, Zachary, Bobby, Ron, Leslie and Anthony; and mother-in-law, Edith Jackson, Tarkio, Missouri. Johnson, Mary Lou Yandell Knapp

Mary Lou Yandell Knapp Johnson, 45, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 24,2006, at a St. Joseph hospital. Mary Lou was born September 7, 1960, in Maryville, Missouri, raised in Craig, Missouri, and graduated from Craig High School. She had also attended Vatterott College in St. Joseph and worked in child care centers, most recently, at Mini Blessings Day Care.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Arnold and Velma Lee (Ross) Yandell; and her brother, Doyle Yandell. She married Terry L. Johnson on January 17, 2001. He survives of the home. She is also survived by one brother, Buddy Yandell of St. Joseph, MO; five sisters, Linda Sauer, Kansas City, MO, Boggy Allen, Nebraska City, NE, Debbie Matt, St. Joseph, MO, Vickie Montgomery, Greers Ferry, AR and Nancy Rigby, St. Joseph, MO; numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved pets, Otis Earl, Raven Marie and Ashes May.

Services were held Saturday, July 15, 2006, at Heritage Funeral Home, Parkville, Missouri, for Charles "Chuck" L. Jones of Parkville.
Charles "Chuck" Jones, age 59, passed away on Sunday, July 9,2006, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on August 5, 1946, in Maryville, Missouri, to Raymond and Imogene Jones.
He is survived by wife, Kathleen, of the home; son, Tommy, Parkville; step­daughter, Shelli Mannisto, Evanston, Illinois; stepson, Shane Leech, Belleville, Illinois; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three sisters, Betty Lindsay and Becky Schomburg, Tarkio, Missouri, and JoAn Whittington, Fairfax; three brothers, Bill, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Glen, Mission, Kansas, and Randy, Riverside, Missouri; uncle, Cyrus Jones, Fairfax; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ray of Lenexa, Kansas; and Leon, Riverside, Missouri.
Chuck attended school in Tarkio and Fairfax prior to moving to the Kansas City area. Chuck worked at General Motors in Fairfax, Kansas, for 37 and a half years before retiring in July 2005. He was a proud member of UAW Local 31 for 38 and a half years, he was a member and past commodre of the Missouri River Boating Association in Parkville since 1984. Chuck will be missed by all. He never met a stranger.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at the Craig Presbyterian Church in Craig, Missouri, for Linda F. Kemerling, Fairfax. Rev. Jim Brown officiated. Interment was made in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home.
Linda F. Kemerling, age 62, passed away at her home in Fairfax on Friday, March 2, 2007. Linda was born in Craig, Missouri. She was the daughter of Edward P. and Hazel (Barker) Rother. Linda grew up in Craig and attended school there, graduating from Craig High School in 1961.
After graduating from high school, Linda attended nursing school at the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in St. Joseph, Missouri, where she received her R.N. degree. She worked as a registered nurse at Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, and was later employed at Community Hospital in Fairfax, Missouri, where she retired from the nursing profession in 2005.
On June 25, 1977, she became the wife of Dick Kemerling. He preceded her in death in 1996. In addition to her father, Ed, and her beloved husband, Dick, Linda was also preceded in death by a brother, Glen Rother, in 2006; and an infant sister, Betty Joan.
She is survived by her mother, Hazel Rother, Mound City, Missouri; two brothers, Paul Rother, Craig, and Robert Rother, Mound City; and by nieces and nephews. Linda and Dick enjoyed gardening and traveling to south Missouri to visit their friends.

Kincaid, Mary Elizabeth Trimmer -

Mary Elizabeth Trimmer Kincaid, Plattsburg, Missouri, formerly of Mound City, Missouri, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at Clinton Care and Rehab in Plattsburg.
Mary was born on October 19, 1907, in Maitland, Missouri. She came from the Bayha and Trimmer families of northwest Missouri. Mary worked for Missouri Bank and Trust as a bank teller and bookkeeper in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a longtime member and active at the Mound City Methodist Church. Wherever she resided she left friends and compassion behind when she moved. Most important to her was her family who remained special to her throughout her life.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Moses Leroy and Bertha (Bayha) Trimmer; her husband, John K. Kincaid; and her brother, Gus Q. Trimmer. Survivors include her nephew, who she had a good hand in raising, David Trimmer and his wife, Paula, of Camden Point, Missouri; her great-niece, Shannon Quigley and her husband, Justin, and their son, Parker, of Prairie Village, Kansas; her great-nephew, David Trimmer, II, of Vail, Colorado; and extended family in the area.
Graveside services and interment were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, at Cowan Cemetery, New Point, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Pettijohn and Crawford Family Funeral Services, Mound City. The family suggests memorial gifts to Liberty Hospice.

Kruse, Fern Moore

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednes­day, May 10, 2006, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, near Fairfax, for Fern Kruse, Craig, Missouri. Rev. Rob Self officiated. Services were under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Craig.
Fern, age 84, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2006. Fern was born in Girdner, Missouri, on December 18, 1921. She was the daughter of William Harvey and Dora (McBride) Moore. Fern grew up in the Girdner area in southwest Missouri and attended school there. On June 25, 1940, she became the wife of Dale Kruse. Mr. and Mrs. Kruse moved to northwest Missouri in 1942, where Mr. Kruse was employed as a farmer and also had worked at International as a mechanic. They lived in rural Atchison and Holt counties before moving to the Craig community in 1962. Mr. Kruse preceded his wife in death in 1978.
Fern is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Alexander, Essex, Iowa, and Dalene Kruse, Craig; a son, Kenneth of Craig; three sisters, Velma Eddings, Gardner, Kansas, Gustava Porter, Seymour, Missouri, and Pauline Brooke, Ava, Missouri; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great­grandchildren.

Lawrence, Everett -

Graveside services for Everett W. Lawrence, 83, of Oldfield, Missouri, were held in West Huffman Cemetery, at 11 a.m. on March 28,2007, Douglas County, Ava, Missouri. A former resident of Fairfax, he was a farm laborer for Homer Browning and Ed Hunter later becoming an OTR truck driver until he retired because of ill health.
Everett passed away in his home on Saturday, March 24, 2007.The son of Lloyd and Maggie (Williams) Lawrence was born May 18, 1923, in Douglas County near the Merritt, Missouri, community. Everett attended school at Edora rural Tarkio, White Oak and Mound in Douglas County, Missouri.
Everett and Elma Adams were united in marriage August 25, 1939, and one son and three daughters were born to this union. On October 11, 1997, Everett and Barbara Melton were married in her home at Oldfield.
Everett was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Edgar Eugene in 1999; brother, John Lewis in 1941; mother of his children, Elma Lawrence, February 24, 2007; a great-grandson, Zephon Lawrence; brother-in-law, Dearl Johnson; and a nephew, Jesse Dearl Johnson.
Everett is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home; his four children, Lloyd Leroy Lawrence and wife, Sue, Lindale, Texas, Martha Jane Booth, Ava, Missouri, Alma Kathleen Tate, Tucson, Arizona, and Linda Jean Chapman and husband, Danny, of Sparta, Tennessee; one adopted daughter, Minday Snodgrass, Florida; seven stepchildren, Micky Millstead, Gary Millstead, Debbie Arnn, Cathy Sanders, Bob Felty, Sally Felty, Russell Yates; one sister, Mrs. Dearl (Mary) Johnson, Maysville, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-granchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; three nephews; six nieces and many caring friends. Mavity, Jessie May Mather - Funeral services were held at 10:30 am on Friday May 27,2005, at Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax, for Jessie M. Mavity, Tarkio, Missouri, formerly of Fairfax. Rev. David Wynn officiated. Interment was made in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, Iowa, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Jessie May Mather was born April 30,1905, in the rural Tarkio, Missouri, area to James Louis and Ida Jane (Lyon) Mather. She attended country schools through the eighth grade. During her high school years, she worked for board and room for various Tarkio families, graduating from Tarkio High School in 1924. With her diploma she received a two-year certificate to teach in country schools, a fact she was very proud of.
In 1925, she married James Henry Frohn. They made their home in Iowa for several years before moving to Atchison County where they raised three daughters and a son. Jim died in September of 1971. She later married William Henry Mavity, who is also deceased.
During her many years as wife, mother and homemaker, she was involved in activities including Atchison County Extension, 4-H leader, Band Mothers' Boosters and was a founding member of the BZN Club, a neighborhood social club. Jessie prided herself on being an independent lady and stayed alone in her own home until ill health made it necessary for her to become a resident of Northview Manor in Tarkio in June of 2004. She passed away at Northview Manor May 23, 2005, at the age of 100 years and 23 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; eldest daughter, Marilyn Joan Graves; brothers, Harry, Lewis, Harley and infant brother, James Francis; sisters, Maude Carter, Mary Taylor, Wilma Moody and Dorothy Kretchmer; and many good friends.

McCall, Russel E. -

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 23, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, Missouri, for Russel E. McCall of Tarkio. Services were conducted by Rev. David Wynn and interment was held in Tarkio Home Cemetery, Tarkio. Funeral services were under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in Tarkio.
Russel McCall, son of Lawrence B. and Macy E. (Walker) McCall, was born in Tarkio, Missouri, on July 28, 1935. Russel attended Center Grove and Tarkio schools in grade school and he completed junior high and high school in Leavenworth, Kansas.
While in Leavenworth, Russel worked for the V.A. Hospital and received numerous awards for his caring and professional service. He was also an expert welder and worked in the Missouri River Ship Yards. After moving to Tarkio in 1969, Russel owned and operated a construction business. He later worked for John Turnbull in the fertilizer business, and, in 1973, started a custom combine and haying business. In the late 1970's. Russel opened McCalls Service, a small engine repair shop, which soon became a full auto repair business. In 1986, Russel was employed by Werner Enterprises, in Omaha, Nebraska, as an over-the-road truck driver. He retired in 1996 after driving a million miles and ten years of service. The last four years of Russel's life were spent serving his friends by driving them to doctor's appointments and numerous other places.
On May 29, 1953, Russel was married to Barbara A. Pravatt. They had four daughters, Diane, Vicki, Amy, and Elizabeth. They were later divorced.
On July 13, 1973, Russel was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Fike at the Tarkio Baptist Church. To this union was born a daughter, Vanessa. They made their home in Tarkio, where they lived until the present time.
Russel was a member of the First Baptist Church in Leavenworth, Kansas, and had served on numerous boards in the church. He was also a board member for the Tarkio Nutrition Center as well as for the Nutrition Project Council out of Albany, Missouri. He had also served as a Scout Master for many years in Kansas. Russel passed away June 18, 2005, at Community Hospital, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 69 years.
Russel is survived by his best friend, Sharon, of Tarkio; five daughters, Vanessa Nesselhuf and her husband, Michael, Blue Springs, Missouri, and Diane, Vicki, Amy, and Elizabeth; three grandchildren, Katlyn, Andrew, and Lindsey; one brother, James L. McCall, Grand Junction, Colorado; and one sister, Helen Barbara Albin, Bolivar, Missouri.
Besides his parents, Russel was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Ann McCall. Memorials may be directed to the Tarkio Nutrition Center, Tarkio, Missouri.

McConnell, Charles "Mac" Goodloe -

Charles "Mac" Goodloe McConell, Jr., age 89, died on Monday, July 9, 2007. Mac was born June 10, 1918, in Fairfax, Missouri, the son of Charlie Grimes and Lillian (Carter) McConnell.
Mac served his country in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. He came to Tulsa in 1950 where he worked for 44 years as a claims adjustor for Farmer's Insurance Group. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge becoming a 32nd degree Mason. He loved horses and most especially loved his family.

Mac is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lorene Johnson McConnell; his son, Charles "Chuck" McConnell of Steamboat Springs, CO; three grandchildren, Lory Lacy, Jennifer Treece and Christopher Charles McConnell; five great-grandchildren, Quinn, Chelsea, Veronica, Clare and Regan Treece. Services were held on Thursday, July 12, 2006, in the Ninde Woodland Chapel with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery. McGinty, Rodney James -

Rodney James McGinty, 76, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2006, in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born on July 6,1929, in Lincoln, NE.
Rodney moved to Lake Havasu City seven years ago from Tarkio. He worked as an auditor for 27 years and was employed by Travelers Insurance Company in Peoria, IL. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and the United Methodist Church in Tarkio.
Rodney was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Wanda McGinty of Missouri. He is survived by his son, Douglas James McGinty of Stafford, VA; and daughter, Karen Adele McGinty of Denver, CO. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the Tarkio High School Gymnasium, Tarkio, Missouri, for Ashton Ty Meier of Tarkio. Services were conducted by Pastor Glenn Scott and interment was held in Home Cemetery, Tarkio. Funeral services were under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in Tarkio.
Ashton Ty Meier, the son of Gerald Ty Spanier and Cynthia Sue Meier, was born December 5,1985, in Garden City, Kansas. He passed away October 22, 2005, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, Missouri, at the age of 19 years. Ashton attended the Tarkio schools, graduating from Tarkio High School in 2004. He attended one year, and played basket­ball at State Fair Community College, Sedalia, Missouri. Because of a foot injury that required surgery, he was currently working at Pella in Shenandoah, Iowa, during the fall semester.
Ashton loved all high school sports, playing football, basketball, track, and golf, and participated in state track his junior and senior years. He played in numerous softball leagues, and refereed and umpired summer ball games. Ashton also enjoyed working with little kids' basketball and baseball. Ashton was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port.

Oswald, James K. "Jim" -

Funeral services were held for James K. (Jim) Oswald of rural Fairfax, Missouri, on Thursday, July 26, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fairfax United Methodist Church. Interment was held at English Grove Cemetery in rural Fairfax. Reverend Mike Eighmy officiated. Services were under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home of Fairfax.
Jim Oswald was born in rural Atchison County on April 9, 1919, to John and Amanda (Henderson) Os­wald. He was one of 11 children. Jim grew up on a farm east of Rock Port, Missouri, and learned to care for livestock and tend crops at an early age. He later served as a medic in the United States Army during WWII, stationed in the Philippines. Following his discharge, he was united in marriage to Jean F. Weedin on November 30, 1943. They established their home west of Fairfax and worked the family farm until his retirement at the age of 80.
Jim was a kind and gentle man who loved his family and friends. He always had a twinkle in his eyes when the grandkids were around. He took pleasure in being outdoors, hunting, gardening, and fishing on the Tark. He had one of the best cow herds around. Grandpa Jim enjoyed baling small square bales of hay on the hottest day of the year and then feeding them to the cows by himself on the coldest day in winter. Anyone who ever tasted his deep fried fish will tell you it was the best.

Jim was a member of the United Methodist Church of Fairfax, John Richards American Legion Post #284, and a former member of the English Grove Cemetery Board of Directors.
Jim went to his heavenly home on Monday, July 23, 2007, at the age of 88 years, 3 months, and 14 days. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, on April 23,2000; and one daughter, Rita Joyce Sonntag, on July 23, 2005.
Jim is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Mary Ellen Oswald and Marion and Tonya Oswald, all of Fairfax; four sisters, Jenita McNeal of Benson, Minnesota, Jennie Howell of Rock Port, and Betty Elder and Nancy VanGundy, both of Fairfax; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great­grandchildren.

Phelps, Effie Margaret McKenzie

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 9, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Rock Port United Methodist Church, Rock Port, MO, for Effie Margaret (McKenzie) Phelps of Rock Port. Services were conducted by Rev. Eric Anderson and interment was held at Greenhill Cemetery, Rock Port. Funeral services were under the direction of Minter Funeral Chapel in Rock Port.
Effie Margaret (McKenzie) Phelps, daughter of Royal Henry and Mary Winkler McKenzie, was born on July 29, 1925, on the family farm northwest of Macon, Missouri.
Margaret attended Centerville County School and graduated from Macon High School in 1943. Margaret then went on to state teachers' colleges at Kirksville, Maryville, and Tarkio. She received her B. S. degree from Tarkio College in May of 1961. Margaret later earned her Master's Degree as a Reading Specialist at Maryville State Teachers' College in May of 1971.
After college, Margaret taught for six years in rural schools of Macon County. She then moved to Rock Port, Missouri, to teach in 1949.
On August 4,1950, Margaret was united in marriage to Robert Lee Phelps at Chamberlain Wedding Chapel by Reverend Hauser Winter. They had three sons, Robert, David and Richard. Margaret and Robert also reared a grandson, Michael.
Margaret continued to teach for more than 30 years, retiring in 1983. Margaret passed away at her home in Rock Port on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at the age of 79 years.
Margaret loved family celebrations and get-togethers as well as big 4th of July parties for family and friends. Reading was a passion of Margaret's as well as traveling. Margaret also made many quilts and afghans.
Margaret was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rock Port, and was active in education, women's organizations and funeral dinners. Margaret was a charter member of the Continental Club and of the Piecemakers' Quilt Guild. She was also a member of Friends of the Library and organized and started the summer reading program for Atchison County. Margaret was a member of Rock Port Sorosis, the Rock Port Chapter #440 Order of Eastern Star, and volunteered for storytime at the rest home.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Robert Lee Phelps, of the home in Rock Port; three sons and their wives, Bob and Lahala, Bonney Lake, Washington, and David and Janet, Richard and Tammie, all of St. Joseph, Missouri; six grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Jennifer, Jason, Christina, Jeremy, Brandon, and Brett; one brother, John McKenzie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2006, at the Church of God in Craig, Missouri, for Wynne C. Reeves, Rock Port, Missouri. Interment was made at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Craig. Rev. Randy Brooks officiated.
W.C. Reeves, age 95, formerly of Hamburg, Iowa; Fairfax, Missouri; and, most recently, of Tarkio, Missouri, passed away February 9, 2006, at Pleasant View Care Center in Rock Port, Missouri. Wynne was born on a farm south of Oregon, Missouri, on January 7,1911, to Charley Jasper Reeves and Mabel Grace (Johnson) Reeves.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine, of 71 years; his parents; and sisters, Pansy, Helen, Iris and Patricia. He is survived by his brother, Avon, Kerrville, Texas; son, Richard, and wife, Macyl, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; daughters, Marilyn, and husband, Bill Lewis, Tekamah, Nebraska, and Rita, and husband, Dave Dyer, Gladstone, Missouri; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Wynne was a section hand for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 43 years. He attended the Church of God at Craig, Missouri. Wynne was an avid fisherman and hunter of game and morel mushrooms. Paul B. Rhoades, 88, Craig, Missouri, died July 15,2006, at his home. He was the eldest of 10 children born to John L. and Leola (Bright) Rhoades. Paul was born near Craig on October 22, 1917. He spent his life in the Craig area. Paul entered the United States Army on January 7, 1941, and was discharged in September, 1945, as a tech sergeant.
Paul was a 60-year member of the Story-Hardin Post #164 of Craig. He was married on May 7,1942, to Violet Dorothy Geib in Santa Monica, California, was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Junior and George; and one sister, Hazel Walla.
Paul is survived by his wife of the home; two sons, David W. and Frederick Paul Rhoades, I, Craig; three grandchildren, Pamela, Randall and Frederick, II; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Everett, Bigelow, Missouri, and James, St. Joseph, Missouri; and four sisters, Vera Kuhns, Yampa, Colorado, Minnie Schroeder, Arvada, Colorado, Ethel Mollus, St. Joseph, and Betty Hopkins, Fairfax.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 9,2006, at Sharp's Grove Cemetery, Craig, Missouri, for Ralph V. Rundle, Mound City, Missouri, formerly of Craig. Ralph Vernon Rundle, Sr.,age 92, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2006. He was born on June 11,1914, at Craig. Ralph was the youngest of 13 children born to Elbert and Eva (Wells) Rundle and was the only one surviving. Ralph grew up in the Craig community and attended school there.
Through the years, Ralph worked as a farmer, builder, and trucker; and as a laborer at the Maryville Co-op. During his lifetime, Ralph had a variety of interests. One of his main hobbies was wood­working. Ralph was a member of the Sharp's Grove United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, brothers and sisters, he was preceded in death by a son, Ralph, Jr., in 1958, his first wife, Evelyn, in 1968, and his second wife, Lucille, in 1997.
Ralph is survived by daughter, Jennie Luna and husband, Duane, of Mound City, Missouri; two step­daughters, Ava McCarthy, Craig, and Joy Root, Mound City; grandchildren, Rhonda Rhoades and family of Garnett, Kansas, Perry Luna and wife of Anderson, Indiana, and John Luna and family of Mound City. Seymour, Wilson Blaine -

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 14, 2007, at the Tarkio Presbyterian Church in Tarkio at 10:30 a.m. for Wilson Blaine Seymour of Tarkio. Reverends Rachel Lancey and Nancy Profit officiated. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Fairfax, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home of Fairfax.
Blaine, 79, of Tarkio, passed away at Bishop Spencer Place in Kansas City, Missouri, after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Disease on Thursday, May 10, 2007.
Blaine was born in the Milton community, Fairfax, on November 25, 1927, to Ralph and Una (Weedin) Seymour. He was a graduate of Fairfax High School in 1945 and Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, in 1950.
On February 11, 1951, Blaine married Rosalee Sly. They are the parents of three sons, Jayson Blaine, John Wilson, and James Ralph.
Blaine was engaged in a farming partnership and International Harvester dealership with his brother, Dale Seymour, for over 40 years. He also owned the Sly Lumber Yard.
Blaine was a Mason, Shriner, and member of Moila. He also was a member and elder of the Tarkio Presbyterian Church.
Blaine was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Charles Ralph Seymour. Blaine is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rosalee; sons, Jayson and wife, Pamela, of Kansas City, John and wife, Sarah, of St. Joseph, Missouri, and James and wife, Diane of Odessa, Texas; six grandchildren, Blaine and Jason of St. Joseph, and Justen, Kelsey, Kallie and Kristena of Odessa; a stepgrandson, Zachary Berkstresser of Kansas City; a brother, Dale and wife, Dorothy "Pat", and their children, Lane and his family, and Gale and her family; and cousins, Keith Seymour of Leawood, Kansas, and Joan Goins of Surprise, Arizona.

Sharp, Elisabeth Grace Zachary -

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at the Craig Presbyterian Church in Craig, Missouri, for Elisabeth Sharp, Mound City, Missouri, formerly of Craig. Rev. David Seward officiated. Interment was made in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Craig.

Virginia Elisabeth Grace (Zachary) Sharp, age 89, passed away on Friday, June 3,2005, at Community Hospital Association in Fairfax. She was born May 10,1916, in the Ross Grove neighborhood north of Mound City, the daughter of Paul and Marie (Nauman) Zachary. The family moved to the Lonesome neighborhood in 1932 and she graduated from Bellevue High School in 1934.
On December 15, 1941, Elisabeth was united in marriage to Billie E. Sharp. To this union was born one son, Billy Paul. They lived in the Craig, area most of their married life. Her husband passed away in 1986 and Elisabeth continued to live in her home in Craig until 2005 when she became a resident of Tiffany Heights.
Elisabeth was a life­long member of the Presbyterian Church at Pleasant View and Craig. She was a caseworker for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Maryville, Missouri. She served on the Craig Housing Board, volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program, and served as Democratic Committee woman in her township for many years.
Elisabeth thoroughly enjoyed her family and friends and loved the fellowship of being together. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include one son, Billy Paul, and wife, Carol, Mound City; grandsons, Chris and wife, Sheri, Mound City, Shawn and wife, Michelle, Bellevue, Nebraska, and Michael of Kansas City, Missouri; step-grandson, Mark Drewes, and wife, Cathy, Comanche, Texas; and stepgranddaughters, Lisa, and husband, Alan Yocum, and Lori and husband, Scott Laukemper, Mound City.

There are five great-grandchildren, and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren. A brother-in-law, Forrest Johnson, and nephew, Denny Wright and wife, Lillian, also survive her. Besides her parents and husband, Billie, her sister, Wilma Johnson, preceded her in death. Memorials may be directed to the Craig Presbyterian Church.

Shaw, Catherine Isabel Hammond -

Funeral services were held for Catherine Isabel (Hammond) Shaw of Tarkio on Thursday, June 15, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Tarkio. Interment was at Tarkio Home Cemetery in Tarkio. Pastor Glenn Scott officiated.
Catherine, the daughter of Lott Jerry and Lydia Ellen (Thompson) Hammond, was born on November 16, 1913, in Sidney, Iowa. She attended grade school in Nebraska City, Nebraska, and Percival, Iowa, and high school in Shenandoah, Iowa. After high school, she worked as a domestic for people in the community.
On January 23, 1939, Catherine was united in marriage to Wilfred James Shaw, Jr., in Red Oak, Iowa. They lived and farmed in the Emerson, Iowa, and Watson, Fairfax, and Rock Port, Missouri, areas. In 1960, they moved to Tarkio where Wilfred farmed for Raymond Carpenter. Wilfred passed away January 13,1972.
During 1972, Catherine became employed by Bethesda Care Center in Tarkio. In 1978, she began work for the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Rock Port where she was employed for 14 1/2 years, retiring in 1992. She continued to reside in Tarkio. Catherine passed away at her home in Tarkio on Monday, June 12, 2006, at the age of 92 years. She was a member of the Tarkio Church of God.
Besides her parents and husband, Catherine was preceded in death by one infant son, Charles; one daughter, Violet Angeline Shaw; three brothers, Lee, George, and Edward Hammond; and two sisters, Nettie Spencer and Maude Booker.

Garland N. Shipps, age 73, passed away on Friday, May 20,2005, at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville. He was born on December 17, 1931, in Overbrook, Kansas, to Earl and Nellie (Leuf) Shipps. On July 27,1957, he married Jeanette Stouffer in Fairfax. Mr. Shipps was a farmer and founder of Shipps Grain in Maryville. He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Preceding him in death were his parents and a son, Greg Alan Shipps (August 18,1997).
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Shipps of the home; son, Gary Shipps, and his wife, Mary Beth, Maryville; daughter-in-law, Deloris Shipps, Savannah, Missouri; grandchildren, Morgan and Garland "Jake" Shipps, Maryville, and Ashley Shipps, Justin Shipps and Tabitha Shipps, Savannah; sisters, Joann Peter, Maryville, and Gayle Lamb, Elliott, Iowa; and a brother, Dayle Shipps, Maryville.

Sillers, Taylor Brook Green

Funeral services were held Monday, August 22, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, Missouri, for Taylor Brook (Green) Sillers of Tarkio. Services were conducted by Pastor David Wynn and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Home Cemetery in Tarkio, Missouri. Funeral services were under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in Tarkio.
Taylor Brook Sillers was born January 25, 1981, in Bryan, Texas. She came to Missouri at an early age and resided in the Tarkio community with her parents, Roger and Kay Green. She attended Tarkio schools, graduating in 2001.
On July 4, 2002, Taylor was united in marriage to Chad Sillers. They made their home on a farm south of Tarkio and became the parents of two children, Jetta and Carsyn. For the last four years, Taylor was employed at Kawasaki in Maryville, Missouri, and worked in Quality Control until ill health forced her to retire. Taylor was presently making her home in Tarkio. She was a member of the Christian Church of Fairfax, Missouri.
Taylor passed away August 19, 2005, at Community Hospital in Fairfax at the age of 24 years.
Survivors include Taylor's daughter and son, Jetta and Carsyn, both of the home in Tarkio; parents, Roger and Kay Green, Tarkio; husband, Chad, Fairfax, Missouri; brother and sister-in-law, William and Nicole King, and nephew, Zachery, all of Tarkio; and paternal grand­mother, Jean Green, of Tarkio.
Taylor was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Harry and Lois Naico; and paternal grandfather, M. R. Green. Memorials may be directed to the Taylor (Green) Sillers Memorial Fund.

Rita J. (Oswald) Sonntag, age 56, of Atlantic, Iowa, formerly of Fairfax, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2005, at her home after battling ovarian cancer for four and a half years.

Rita J. (Oswald) Sonntag, 56, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Saturday morning, July 23, 2005, at her home after a four 1/2- year battle with ovarian cancer.
Rita Joyce Sonntag was born November 19, 1948, in Maryville, Missouri, to James Kenneth Oswald and Jean Frances (Weedin) Oswald. She was raised in rural Fairfax, Missouri, and graduated from Fairfax High School in 1966. She attended Northwest Missouri State, Maryville, Missouri, where she met her husband, Marvin Ralph Sonntag. They were married February 8, 1970, in Fairfax and then lived in Maryville, and Harlan, Iowa, from 1970 -1976. They then moved to Brayton, Iowa, to work their farm, large garden, and raise four children. They lived there until 2002 when they built their present home in Atlantic, Iowa.

Rita was a farm wife and a homemaker all her life and loved cooking, canning, reading and gardening. In addition to all that she found time to work at DeLong's in Exira, Iowa, from 1992 - 1997. After that she did part-time house cleaning and substitute cooking at the Exira Schools and the Exira Congregate Meal site.
Rita was a member of the Exira Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, and the Fairfax United Methodist Church. She also belonged to the Neighborhood Bible Study and the Jolly Neighbors Card Club. Since moving to Atlantic in 2002 Rita and Marvin spent many enjoyable times vacationing and traveling in their camper and on cruises. Surviving Rita are her husband, Marvin, of Atlantic; four children, Todd Joseph Sonntag and Jolene of Atlantic, Iowa, Steven Lee Sonntag and Mikalah of Prescott, Iowa, Dennis Michael Sonntag and Julie of Brayton, Iowa, and Rebecca Jean (Sonntag) Willrich and Brad of Casey, Iowa; her father, James Kenneth Oswald of Fairfax, Missouri; two brothers and their wives, Richard and Mary Ellen (Davis) Oswald, and Marion and then Tonya (Shineman) Oswald, all of Fairfax; 12 grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding her in death was her mother, Jean Frances (Weedin) Oswald.
Funeral services for Rita were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic with Father Dan Siepker celebrating and Father Fred Reischl concelebrating. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2006, at Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax, for Herbert Stephens, Tarkio, Missouri, formerly of Fairfax. Interment was made in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig, Missouri, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax. Rev. Steve Suttill officiated.
Herbert O. Stephens was born on January 23,1914, at Fairfax, Missouri. He was one of 10 children born to James E. and Mattie (Farley) Stephens. On September 1, 1937, he was married to Vera Marie O'Dell at the home of Rev. Charles Finch in Fairfax. To this union two daughters were born, Darla and Beverly.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents; an infant granddaughter, Debra Sue Bletscher; five sisters, Helen Davenport Sons, Lucille Carrel, Mary Lea Strack, Lora Mae Phillips, and Betty Downs; and by three brothers, Orville, Richard and James Stephens.

Thornton, Mary Francis -

Mary Francis (McVey) Thornton, 75, Fairfax, Missouri, (formerly of Tarkio, Missouri), passed away Sunday, July 24, 2005, at her home in Fairfax, following a lengthy illness.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Randell and Dawn Thornton, Fairfax; daughter, Sarah Schnakenberg, LaMonte, Missouri; three grandchildren, Melissa Cogdill, Mark Stewart, and Tyler Schnakenberg; and one great-grandchild, Mercy Cogdill. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
The body has been cremated and a private inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society. Services are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in Tarkio, Missouri.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7,2007, at the Fairfax Christian Church in Fairfax, for Darlene Volker, Fairfax. Rev. Allan Bash officiated. Interment was made in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Helen Darlene Volker was born August 10,1918, on the family farm south of Fairfax, the daughter of Charles and Anna Hawkins. At age six, she and her parents moved from the farm to Fairfax. She attended Fairfax High School, graduating in 1937. She started working as a telephone operator at the United Telephone office and worked there four years.
On April 20,1941, Darlene was united in marriage to Kenneth Allen Volker at the Christian Church in Fairfax. To this union three daughters were born, Cheryl, Linda and Janet. After residing in Fairfax for a few years, they moved to the family farm south of Fairfax in 1946 that was homesteaded by her family and where she lived for 64 years of her life.
Darlene was a lifelong member of the Fairfax Christian Church. She was a member of C.W.F. and always enjoyed helping with the Kiwanis Club meals. Darlene was a wonderful cook; you never went away from her home hungry. She enjoyed gardening and canning her home grown vegetables. She was a wonderful farm wife, taking food to the fields and always being available to assist her husband with any farm task.
Darlene devoted her life to her family, instilling her values upon them. She always put her family and friends first before herself. She will be remembered as a loving wife for 63 years, a beloved and cherished mother, and a devoted and caring grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
Darlene is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Chastain and son-in-law, Loraine, Fairfax; Linda Blakemore and son-in-law, Frank, Chillicothe, Missouri, and Janet Volker, St. Joseph, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jeremy Lewis and wife, Tiffany, Mound City, Missouri, Tara Brocke and husband, John, Bloomington, Illinois, Jill Kingery and husband, Ryan, Platte City, Missouri, and Kylie Deatz, Lake Forest, California; six great-grand­children, Addison and Riley Lewis, Natalie and Jack Brocke, and Trenton and Kendall Kingery; three stepgrandchildren, Lisa Erdman, Rock Port, Missouri, Shelly Toneske, Jackson, New Jersey, and Aimee Chastain, Lincoln, Nebraska.

Walker, Frank "Shorty" Harrison -

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at the Presbyterian Church in Craig, Missouri, for Frank "Shorty" Walker. Rev. David Seward officiated. Interment was made in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Craig.
Frank Harrison "Shorty" Walker was born on a farm near Fairfax, Missouri, October 16, 1910, the youngest son of Elbert Jerome and Louise Tude Walker. Frank grew up there, attended and graduated from the rural school in the Elkdale community in 1925. He attended Fairfax High School and graduated from there in the Class of 1929.
Frank then engaged in farming with his father until 1935 when he began the farming career for himself, continuing for his lifetime. On October 21, 1956, Frank was united in marriage to Ruby Hull McKee and they made their home in Craig, Missouri. Frank was a member of the United Methodist Church, Fairfax. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby, November 13,1992; his parents; two brothers; one sister; one niece; and one great-nephew. Patricia Lucille Minshall was born on October 12,1919, to Alpha and Dottie (Bryson) Minshall in Richardson County, Nebraska. She passed away on Monday, February 6, at the home of one of her grandchildren in Kansas City, Missouri.
Pat attended grade school at a country school and graduated from high school in Falls City, Nebraska. In 1936, she married Henry Clair Oliver at Falls City and they became the parents of three children, Kenneth Clair, Rita Kay and Lyle Lee. In 1948, the family moved to Fairfax where Clair operated a machine shop. Mr. Oliver passed away on February 12, 1962 and on October 12, 1963 Patricia married Winfred "Spoofy" Watkins. In addition to being a homemaker, Patricia also worked as a nurses' aide at Community Hospital. The Watkins' are members of the Fairfax United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents and her first husband, Clair, Pat was preceded in death by her oldest son, Kenneth, on May 21,1985. She is survived by her daughter, Rita Kay Prevette, of Hamilton, Ohio; son, Lyle Oliver, Monte Vista, Colorado; her husband, Winfred, Rock Port, Missouri; five grandchildren, Kim Prevette Perry, Brian W. Prevette, Kurt D. Oliver, Lisa Oliver Holstein and Jeffrey C. Oliver; and three great­grandchildren, Kathryn Elizabeth and Stephanie Anne Holstein and Nathan Oliver Norman Perry. Wiley, Alva L. -

Alva L.Wiley, Sr., age 79, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at his home in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Alva was born July 18, 1927, in Fairfax, to Ora Ben and Zeta Marie Wiley. He married Janie Josephine (Fletchall) Wiley August 30, 1945, in Troy, Kansas. Alva Lee "Bub" was born and raised around Dotham and attended school at Walkups Grove School and Daleview School.

He worked on a farm in Fairfax before moving to Edgerton, Wyoming, to work in the oil fields. The family moved to Fort Morgan in 1954. He worked 35 years for Allison Drilling Company as a truck driver and truck foreman. In August of 1985, he was presented a bronze plaque, "In Recognition of Dedicated and Loyal Service" at the company's 75th anniversary celebration at the truck yards in Fort Morgan. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Morgan and served on the Deacon Board and as an usher for many years.

Alva is survived by his wife, Janie "Jodie" of Fort Morgan; his seven children, Janie Marie Hubbell, W. Joy Erickson, Alva L. Wiley, Jr., Jack Ben and John Ball, all of Fort Morgan, Joseph Lynn, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Jerry Dean of Portland, Oregon; two brothers, Dean of Fairfax, and Marvin of Maryville, Missouri; one sister, Marie Gwennap, Omaha, Nebraska; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Nellie Jean; a sister, Irene Adkins; and two brothers, Ora Ben Wiley, Jr., and Billy Melvin.

A memorial service was held on Monday, February 12, at the First Baptist Church in Fort Morgan. Inurnment was in Memory Gardens.

Wiley, Belvadene Clements - Belvadene Clements Wiley, 67, Maryville, Missouri, died, Monday, July 9,2007, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St Joseph, Missouri. She was born February 11, 1940, in rural Guilford, Missouri, the daughter of Clell and Helen (Weathermon) Clements.
Belvadene married Marvin Wiley August 5, 1970, in Miami, Oklahoma. A 1958 graduate of Pickering High School, Belvadene attended Gard Business College in St Joseph, Missouri. She worked at Energizer for 23 years, retiring in 2002 and was a member of the Pickering United Methodist Church, Pickering, Missouri.
Belvadene was preceded in death by her parents and a niece. Survivors include her husband, Marvin, of their home; daughter, Holly VanHoutan, Big Lake, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Teresa Wiley and Pam Wiley, Amazonia, Missouri; four brothers, Jule Clements, Ravenwood, Missouri, Russell Clements, Maryville, Missouri, Richard Clements, Pickering, Missouri and Donald Clements, Hopkins, Missouri; five sisters: Lila O'Riley, Maryville, Ruth Anna Florea, Maryville, Sherrie McEnaney, Conception Junction, Missouri, Cleota Shell, St. Joseph, and Sue Waldeier, Kansas City, Kansas; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Windhorst, Willie -

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at the Fairfax United Methodist Church in Fairfax, for Willie E. Windhorst, Fairfax. Rev. Bob Francis officiated. Interment was made in English Grove Cemetery, Fairfax, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Willie Windhorst, age 92, Fairfax, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2007. Willie was born near Tripp, South Dakota. He was the youngest of seven children born to August and Maude (Holmes) Windhorst. Later the family moved to the Corning, Missouri, area. Willie attended a rural school in Atchison County, a short distance north of Corning. After finishing his schooling, Willie helped on the farm.
In 1942, he entered the U.S. Army and served in Field Artillery during WWII in Europe and Germany. He was discharged from military service in 1946.
On June 24, 1951, Willie married Mildred Palm in Shenandoah, Iowa. They were the parents of two sons, Gary of West Haven, Connecticut, and Wesley of Fairfax. In 1962, Willie and Mildred moved to the farm west of Fairfax where they raised their family and lived until 2005, when health required them to move to an assisted living facility.

In addition to his wife, Mildred, and sons, Gary and Wesley, Willie is survived by one grandson, Jonathon Windhorst. Willie was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Martin, Edward, Harry and Harold Windhorst; and two sisters, Edna Jackson and Kathryn Flanagan. Kyrah Shea Womochil, age five months, of Nebraska City, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2005, at St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City. Kyrah was born , May 6, 2005, at St. Mary's Hospital, Nebraska City, to Trisha Womochil and William "Bill" Thorne.
Kyrah was a precious baby who was dearly loved by her parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, aunt, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and other family friends. One of Kyrah's prized possessions was her stuffed turtle named Myrtle who went with her everywhere.

Woods, Donald - Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Nowata, Oklahoma, for Donald Woods, of Nowata, formerly of Fairfax. Inter­ment was made at Memorial Park Cemetery in Nowata under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata.

Don, age 73, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2006, at the Jane Phillips Medical Center. Donald LeRoy Woods was born August 2, 1932, in Coody's Bluff, Oklahoma, to Roy Woods and Delia Bell-Woods. He graduated from Fairfax High School in Fairfax and soon after married Lillian Claudine Bailey on June 11, 1950 in Mound City, Missouri. Mr. Woods worked as a troubleshooter for St. Joe Light and Power Company for 40 years. He was a past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Fairfax and had also received his 50-year pin. He had also served as a Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Fairfax.

Younger, Warren -

Warren Younger was born on the family farm near Fairfax on November 4,1921. He was the oldest child of Elmer and Ethyle (Lang) Younger. Warren grew up on the family farm and attended school in Corning. He had to quit school to help support the family after completing junior high school.
During World War II, Warren served overseas with the U.S. Army. In 1945, he was united in marriage to Marie Ward. They later divorced. Warren also was married to Vickie Ashford and Rhonda Wallace. He was a charter member of the Golden Arrow Bowhunter Club in Fairfax and also a member of English Grove Presbtyerian Church. Warren is survived by sons, Wayne, Fairfax, Roger, Kansas City, Don, Terry and Tony, all of St Joseph, Missouri; daughters, Marsha Straub, Fairfax, Dinah Hart, Breckenridge, Missouri, Mary Ann Younger, St Joseph, and Tracy Younger, Mound City, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Warren was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Lucille Voltmer, a son, Glen L. Younger; and a grandson, Jason Straub.

Zanna, Mary Peck -

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2006, at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel, Edina, Minnesota, for Mary Peck Zanna of St. Louis Park. Interment was made at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Mary Peck Zanna, age 90, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2006. Mary started teaching home economics in Marble, Minnesota, where she met her husband, Peter. During World War II she accompanied Peter to Sampson Naval Base in Geneva, New York where she worked as civil support staff at the base. She was a charter member of the Minikahda Garden Club, and served as city-wide chair person for the Camp Fire Girls' fund-raising candy sales in the 1950's. Mary was a graduate of Fairfax High School and she was confirmed in the Methodist Church in Fairfax.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Peter. She is survived by sons, Dr. Mark and wife Betsy of Waterloo, Ontario, and Dr. Martin (Tom) of Princeton, New Jersey; a daughter, Eleanor and husband, David Brown, Minneapolis, Minnesota; grandchildren, Adam and Jamie Zanna and Madeline Brown; sister, Eleanor Tanner, St. Louis, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. Mary will be remembered by her family as a selfless and loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was also her neighbors' friend.
