Adams, Hallie L. Kincannon Allen -

Hallie L. Adams was born on a farm near Fairfax April 10, 1907 the daughter of German P. and Alba Campbell Kincannon. She died at a nursing home in Omaha, NE. May 28, 1996 at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 18 days.
She grew up in the Fairfax area and attended school here.
She married Carl Allen and to this union six children were born. She divorced Mr. Allen and then married Glen Adams in 1951.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Glen Adams, in 1979; one son, Lee Allen and an infant daughter, Alma Katherine Allen; four brothers and one sister: Herb Kincannon, Clarence Kincannon, Wad Kincannon, Harvey Kincannon. Opal W. Atkins.
Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy J. Brown of Alexandria, VA: Geraldine Smith, St. Joseph; Eveta Brunk of Omaha, NE; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services were held at the Christian Church in Fairfax Saturday afternoon, with Rev. Allan Bash in charge. Interment was in English Grove Cemetery, west of Fairfax. Pallbearers were: Bill Graves. Roger Pennel, Pat Hale, Jerry Kincannon, Norman Mitchell, and W.P. Kincannon.

Andrade, Thauan de Jesus -

Thauan de Jesus Andrade passed away on January 15, 2012, at the age of 18 years, 11 months, and 13 days. He was born February 2, 1993, in Gama, Brazil, to Teonilia Rosa de Jesus and Paulo Andrade. During his childhood, Thauan lived in Brasilia, Brazil, and attended school there. He moved with his mother to Craig, Missouri, in April, 2005, when Teo married Larry Flanagan.
He was a senior at Craig R-III School, where he was in football, basketball, track, and band. He was active in FFA, FBLA, FCCLA, student council, and the math and science club. During the summer, he worked for Larry at his fireworks stores. Thauan was also a member of Craig's Volunteer Fire Department.
Thauan was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his parents, Larry and Teo Flanagan; two half-brothers, Wlisses and Leonardo; two half-sisters, Leticia and Ana Paula, all of Brazil; his sister, Juli Dawn, of the home; and honorary grandmother, Diana Vernon of Craig. Survivors also include a niece and a nephew, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in Brazil, and countless friends in both countires. Thauan loved football, track, his little sister Juli, and spending time with his girlfriend, Emily VanGundy.

Known as the Brizilian Nightmare because of his ability to flummox opponents on the athletic field, Thauan had a contagious million-dollar smile that could make anyone's day. He was always there for his friends, and would help anyone no matter what. He loved to pull pranks, but no one could stay mad at him. He was reliable, loved by everyone, and truly amazing.
On the field, court, or track, he gave 100%, some­times playing hurt, refusing to give up or give in. Often he didn't even know the score until the game was over - he played for the love of the game. He brought fun-loving energy to everything he did, was always in a good mood, and was friends with everyone.
He always looked forward to family trips to Brazil to visit his family and friends there.
Thauan will be remembered as a beloved son, brother, and friend, and his absence will leave a huge void in many lives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Craig School auditorium in Craig, Missouri, conducted by Rev. Keith Knaak. Barton, William "Bill" R. and Ruth L. Barton -

Ruth (Sahlin) Barton, 85, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012, and her husband, William "Bill" R. Barton, 86, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012, both at Saxton Health Care Center, St. Joseph, Missouri.
Bill was born on July 22, 1926, in Farragut, Iowa, to Merle and Opal (Martin) Barton. He served in the Navy for two years, 1944 through 1946. He was a graduate of Tarkio College. He worked as a communication tech for St. Joseph Light of Deer Park Grace United Methodist Church, St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce and Missouri Valley Radio Club, where Bill was past president.
They were preceded in death by their parents, and nephew, Michael Fudge.
Survivors include Ruth's sister, Meredith Fudge, Lawton, Oklahoma; Bill's siblings, Blaine Barton, Shenandoah, Iowa; and Beverley Slemp, of Fairfax, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Deborah Rhodes, Douglas Slemp, Cynthia Webster, Chris Barton, Sharon Currey and George Fudge.
Joint services were held Friday, October 19, 2012, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. The family suggests memorial contributions to the charity of the donor's choice.

Benne, Max Bernard -

Max Bernard Benne, age 90, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at the Tiffany Heights Care facility in Mound City, Missouri.
Max was born on May 9, 1919, to Bernard H. and Anna Horky Benne in their farm home in Morrowville, Kansas. He attended a country school and graduated from Morrowville Rural High School in 1936. After a brief stint of teaching in rural schools, he attended Kansas State University and completed two and a half years before enlist­ing in the U.S. Navy.
In July of 1942, Max married Amy Lucyle Hoffman in San Diego, California. Later that year, he was transferred to the 2nd Marine Corps Division as a Pharmacist Mate. Max served in New Zealand, Hawaii, and participated in the 1944 invasion of Saipan. Max was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1945. Later that year, Max enrolled in the University of Nebraska and completed a BS in Agriculture in 1947, followed by a degree in Law in 1949.
The couple moved to Fairfax, Missouri, in 1950, where Max established a law practice. As a Navy Reservist, he was recalled that year to duty in the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1953. In 1956, he acquired an additional law practice in Mound City and moved there in 1957. Max retired from the law practice in 1999. Health issues required a move to Tiffany Heights Care Center in August, 2007.
Max served as Prosecuting Attorney in both Atchison and Holt counties. He was a Life Member of the American Legion Post #0121 and a member of the VFW Post #442. He was a 60-year honoree of Kiwanis International and served as a Lt. Governor of the MO-ARK District. He was also an early supporter and member of the Community Hospital-Fairfax board. Max was an enthusiastic participant in photography, genealogy, golf, bridge, and community and church activities. He, with Lucyle, were dedicated sponsors of the United Methodist Church youth groups for many years. Max enjoyed sports' events, theaters and hanging around libraries.
Max is survived by his wife, Lucyle; a sister, Mae Benne, Seattle, WA; sisters-in-law, Marie Emrick, Fairfax, MO; and Katherine Hoffman, Tallahassee, FL; nieces and nephews; cousins, and friends. Boettner, Helen May Garst -

Helen May (Garst) Boettner, daughter of George W. and Rosella May (Morgan) Garst was born on February 9, 1904, in Watson, Missouri. She passed away at her home near Eureka Springs, Arkansas on July 26,1995 at the age of 91 years.
As a child she attended elementary school in Watson, Missouri. Then traveling by train and boarding during the school months, she completed her high school education in McPherson, Kansas. Following high school she attended McPherson College in McPherson, then graduated from the Thompson School of Music.
Helen was a worldly traveler. Her trips to such countries as Egypt, Africa and Australia provided many memorable photographs for her family.
On February 22, 1932 she was united in marriage to Clifford Boettner. They lived in the Lone Cedar area near Rock Port until 1965 when they moved to their present home in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
Helen was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Eureka Springs and she also had a love for chow dogs.
Survivors include: her husband, Clifford of the home; one nephew: Robert Lee Stanton, Rock Port, Missouri; three great nieces: Cheri Diane (Stanton) Zimmerman, Rock Port, Judith Ann (Stanton) Walker, Spokane, Washington, Mabel Esther (Furkin) Smith, St. Joseph, Missouri; two great nephews: Daniel William Stanton and Robert Keith Stanton, both of Rock Port.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mabel Grace (Garst) Stanton, nephew Donald Paul Stanton, and niece Hope (Stanton) Furkin.
Services were held on Friday, July 28, 1995 at Linden Cemetery. Arrangements were by Minter Funeral Chapel.

Bolton, "Jack" - Willard Clarence Jack -

Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 30, 2008, at the Presbyterian Church in Fairfax, for Jack Bolton, Fairfax. Rev. Nancy Profit officiated. Interment was made in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.  

Willard Clarence Jack Bolton, 74, Fairfax, Missouri, entered into the arms of his heavenly father on March 27, 2008, in Fairfax. Jack was born March 14,1934, in  Fairfax, the son of Guy and Fae (Proud). He graduated from Fairfax High School and served in the United States Army from 1956 to June 1958. He was a heavy equipment operator in Korea. Jack served four years in Korea and two years in the reserves.

Jack married Patricia Marie Belsly on April 16, 1960. For the past 47 years they have lived on their farm in Fairfax, where Jack enjoyed farming and being a mail carrier.
Jack was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Fairfax, where he served as a past Deacon. He enjoyed being a member of the Blue Lodge, Scottish Rites, Order of the Eastern Star, Moila T's   Shrine with the Model T's unit. He was also a member of the American Legion and Honorary Member of the Optimists. His love of life was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Carpenter work and listening to all types of music and dancing were very enjoyable for Jack. Growing sweet corn and vegetables  to give to others gave Jack much pleasure.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Fae Bolton; sister, Louise Cline;

Breeden, Champ T.-

The Reverend Champ T. Breeden, Jr. was born on Nov. 7, 1934, in Washington, D.C., the son of Champ T. Breeden and Gladys H. Poore. He was a graduate of Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana, Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Mo. and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. In 1960 he was ordained a Deacon in the Southwest Missouri Conference at Joplin, Mo. and in 1963 he was ordained an Elder in the Missouri West Conference at Fayette, Mo. He served in many churches, including Fairfax 1963-1970.
He served over 22 years on the conference Board of Ordained Ministry, eight years of that time he was the chair of the board. He also served four years as the chair of the conference Board of Trustees in addition to serving on numerous conference and district boards and committees.
Rev. Breeden joined the Missouri Army National Guard in 1966, and in 1987 he transferred to the Army Reserves and was assigned Staff Chaplain of the 325th General Hospital in Independence, Mo. He retired from the military in 1993 with the rank of Colonel.
He was a member of the Order of Saint Luke since 1956. He was a member and Past Master of Christian Masonic Lodge 392 in Oak Grove, Mo. and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was past president of the Sni Valley Rotary Club and two years as president of the Liberty Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of the home; three sons, Champ Gary of Oak Grove, Mo., Steven Michael of Richmond, Mo., and David Andrew of Marshall, Mo.; one brother, Franklin John and his wife Dee of Grapevine, Tx.; and American Field Service daughter, Marita Blank Matthies and her husband, Bernd of Brake, Germany; two granddaughters, Candace Nicole and Maria Elise Breeden.
Services were held Saturday, August 5,1995 at Linn Memorial United Methodist Church in Fayette, Mo.
Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove, Mo.
Memorial contributions may be made to the endowment fund for the Missouri Area Minister's School or Wings Over Mid America. These can be sent to the Central District Office in Marshall.

Carson, Helen Marie Schlotzhauer -

Helen Marie Carson, age 96, living in Cardiff by the Sea, California, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012, peacefully in her sleep from natural causes.
Born in 1916 as Helen Marie Schlotzhauer, she grew up on a farm in Kansas, and graduated from the University of Kansas as a piano and English major and then taught piano. She married Glen Verlin Carson, an architect, and started a family in Fairfax, Missouri, his hometown. Later, the family moved to New Jersey, where he directed the Property Department of the United Presbyterian Church, as they raised their family. Retirement took them to eastern Tennessee, and finally to Clarksville, Arkansas. Following Glen's passing, Helen moved to Cardiff by the Sea, California, to be near her daughter, Colleen. She lived nearby for 14 years, followed by four years in their home. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she was admired and loved by all and greatly missed.
Helen is survived by her three children: Mary Zigmond, with husband Richard in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and son Ezra; Glen Verlin Carson, Jr., with wife Marsha in Slidell, Louisiana, and married stepdaughters, Brandy and Peter Germonpre, and Whitney and Patrick James Horrigan III; and Colleen Elaine Lemke, with husband Clark in Cardiff, California, and their married son and daughter, Brice and Katherine Lemke and Adrienne and Brian Sodeman.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 27, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. in English Grove   Cemetery, Fairfax, Missouri, where she will join her husband already there. Close, Anthony L. "Phil" -

Anthony L. "Phil" Close, 94, passed away at his Skidmore home on April 16, 2012. He was born December 9, 1917, in Atchison County, Missouri. Phil graduated from Daleview High School in 1935.
On April 9, 1939, he married high school classmate Edna Pearl Ray. They became parents of two children. Phil was a lifetime resident of the area, and farmed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice (Huggins) and Charles W. Close; son, Philip Ray Close; brothers, Charles, Edward and John; and sister, Edith Henson.
Phil is survived by his wife of 73 years, Edna Pearl, of their home; daughter, Peggy Jo Kruse, Glenwood, Iowa; four grandsons, seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Phil was a lifelong member of the St. Oswald's- in-the-Fields Episcopal ' Church. He served on the Daleview School Board and the County Highway Board. He also served as a director member of the Federal Land Bank Association, St. Joseph and Maryville.
Services were held Friday, April 20, 2012, at the St. Oswald's-in-the-Fields Episcocpal Church, with interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City, Missouri. Memorials may be made to the church. Online condolences may be left at www.chamberlainfuneral.com.


Cottle, Elmer Lee -

Funeral services were held on Wednesday after­noon, March 26, 2008, at the Fairfax United Methodist Church in Fairfax, for Elmer L. Cottle, Maryville, Missouri. Rev. Bill Gazaway officiated. Interment was made in the Masonic Cemetery in Skidmore, Missouri, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Elmer Lee Cottle, age 101, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Parkdale Manor Care Center in Maryville. He was born on September 27,1906, to Nathaniel Francis and Clara Belle Wilhite Cottle of South Haven, Kansas, and was the next to youngest of 12 children. Elmer attended Carriager Grade School and graduated from South Haven High School in 1925. He farmed in rural Skidmore, Missouri, most of his life.
Elmer married Ermil Etoila Stevenson on June 1, 1938, at the family home in rural Skidmore. They bought the farm in December, 1939, from Ermil's family, the George Stevensons, and resided there most of their lives. Their farm is listed as a Century Family Farm. To this union six children were born: George Franklin, Merle Lee, Steven Elmer, Hubert Erman, Philip Arnold and Phyllis Ann.
Elmer loved fishing, hunting and sports. Most of all, he loved to plav checkers and played by mail all over the United States, Canada and Europe. He also played in many checker tournaments in the United States and won the Missouri State Fair Tournament in 1979. Elmer won his last first place trophy at the Bedford Fair Tournament in July, 2003, at the age of 96. He was a member of the Missouri Checkers' Association and was one of the nationally ranked players for many years.

Elmer loved to joke! He had a keen sense of humor and loved to tease his family and nurses. He was an avid supporter of Fairfax High School sports and rarely missed a home game.
Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Ermil (November 1,1974); sons, George (December 20, 1972), and Merle (February 15, 2002); as well as a great-grandson, Quinten Robert Grossoehme (November 14,2005). He was also preceded in death by brothers, Carl, Charles, Roy, Earl, Merve and Freddie; and sisters, Edna, Maude, Letha, Jessie and Ina.
Elmer is survived by sons, Steven of St. Charles, Missouri, Hubert, Fulton, Missouri, and Philip of Maryville; as well as a daughter, Phyllis of Pickering, Missouri, and her husband, Steve Carmichael. He is also survived by daughters-in-law, Nadine Cottle Ashmore, Greenfield, Iowa, and Retta Cottle, Avoca, Nebraska; along with 13 grandchildren; 27 great­grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Dixon, Doris Lucille Pittman -

Services were held on Friday, April 25, 2008, at the Fairfax Christian Church for Doris Dixon, Warsaw, Missouri, formerly of Fairfax. Interment was made in English Grove Cemetery, Fairfax, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Doris Lucille Dixon, age 85, passed away Monday, April 21,2008, at the Warsaw Health and Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw, Missouri. Doris was born January 5, 1923, in Savannah, Missouri, the daughter of William J. and Ruby V. Pittman.
Doris attended Savannah School and graduated from Savannah High School in 1941. She then graduated in 1941 from Parisian Beauty School in St. Joseph, Missouri. She was a beauty operator until the age of 80, retiring due to health problems.
Doris married Donald L. Dixon of Fairfax, on February 16, 1941. They moved to Omaha, Nebraska, and she worked at Lorenzo Beauty Salon, Brandeis Store, for seven years. They returned to Fairfax in 1949, where she worked for McNeil Beauty Shop. In 1955, Doris opened her own beauty shop in her home where she continued fixing hair until the age of 80.
She was a member of the Christian Church of Fairfax. Doris was a wonderful and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Doris is survived by two sons, Donald L. Dixon and wife, Maxine, of Warsaw, and Bill G. Dixon and wife, Maria, of Ninety Six, South Carolina. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jimmy Don Dixon, Fairfax, Deanna Dixon, Wellsville, Kansas, Michael Dixon, Greenwood, South Carolina, and Julie Maxie and husband, Chris, of Greenwood; three step-grandsons, Luke Salley and Wesley Salley, Denver, Colorado, and Willie Salley, Warsaw; one sister, Stella DeWees, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; other relatives; and many friends. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Dixon; her parents, William and Ruby Pittman; and a grandson, David Dixon. Donelson, Harlan "Jake" Jacob

Harlan (Jake) Donelson
Harlan Jacob (Jake) Donelson, Jr. went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 14, 2011, at the Bryan Heart Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born November 17, 1925 in Fairfax, Missouri, the third child and only son of Harlan Jacob Donelson, Sr. and Melissa Cox Donelson. Jake had three sisters: Kathleen, Louise and Sadie Ellen.
Jake attended the Evening Star Country School and was a boy scout. In high school he was active in FFA. He graduated from Fairfax High School and, at the age of 17, he joined the Army Air Force and served in W.W. II. At Iowa State University, he met the love of his life, Eudora Ann Williams. They were married August 29, 1948.
While at ISU, Jake sang in the Collegiate Methodist Choir and was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture, Jake began a lifelong career in the field of Agriculture. This included teaching Agriculture to G.I.s after W.W. II, farm management and eventually the manufacture of grain equipment. He and his wife Ann co-owned and operated a grain-handling equipment-manufacturing company. Jake held 16 U.S. patents. He was a past president of the Iowa Inventor's Congress, served on the Marshalltown School Board and was listed in Iowa's Who's Who for his field. In his retirement years, Jake worked for Aegon Insurance in Texas. He enjoyed fishing, flying model airplanes, traveling, but most of all, time spent with his family. He built or remodeled three different family homes.
Jake was a devoted Christian, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his father and mother; step­mother Grace Donelson; sisters, Kathleen Donelson Harmes and Louise Donelson Burttram; niece, Nickalyn Mitchell Roberts; and nephews, Bill Harmes, Don Burttram and Joe Steele.
Jake is survived by his loving wife, Eudora Ann Donelson of Shambaugh, Iowa; children, Kathryn Collins and husband, Chip, of Dickson, Tennessee, David Donelson of Dallas, Texas and Pamela Burns and husband, Charles, of Garland, Texas; sister, Sadie Ellen Steele; grandchildren, Robert Collins and wife, Rachael, of Atlanta, Georgia, Melissa Collins of Houston, Texas, Megan Collins of Bryan, Texas, Emily Donelson Vaughn of Dallas, Texas, Anna Burns of Garland, Texas and Adam Burns of Garland, Texas; great­grandchildren, Stella Vaughn, Chloe Collins and Nicholas Adam Fitzgerald; nieces, Nita Harmes, Pat Harmes, Anne Janssen and Patricia Maloff; nephews, Harmon Burttram, Jim Steele, Bradley Mitchell, Blaine Mitchell and Steven Williams; brothers-in-law, Wendell Mitchell and Dr. Wendell Williams; and sisters-in-law, Dr. Christina Mitchell and Gretchen Williams.

The memorial service was held at the United Methodist Church in Shambaugh, Iowa. Jake was buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in College Springs, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to United Methodist Church or Harvest Fellowship Church both in Shambaugh, Iowa. Funeral arrangements were handled by Walker-Merrick Funeral Home of Clarinda, Iowa.

Douglas, Susan Swan

Funeral services for Susan Douglas, Maryville, Missouri, were held on Tuesday, March 11,2008, at the Fairfax Baptist Church in Fairfax. Rev. Rob Lilly officiated. Interment was made in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.

Susan was born and grew up in the Fairfax community. She was the daughter of Doyne and Virginia (Carter) Swan. Sgasan attended Fairfax R-3 schools, graduating from high school in 1970. She attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education in 1973.

On May 25, 1975, Susan became the wife of Rick Douglas. Rick and Susan have lived in several communities in northwest Missouri, with most of their married life being spent in Mound City, Missouri, and Maryville.
Susan taught high school business at Nodaway-Holt in Graham, Missouri, the last 15 years, where she was the FBLA and junior class spon­sor. She also taught at South Holt in Oregon, Missouri, and Jefferson in Conception Junction, Missouri. In 1999, after helping raise her family, Susan was awarded her Master of Science degree in Vocational Business Education. Susan grew up attending the Fairfax Baptist Church and she and Rick still attended church there. She was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma social sorority alumni chapter at Northwest Missouri State University.
Susan, age 56, passed away at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri, on March 7, 2008, after a long battle with breast cancer.
She is survived by her husband, Rick, of the home in Maryville; her daughter, Kari Newberry and husband, Nick, of Platte City, Missouri; two sons, Ryan of Maryville and Christopher of Lincoln, Nebraska; her parents, Doyne and Virginia Swan, Fairfax; her brother, Stan Swan and his wife, Karen, of Colleyville, Texas; and a host of family and friends. Dukes, Reve' Taylor -

Reve' Dukes, age 91, of Richmond, Missouri, and formerly of Craig, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond. Funeral services were held on Friday, May 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Interment was made in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax, under the direction of Thurman Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dukes was born March 3, 1917, in Fairfax, to Earl J. and Katherine Jane (Martin) Taylor. She married Harry B. Dukes of Craig, on May 7, 1939. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1999.
Mrs. Dukes was a homemaker. She lived in Craig, before moving to Richmond in 1990. She was a member of the Craig Presbyterian Church. She was co-manager of the Craig Hy-Klas Grocery Store for many years.
Survivors include two daughters and two sons-in-law, Karla Voltmer, Richmond, Danielle and Bob Peters, Urich, Missouri, and Bob Lauk, Richmond; two grandsons, Aaron Lauck and and his wife, Natalie, and Ryan Lauck. Memorials may be directed to the Craig Presbyterian Church or to the Richmond United Christian Presbyterian Church.

Dunkle, William B. -

William B. Dunkle, 59, St. Joseph, Missouri, died Thursday morning, May 30, 1996 at a local hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Dunkle had been employed as a radio operator with the Missouri State Highway Patrol from 1960 until 1980. He had been employed as a psychiatric aid with the State Hospital between 1986 and 1995. Most recently he had been employed part-time at Hodson's Cleaners.
Born November 16, 1936 in Mitchell, Nebraska, Mr. Dunkle was raised in Fairfax, MO.. He had lived in California for a time and had lived most of his life in St. Joseph.
He served in the United States Navy and U.S. Air Force.
On June 23, 1995 he married Jacqueline M. Spiegel in St. Joseph. She survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Fran Hayes; his second wife, LaVon Barr; an infant sister, Lois Agnes Dunkle; and his parents, Marvin N. and Dorothy L. Dunkle, Sr.
Additional survivors: two daughters, Joni Delaney, Stacy, Minnesota; Lisa Muetzel, Piano, Texas; two sons, Bradley and John Dunkle, both of St. Joseph; four sisters, Alice Thomas, Eva Clark, both of St. Joseph; Eula Clark, Elizabethtown, Tennessee; Ruth Oliver, Simi, California; one brother, Marvin N. Dunkle, Jr., Loveland, Colorado, and three grandsons.
Services were held Saturday afternoon at the Meierhoffer-Fleeman Funeral Home in St Joseph. Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, St Joseph.

Elliott, Margaret E. Cain -

Margaret E. Elliott, 87 of Rock Port, died Tuesday morning, July 18, 1995 at Pleasant View Care Center, where she had been a resident since 1988.
The daughter of Charles K Cain and Bess Mae McEwen Cain was born Oct. 16,1907 at Deep River, la. She graduated from Deep River High School in 1926 and attended Cornell University at Mt. Vernon, la. and Coe College at Cedar Rapids, la. where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in secondary education. She taught high school and junior high English at Hartwick and Maxwell, IA from 1930 to 1934. She led her high school debate team to state honors during that time.
On Nov. 24, 1934 she was united in marriage with Melvin D. Elliott at Newton, IA. They lived east of Montezuma on Hwy 85 and farmed their entire married life. She was very active in the United Methodist Church, as she was president of UMW and Mary Martha Circle for a number of years. She was a member of Lafayette Chapter No. 232 OES for 50 years and held the position of worthy matron many times and was also Regional District Worthy Matron. She had been a member of Mothers Club.
Margaret was a dedicated Republican and worked diligently for the party. She was a National Republican Representative for 10 years and was a Republican committeewoman for Poweshiek County for 40 years, serving as president of the organization many times.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin on Feb. 28, 1989; and one brother, Charles Raymond Cain.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Margaret and Donald Mobley of Rock Port; three grandchildren, Neil Mobley, Denver, CO; Pamela McKim, Kirksville; Julie and Jim Oswald and great granddaughter, Jill of Lee's Summit.

Gubser, George F. -

George F. Gubser, Sr., was born in Fairfax, on December 17,1928, and passed away in Omaha, Nebraska, on February 29,2008, at the age of 79 years. He was the son of Ben F. and Faye Gubser and he grew up on a farm west of Fairfax.
George was a graduate of Fairfax High School and joined the Air Force shortly after graduation. After the service he worked in Omaha for Snow Corporation (a manufacturer of farm equipment) and then later on he worked at Loziers until his retirement.

George married Betty Stevens of Omaha, and they are the parents of four children, Stephanie (Jeff) Lopez, George (Sandy) Gubser, Jr., Jeanette (Gregg) Pinker and Deborah (Tom) Kozusko, all of Omaha. He has six grandchildren; four stepgrand-children; and eight great­grandchildren. Brothers and sisters are Phyllis (Clyde) Fletchall, Maxine (Clarence) Porter, Ramona Cunningham, Raymond (Jeanine) Gubser, David (Marge) Gubser and Janice (Marion) Pierce. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.


George was a dedicated member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Omaha where he was faithful in attendance and service. Though he lived and worked in Nebraska, his heart was in Missouri and he loved to come and hunt deer, pheasant and quail with his brother-in-law, Marion, on the farm where George grew up. George had a gift to gab and he would entertain family and friends alike with his many stories of life growing up in Missouri and his work experiences. He especially ertjoyed going to the restaurant and visiting with the many friends he had in Fairfax.
George also enjoyed sports of all kinds. He like to play as well as watch baseball games. He was a fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers except during the times when they played Missouri. Then he cheered for Missouri and was thrilled when Missouri would beat them!
Services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Omaha on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, with Rev. Bryan Rice officiating. He was laid to rest in the Forest Lawn Cemetery beside his wife to whom he was married 49 and a half years. George enjoyed life and he touched many lives in his 79 years on this earth. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Hackett, Ralph

Funeral service were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, at the Fairfax United Methodist Church in Fairfax, Missouri, for Ralph Hackett, formerly of Fairfax and Tarkio, Missouri. Interment was made in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax. Rev. Mike Eighmy officiated.Services were under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Ralph Hackett, age 89, of Fairfax and Tarkio, Missouri, passed away on May 1, 2008, at Kavanagh House Hospice, West Des Moines, Iowa, following major surgery and two months of hospital care. He was born on August 14, 1918.

Ralph lived his entire life in Atchison County, Missouri, with the exception of his time in service with the US Navy during WWII. He grew up in Fairfax, married Margie, his first wife of 23 years who died suddenly in 1962 leaving a large vacancy in his life. He ran a successful grain elevator business, helped his father operate a furniture store and movie theatre in Fairfax, and served as mayor of Fairfax for several years. He served on the school board and was a very active board member in raising funds for the Fairfax Hospital

Ralph married Mary in 1970, moved to her home in Tarkio and retired from the grain business about 1972. They enjoyed many winters in Harlingen, Texas, until their health prevented travel. Mary died in 2007 following a lengthy illness, at which time Ralph returned to Fairfax for what was to be the last year of his life. Ralph was a long­time member of the Fairfax Methodist Church and also attended the Tarkio Presbyterian Church.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Amy; brother, Loren; and sister, Pauline. Also preceding him in death were his first wife, Margaret White of Fairfax, and second wife, Mary Milam Stevenson of Tarkio.
Ralph is survived by his sister, Mildred Gilmore of Terrace Park, Ohio; three children, Scott (Judy) Hackett, Wayzata, Minnesota, Carol Stewart (partner, Carol Van Horn), Waukee, Iowa, and Julie (Charles) Glover, Bossier City, Louisiana; and four stepchildren, George (Linda) Stevenson, Evanston, Illinois, Gelvin (Clara) Stevenson, New York City, New York, Mark (Carol) Stevenson, Columbia, Missouri, and Lisa (Jerry) Harbin, Laguna Vista, Texas. Also surviving are five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, and a nephew. His life with Mary included her ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, along with many other relatives and friends.
Memorials are preferred to the Fairfax Methodist Church, the Community Hospital in Fairfax or to Kavanagh House Hospice of Central Iowa.

Harbin, Rebecca Lois Grebe -

Graveside services and burial for Rebecca Lois Harbin of Tarkio were held on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at 1 p.m. at English Grove Cemetery near Fairfax, Missouri. Services were conducted by Tom Banks. Services were under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Lois, 85, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2008, at the Community Hospital-Fairfax in Fairfax after a short illness. She was born May 6, 1923, to Guy and Esta Grebe in Fairfax.
Lois married John M. Harbin, Jr., on June 6, 1940, and lived in Atchison County all her life. Her husband preceded her in death in 1995. Lois was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses Congregation in Tarkio.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include Ron of Queens Creek, Arizona, Dean of Amarillo, Texas, Gary of Belfair, Washington, and Jerry Harbin of Laguna Vista, Texas; nine grandchildren; six great­grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be directed to the Northview Manor Care Center in Tarkio.

Harmon, Opal Marie Tudor

Opal Marie Harmon, daughter of Charles and Phoebe Pearl Miner Tudor was born February 27,1922, in Phelps City, Missouri. She passed away at the Community Hospital in Fairfax, Missouri on July 19,1995, at the age of 73 years, 4 months, and 22 days.

In her youth she attended the Phelps City schools, graduating from Rock Port High School in 1940. On September 11, 1940 she was united in marriage to Royal William Harmon at the Baptist Parsonage in-Rock Port by Rev. Mitchell Mulvania. After Royal returned from the service they farmed in the Rock Port and Tarkio communities. In 1951 they moved back to Rock Port and have lived here to the present time. Royal died September 18,1988. Opal continued to reside in her home until January 1989 when ill health required her to move to Pleasant View Nursing Home.
In her spare time she enjoyed cooking/canning, gardening, and she also enjoyed family reunions giving her the opportunity to visit with many friends and relatives.
Opal was a member of the First Christian Church of Rock Port, and was proud of being a FHA Chapter Mother. Survivors include: three sons; Royal Keith and daughter-in-law Carol, of Tulsa, OK; Robert Lee and daughter-in-law Carolyn, of Farragut, IA; Ronnie Kurt and daughter-in-law Jolene, of Rock Port; one daughter Lola and son-in-law Dennis Davis also of Rock Port; nine grandchildren; Phil, Christy, Meredith, and Olivia Harmon, Brigitte and Brock Davis, Jason, Cassie and Jayme Lewis.
Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, Royal, an infant son; Phillip Harold, and an infant daughter; Beverly Ann.
Services were held Friday, July 21, at the Christian Church in Rock Port. Interment was at Linden Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Minter Funeral Chapel.

Harrington, Wayne Leo "Dub"

A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 1, 2010, at the Fairfax Baptist Church in Fairfax, MO, for Wayne Leo "Dub" Harrington, 89, of Faifax. Burial was in the English Grove Cemetery, Fairfax. Military rites at the cemetery were under the auspices of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199. The Schooler Funeral Home of Fairfax was in charge of arrangements.
Dub passed away Monday, September 27, 2010, at his home in Fairfax. He was born on August 13, 1921, near Fairfax, and was a lifelong resident of the area. His parents were Elmer and Sally C. Flanagan Harrington. They preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Dale "Mack" Harrington; a sister, Delpha Whitham; two nephews, John David Volger and Gavin McCall; and a niece, Kerry Roop Bennett.
Dub was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was with the 105th Field Artillery Battalion and saw action in Eastern Mandates, Bismarck, Archipelago, and Ryukus.
Dub had been employed at Eaton Corp., Sod-busters Hardware, and had worked many years for the City of Fairfax. He had been the City Marshall, the Fire Chief, and spent many years with the Water Department.

Dub was a member of the American Legion Post #0284, Fairfax. From 1948 to 1975, he was a fireman with the Volunteer Fire Department. The department named him an honorary member in later years.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Dorothy Harrington of the home; his children, Mike (Nancy) Harrington of Fairfax, Carol (Steve) Riley of Tarkio, Connie (Steve) Lewis of Fairfax, Linda (Ernie) Howell of Tarkio, Janet (Bill) Lingerfelt of Rock Port, MO, and Lisa England of Tarkio; brother, Clyde Harrington of Omaha, NE; two sisters, Rowena (Richard) Smith and Betty (Jake) McCall, both of Rock Port; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department.

Hill, Marjorie "Margie" Ruth Litherbury

Margie Ruth Hill, Moraga, California, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2008. Marjorie was born on February 3,1921, in Fairfax, Missouri, to Helen (Gonne) Litherbury and Ross Litherbury. Margie and David Hill arrived in Moraga from Wichita, Kansas, in 1960 after having married in Omaha, Nebraska, during World War II. They started their career and family in Columbus, Ohio. Margie was a homemaker, and a teacher's assistant at Donald L. Rheem and Camino Pablo elementary schools in Moraga for 20 years.
Her husband and family were Margie's first and enduring passion. A deep love of nature, especially of California birds and hills, of travel and her favorite destinations Yosemite and Paris, and of the Missouri homestead where she was raised also sustained her. Her family marveled at her photography and writing; talents through which she shared her keen observations of the world and the moods and lives of her loved ones. Quick with a smile, a wizard with finances, a fiend for good chocolate, and engaged with the world, Margie will be achingly missed and dearly remembered.
Preceding her in death was a son, Steve. She is survived by husband, David; sister, Rogene Thompson; and brother, Charles Litherbury. She also leaves behind her loving children Barbara and son-in-law John; Tim and daughter-in-law Galen; Roger and daughter-in-law Lili; and grandchildren Nile, Sky, Steven, and Chuck. Houts, Frieda McCoy -

Graveside services and burial were held on Saturday, September 6, 2008, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax, for Frieda Pauline Houts, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Frieda was born on December 29,1915, in Fairfax, Missouri. She was the daughter of Straud and Marie (Graves) McCoy. Frieda graduated from Fairfax High School in 1933, and in May, 1934, she married Eldon Houts at Dover, Missouri, and together, they had three wonderful children. She passed away on Saturday, August 30, at the age of 92.
Frieda was a housewife. She also enjoyed gardening, chickens and all animals, especially horses. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frieda was a gracious lady and a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by two , daughters, Carole Aitchison and husband, Don, of Casper, ( Wyoming, and Dorothy VanPelt and husband, Howard, Bolckow, Missouri; a son, Albert Houts of California; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Frieda was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Annabelle Nuckolls; a brother, Dale McCoy; and a granddaughter, Laurie Houts.

Kemerling, Justin Blaine -

Justin Blaine Kemerling was born September 30, 1985, in Madison, Tennessee, to Jeffery Blaine Kemerling and Bonnie Marie Giesken. He died Tuesday, November 13, 2012, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, at the age of 27 years. He was currently working as a cook with Buffalo Wild Wings in Bartlesville.
Loving family members include: mother, Bonnie Ream and her husband, David, of Owasso, Oklahoma; father, Jeff Kemerling and his wife, Brandy, of Fairfax, Missouri; sister, Sasha Johnson of Owasso; brother, Alex Kemerling, of Owasso; half sisters, Tristan Troyer of Lebanon, Tennessee, and Cierra Kemerling of Lebanon, Missouri; half brothers, Richard Douglas Ellis, IV, of Owasso, Ashton Troyer of Lebanon, and Elijah Blaine Kemerling of Fairfax; nieces, Skylar Marie Johnson and Isabella Rose Johnson, both of Owasso; grandparents, Dale and Dolly Kemerling, of Fairfax, Grady and Sue Hopper of Tupelo, Mississip­pi, Carroll and Marcia Applegate of Inola, Oklahoma; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso, with visitation at 3:00 p.m. Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at English Grove Cemetery in Fairfax. The family received a call from Corporate Headquarters of Buffalo Wild Wings where Justin worked. Funeral services were held for LaVaun E. Kemerling, Mound City, Missouri, formerly of Craig, Missouri, and Fairfax, on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Craig Church of God in Craig. Pastor Bob Gazaway officiated. Interment was made in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
LaVaun E. Kemerling, 88, Mound City, Missouri, formerly of Craig, Missouri, passed away on March 2, 2008, at the Tiffany Heights Nursing Home, Mound City, Missouri.
LaVaun was born June 22, 1919, in Milton, Missouri, the daughter of William and Minta Scarlett.
On August 15, 1936, she was united in marriage to Ralph Kemerling in Fairfax, Missouri. They lived and farmed in the Fairfax area for many years until moving to Craig in 1953. LaVaun also worked as a nurses' aide at Fairfax Community Hospital.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna Austin, and her husband, Bob, of Mound City; son, Van Kemerling and his wife, Sandy, also of Mound City; her sister, Nellie George of Little Rock, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Chris Sharp, Mound City, Shawn Sharp, Bellevue, Nebraska, Mike Sharp, Kansas City, Missouri, Donavan Kem­erling, Mound City, Marcus Kemerling, Dixon, Missouri, Shannon Kemerling, Law­rence, Kansas, and Stacy Kemerling, Lawrence; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

LaHue, Helen Bradfield -

Funeral services were held for Helen B. LaHue on Friday, March 7, 2008, at the Fairfax United Methodist Church in Fairfax. Rev. Mike Eighmy officiated. Interment was made in Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port, Mis­souri, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Helen (Bradfield) LaHue was born on a farm east of Fairfax, Missouri, April 30, 1910, to Frank and Hallie Todd Bradfield. She attended Long Branch Rural School and graduated from eighth grade there. Helen went to Fairfax High School for two years, then her family moved to Rock Port, Missouri, where she graduated from Rock Port High School in 1927.
On July 17, 1927, she was united in marriage to Floyd LaHue at the Lutheran parsonage in Rock Port. They spent their entire married life on a farm southwest of Langdon, Missouri, until 1943, when their house burned. They moved to Langdon, where they later purchased a home and resided there until the death of Floyd in 1956. Helen then moved to Maryville, Missouri, where she was employed as a housemother in a girls' dormitory at Northwest Missouri State College. Following this, she relocated to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and was a house­mother at the YWCA for young women coming to the city to work. Later, she was manager of the residents of First Presbyterian Senior Citizens Home of Oklahoma City. She retired in 1987 and moved to Fairfax, where she lived for her remaining years.

Helen is survived by her son, Dr. William LaHue and his wife, Julie, of Lexington, Missouri; two daughters, Beverly Boneta and her husband, Efrain, Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, and Mrs. Marilyn Graves, Fairfax; seven grandchildren; 13 great­grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Lewis, Eilene Grace Harris -

Eilene Grace (Harris) Lewis was born in Jasper, Arkansas on July 10, 1922. Her parents were Joe and Ida Mae (Smith) Harris. Eilene attended the Lone Cedar rural school in Atchison County, Missouri. On March 23,1946, she married Thurman Lewis in Troy, Kansas. They became the parents of one daughter, Marian. Eilene was a homemaker and they lived in Amarillo, Texas before moving to Yuma, Arizona in 1985. Eilene passed away at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska on Sunday, August 6,1995, at the age of 73.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one nephew, Jack S. Wilson. Survivors include her husband Thurman, Yuma, Arizona; their daughter Marian Carole Runnels, Issaquah, Washington; two granddaughters, Kerith and Sasha Runnels, and her sister Margaret Ann (Mrs. Jack) Wilson, Rock Port, Missouri.
Services were held Tuesday, August 8 at High Creek Cemetery in Watson. Arrangements were made by Chamberlain Funeral Home.

Linden, Kathleen P. Anderson Bogenreif -

Kathleen Patricia Linden, a former resident of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away suddenly on January 27, 2012, in Garfield, Arkansas. She was born November 1, 1934, in Sioux City, IA, to John and Margaret Anderson. She was the oldest of eight children.
Kathy graduated from Heelan High School where she was a cheerleader. She married her first husband, Gary G. Bogenreif, in 1955, in Sioux City, Iowa. They had five children. Kathy received her degree in Radiology at Sacred Heart in Yankton, South Dakota. Her careers included working as a secretary for the high school principal in Rock Port, Missouri. She also worked as the Director of Radiology in Fairfax, Missouri, where she retired in 1999 after over 20 years of service.
Kathy married Bill Linden on March 23, 1995. Kathy and Bill retired on Beaver Lake in Garfield, Arkansas, where they built their dream home together.
Kathy was a Queen of the Red Hat Society, a past president of Hobbits, and a past president of the American Businesswomen's Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Kathy leaves behind to cherish her memory a loving husband, Bill Linden, of the home; her children, Gary L. Forest LeRoy "Duff" Marrison passed away on Friday, August 6, 2010, in Lansing Michigan. He was born on March 8, 1943, to Floyd and Martha Kate (Dunn) Marrison. McLaughlin, Brenda Glee Ruby Henning -

Brenda Glee Ruby McLaughlin, 51, of Fairfax, Missouri, died at 8:15 a.m. April 28, 2012, at her sister, Jennifer's home, 528 Bryan Road in Ottumwa, Iowa, after a two-year battle with cancer.
She was born September 3, 1960, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Joanne Long Ruby. She married Duke McLaughlin on April 28, 2006, in Watson, Missouri.

She was a 1979 graduate of Blakesburg High School. She has lived in North Carolina, Oklahoma, and in Missouri for the past 20 years. She worked at Head Start, Bluffs Catering, Graybill Tire & Repair, Home Health Care, Hineline Furniture and for Aramark at Northwest Missoui State University.
Brenda loved music and knew the artists of all songs mentioned. She sang and played bass guitar in an all-girl band, had a quirky sense of humor, loved to dance and had published poetry.
Surviving are her husband, Duke McLaughlin, Fairfax; her mother, Joanne Long Ruby, Ottumwa; her children, Daniel Henning, Ottumwa, and Ben (Brooke) Henning, Rock Port, Missouri; grandchildren, Grant Presley Henning and Greyson Parker Henning, both of Rock Port; her siblings, Wes (Sharon) Ruby of Newton, Jennifer (Tom) OLeary of Ottumwa, Jeff (Kris) Ruby of Keokuk and Cheri (Shawn) Allen of Eddyville; nieces, Meghann (Donnie) Denham of Ottumwa, Makenzie Raridon of Newton; nephews, Alec Ruby of Newton, Ryan O'Leary of Ottumwa, Bentley Ruby of Keokuk, Tanner and Bryce Allen of Eddyville; aunts, Ruth Long and Carol Franklin, both of Ottumwa; uncles, Donnie (Teri) Long and Gene Long; great-nieces, Gracie Jo and Olivia Jane Denham and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Harold and Thelma Long; her favorite uncle, Alan Long; aunt, Alice Smith; and a cousin, Christine McCarty.
Her body has been cremated.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with Pastor Marty Schmidt officiating. Inturnment will be in Chisman Cemetery at a later date.

Miller, Thomas

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 5,2008, for Thomas Miller, Fairfax, at the Fairfax Baptist Church. Rev. Rob Lilly officiated. Interment was made in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.

Thomas Laverne Miller was born September 28, 1935, in rural Fairfax, Missouri, to Tom and Leora (Foster) Miller and passed away at home on May 2, 2008, at 72 years of age.
Tom attended rural country schools and graduated from Craig High School, Craig, Missouri, in 1953. He served two years in the Air National Guard and three years in the U.S. Army. Tom married Charlotte Hayes of Fairfax on May 27, 1955, at the Fairfax Baptist Church Parsonage. They made their home in Fairfax and had three children.
Tom was an automotive­mechanic. In 1963, he established Miller Auto Supply and Repair and ran the business until he retired in 2000. For over 15 years, Tom gladly gave of his time as Scout Master for the Fairfax Boy Scout Troop 73. He was also a Sachem in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and attended Camp Geiger. He was a Fairfax Volunteer Fireman for 20 years and a member of the Elks, Kiwanis, Optimist Club and Community Betterment.
Tom was an avid fisherman and gifted woodworker who especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his great-grandson.
Survivors include: his wife, Charlotte, of the home; children, Debbie (Mike) Petry, St. Joseph, Missouri, Terry (Larry) Hawkins, Fairfax, and Doug (Lea Anne) Miller, Fairfax; mother, Leora Miller, Mound City, Missouri; brother, Keith Miller, Fairfax; sister, Twilla Wallace, Mountain View, Arkansas; grandchildren, Aimee (David) Riley, Brandee Hawkins, Keaton Hawkins, and Tyson and Chelsea Miller; and great-grandson, Owen Riley. Osburn, Margaret Frances Ryan

Services were held on Friday, January 21, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church in Tarkio for Margaret Frances (Ryan) Osburn of Tarkio, formerly of Fairfax, MO. Father Reginald Sander, OSB, officiated. Burial was held at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax. Services were under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Margaret passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011, at Tarkio Rehabilitation and Health Care in Tarkio. She was born December 20, 1918, in rural Tarkio to Michael and Mary Ann (Gaffney) Ryan.
Margaret was raised on the family farm with 10 brothers and sisters. She went to Tarkio High School and was known for her ability to outrun most anyone (even the boys). She went to Tarkio College, where she became a teacher and went on to teach at a one-room schoolhouse. She married Dale Dean Osburn on September 6, 1940, in Maryville, MO. She was blessed with two sons, Stanley and Kenny. She devoted her life to her husband, children, nieces, and nephews, and working daily on the family farm in Fairfax. Later, Margaret devoted her time to all the activities her grandchildren were involved in, making wonderful memories, and then spending time with her great-grandchildren.

Margaret was an active member and leader in various community organizations: 4-H, Cub Scouts, 49ers (charter member), Sew and Sew Hobby Club, and American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid sports fan and never missed one of her children's and grandchildren's games. She enjoyed activities such as gardening, cooking, reading, needlework, and crossword puzzles. Margaret was a member of St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church in Tarkio.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary Ann Ryan; her husband, Dale Osburn; her son, Kenny Osburn; and her siblings, Honora Tobin, Mary Delehant, Catherine Oline, William Ryan, John Ryan, George Ryan, Martin Ryan, Genevieve Bennett, Maurice Ryan, and Jerry Ryan. She is survived by son Stanley Osburn and daughter-in-law, Dana Osburn, Fairfax; granddaughter, Kenna Eilers (Phil) Overland Park, KS; grandson, Ryan Osburn (Sarah), Fairfax; and granddaughter, Brooke Trachsel (Jason), Olathe, KS. She is also survived by seven great­grandchildren, Alyssa and Grant Eilers, Tony and Maggie Osburn, and Tanner, Ellie, and Tate Trachsel; one sister-in-law, Sarah Ryan; and many nieces and nephews.

Paris, Beatrice "Bea" Marie Graham -

Beatrice (Bea) Marie Paris was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on January 26, 2012, at the age of 79 years, 10 days. She was born on January 16,1933, to Alba L. and Lillian A. (Stoner) Graham. She attended Fairfax R-III High School, Fairfax, Missouri, and sang in the choir.
Bea met and married James O. Paris on July 2, 1953. Bea and Jim made their home in Fairfax, where Bea enjoyed being a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church. She had many hobbies, including keeping and watching birds, doing Search-A-Word puzzles, listening to her scanner, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
Bea was preceded in death by her parents, Alba and Lillian Graham; husband, James Paris; son, Ricky L. Paris; brothers, Paul, Harold, Cecil (Sonny), and Jimmie Dale; and sister, Joyce (Graham) Wallace.
Bea is survived by daughter, Betty and husband, Richard Hendrix, Fairfax; son, James W. and wife, Leisa Paris, Fairfax; son, Randy and wife, Michelle Paris, Rock Port, Missouri; daughter, Traci and husband, Chris Burke, Fairfax; 16 grandchildren; 23 great­grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Bea is also survived by a sister, Martha and husband, Larry Schmitz, Conception Junction, Missouri; and brother, Allen (Ike) and wife, Lavonne Graham, Kansas City, Missouri.

Graveside services and burial were held at Pleasant Ridge Cemtery, near Fairfax, Missouri, on Saturday, January 28, 2012, conducted by Rev Andy Braams. Parsons, Thelma

Former Fairfax resident, Thelma B. Parsons, 84, died Friday, August 15, 2008, at her home in Grove, Oklahoma, after a short illness. Thelma was born on February 29, 1924, to Robert and Getta (Blevins) Black in Wichita, Kansas. Her family moved to Fairfax, Missouri, shortly after her birth and she graduated from Fairfax High School in 1942.
Thelma married J.W. Parsons on November 1, 1942, in Warrensburg, Missouri. In 1948, they moved to Savannah, Missouri, where J.W worked for the Savannah Reporter newspaper until Thelma and her family purchased the former Holt County Sentinel newspaper from James Curry in 1957, and operated it until 1973. The family purchased the Plattsmouth Journal newspaper in 1973, and later bought the Weeping Water Republican newspaper, selling both properties in 1983, and they then moved to Grove, Oklahoma, where they owned and operated Van's Printing Service until 2001.
Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, J.W, who died September 12, 2003; and two sisters, Virginia McCoy and Betty Haldiman Munger. She is survived by a son, Bill Parsons of Grove, Oklahoma, grandson, Scott Parsons of Corona Del Mar, California, and two sisters, Georgia Donelson of Davenport, Iowa, and Roberta Jenkins Simpson of Warrensburg, Missouri.

Burial was in the Sunset Hills Cemetery, Warrensburg, Missouri, Tuesday, August 19. Services were under the direction of Funeral Services of Grand Lake Grove, Oklahoma.

Rosenbohm, Orba Geneva Cooper -

Orba Geneva Rosenbohm was born August 11, 1906, near Rock Port, Missouri, the daughter of Fred and Rose (Mensen) Cooper. She passed away August 7,1995 at the Community Hospital in Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 27 days.
In her early years she attended the West Bend Country School and continued to live and work at home with her family.

She was united in marriage on January 9, 1924 to Arthur M. Rosenbohm at the Lutheran Parsonage in Rock Port by Rev. A. F. Gillman. They farmed for several years before moving into Rock Port in 1945. For many years Orba worked at the Paramount Theater and for various other local businesses. Arthur passed away September 2, 1978. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed her flowers. Her home, yard and garden were always a picture of perfection and beauty and were enjoyed by all. She was a faithful and loving member of the First Lutheran Church of Rock Port and was dedicated to the church circles and Altar Guild and was also a member of the Templeton Homemakers Extension Club.
Survivors include one sister, Fay E. Cooper of Rock Port and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents and husband Arthur, Orba was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lois Evelyn who passed away Septmeber 19,1926.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 9^1995 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Rock Port, Missouri, conducted by Pastor Tim Carey. Interment was at the Hunter Cemetery Rock Port.

Schooler, Floyd H.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Fairfax United Methodist Church for Floyd H. Schooler of Fairfax, MO. Rev. Mike Eighmy officiated. Burial was made in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Floyd, 86, a lifelong resident of Fairfax, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Community Hospital-Fairfax. Floyd was born March 2, 1924, on the family farm outside of Fairfax to Bion B. and Mattie (Kelly) Schooler. He graduated from Fairfax High School in 1941, and attended Tarkio College. At both places he excelled at basketball and orneriness.
Floyd was married to Charlotte Jean Judy on January 18, 1947. He farmed in partnership with his brother, Wayne, for more than 50 years. More recently, he did bulldozer work in agricultural terracing and dam construction.
Floyd was a member of the Fairfax United Methodist Church. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's school events and being with his family. His wit and entertaining stories will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.B. Schooler; brothers, Dale Schooler and Wayne Schooler; and sisters, Ramona Schooler and Loraine (Eldon) Pierson. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of the home; two children, Jerry (Linda) Schooler, Manchester, Missouri, and Judy (Bill) Curry, Savannah, Missouri; four grandchildren, Claire Schooler, Manchester, Dr Brett Curry, Statesboro, Georgia, Craig Curry, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Daniel Curry, Savannah; and a host of friends and relatives.

Shaffer, William D., Jr -

William D. Shaffer, Jr., 52, of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, passed away on Friday, February 29,2008, at his home. He was the loving husband of Martha J. Southard Shaffer, with whom he shared 25 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of William D., Sr. and Ida Grubb Shaffer of Lansdale. William graduated from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in 1973 and received his BS degree from Syracuse University in 1977. He received his Masters from Boston University in 1979.
William was employed as a manager for SEI Investments in Oaks for over 24 years. In his spare time Mr. Shaffer enjoyed playing bass guitar. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Shaffer is survived by his sons, Robert L. and Andrew P., both of the home; by his sister, Carolyn Melvin and her husband, John of Thornville, Ohio; and brother, Lloyd Shaffer, and his wife, Kim, and their children, Miranda and Brianna of Cicero, New York. Also survivng are his mother-in-law, Esther Southard and in-laws Roger and Suzanne Southard, all of Fairfax, and Barbara and Gerald Hess of Osborn, Missouri; and by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Doyle Southard, brother-in-law, Phillip Southard, and niece, Lauren Southard.

Simmons, Lisa Kay Lawless -

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 1995, at the First Christian Church in Rock Port, Missouri, for Lisa Kay (Lawless) Simmons of Tarkio. Reverend Allan Bash officiated. Interment was made in Grange Hall Cemetery in Rock Port under the direction of Minter Funeral Chapel of Rock Port.
Lisa Kay (Lawless) Simmons, age 27, passed away Friday, December 23, 1994, from injuries sustained from an automobile accident. She was born January 3,1967, in Fairfax, Missouri, to Pamela Kay VanLeuven and James Glade Lawless. During her early years she attended the Rock Port schools, graduating from Rock Port High School in 1985. She attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville for one semester. She was then employed at Pleasant View Rest Home in Rock Port as a nurses' aide.
In November of 1986, Lisa was united in marriage to Barry Simmons at the Christian Church in Fairfax. They made their home in Fairfax where she worked at Community Hospital in Fairfax and attended Tarkio College in Tarkio. They were later divorced in January of 1991.
Lisa spent the next three years in Springfield, Missouri, and, in 1994, moved to Tarkio where she resided to the time of her death. Lisa's greatest joy was being with her son, Jesse, and other family members. Some of her many interests were the nursing profession and music. She had an avid love for the outdoors and enjoyed boating and riding horses.
Lisa was a member of the First Christian Church of Rock Port. She was preceded in death by her father, James Lawless; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Beulah Lawless; and maternal great-grandmother, Gussie VanLeuven.
Survivors include: Lisa's son, Jesse Simmons, of Fairfax; mother, Pam Rightsell of Tarkio; father, Don Meyer, Rock Port; two brothers, Adam Meyer and Rick Meyer, both of Rock Port; maternal grandparents, Robert VanLeuven of Tarkio and Donna Metzger of Wapakoneta, Ohio; maternal great-grandfather, Donald VanLeuven of Tarkio; aunts, Marjorie Sarringar, Centerville, Ohio, and Shirley Stoner of Rock Port; and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. Sims, Earle E. - Earle E. Sims, 86, former editor and publisher of The Fairfax Forum, Fairfax, MO, died Aug. 12, 1995 at Clarkson Hospital, Omaha, NE following open heart surgery on July 28. He was apparently making satisfactory recovery and was preparing to go home when he suffered a stroke from which he did not regain consciousness.
Mr. Sims was born May 15, 1909 at Prairie Hill, MO, the first child of L. Roy and Imogene (Gunn) Sims, longtime Missouri weekly newspaper publishers. He graduated from Burlington Jct, MO High School, attended Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, and the University of Oklahoma, Norman, pursuing a degree in journalism. He was associated with his parents and brother, Roy Sims, Jr. in the publication of The Fairfax Forum over 40 years, retiring in 1976.
During Mr. Sims later years he developed his skills as a photographer, founded Sims Foto and photographed hundreds of weddings throughout northwest Missouri, area and county events and numerous children. His peers considered him an artist with movable type and camera lenses.
He married Mary Louise Wyman, July 14, 1934. She survives him after 61 years of marriage, along with two daughters, Sybil Higginbotham, Maryville, MO, and Suzanne Dollar, Springfield, MO; six grandchildren, Malinda Owens, Tampa, FL; Julie Horton, Kansas City, MO;
Mary Lynn Higginbotham, Melissa Dollar, both of Columbia, MO; Captain Keith Higginbotham, Sacramento, CA; and Christopher Dollar, Springfield, MO; five great grandchildren; one sister, Helen M. Sims, Overland Park, KS; one brother, Roy Sims, Mound City, MO; two sons-in-law, Dr. Harlan   K Higginbotham, Maryville, and David Dollar, Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Earle Sims was past president and official printer of the Northwest Missouri Press Association, which awarded him the Merrill Chilcote Award in 1986. He was a longtime member and past treasurer of the Missouri State Press Association. Mr. Sims was a member and elder of the Christian Church of Fairfax. He was a past member of the Fairfax School District Board, the Fairfax Housing Board; past president and 18 year board member of Community Hospital Association, Fairfax, where many of his outstanding photographic murals are permanently on display. For a number of years he served as a judge of the Missouri Community Betterment program and as a local Fairfax Community Betterment leader he received the Governors Leadership Award in 1968.
Mr. Sims was a charter member of the Fairfax Kiwanis Club, serving that organization in several capacities. He was a life member of the Elks Club.
Funeral services were held Monday morning, Aug. 14, at the Christian Church in Fairfax, with
Rev. Allan Bash in charge.  Interment was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax.
Mrs. Corinne Mitchell was organist and she accompanied Mrs. Adah Pyeatt, vocalist
Pallbearers were Keith Higginbotham, Christopher Dollar, Eric Horton, David Gourley, Bob Alldredge and Doug Crews. Honorary pallbearers were Junior Hawkins, Earl David, Ray Mitchell, Mike Hawkins, Doyne Swan, John Wells.

Slemp, Loren -

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 3, 2010, at the Christian Church in Union, Missouri, for Loren L. Slemp. Loren, age 80, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 29, 2010, from a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Loren was born in Rock Port, Missouri, on June 29, 1929, to Roy and Ruth (Farley) Slemp. They lived in the Fairfax area for many years and moved to Tarkio, Missouri, in the late 1940's.
Loren graduated from Tarkio High School and then joined the Army for two years. He attended Tarkio College making music his main course of study. On June 8, 1955, he married Virginia Freemyer in Clarinda, Iowa. They became the parents of four children, Renee (Keith) Coulter, Michael, who is deceased, Mark (Jennifer) Slemp and Robyn (John) Boland. There are six grandchildren.
Loren taught music in several schools in southwest Iowa. In Humeston, Iowa, he also became a guidance counselor. The Slemps moved to Union, in the early 1970's, and he taught in the high school there and was later the guidance counselor in their college in Union.

Straub, Joseph Edward

A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at the Word of Life Church in St. Joseph, MO, for Joseph Edward Straub, age 72, of Maryville, MO. The cremation and service were under the direction of Bram Funeral Home of Maryville.
Joe passed away at home, Saturday, August 30, 2008. He was born on March 14, 1936, in Fairfax, MO, and lived all of his life in the Fairfax and Maryville areas.
A U.S. Navy Veteran, Joe was a retired carpenter and cabinet maker. He loved the outdoors. He loved to fish and hunt, and was an accomplished runner and artist. Joe was a member of the Word of Life Church in St. Joseph.
Survivors include: daughter, Lynnett and Denny Florea, and grandson, Lane Florea, all of Maryville; son, Jay and fiancee, Trish Straub, and grandson, Joseph Straub, all of Platte City, MO; brothers, Matt Straub, Fairfax, and Dick Straub, Ulster Park, NY; and his beloved, Betty Sharp, Maryville.

Summa, John Douglas - John Douglas "Doug" Summa, the son of John Lester and Virginia Lee (Wilmes) Summa, was born October 13, 1952, in Maryville, Missouri. He attended Maryville High School, graduating in 1970. He then attended Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, and the University of Wyoming, School of Pharmacy, graduating in 1977.

On October 23, 1971, Doug was united in marriage to Carla Jean Ingels in Maryville, Missouri, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. They celebrated 41 years of marriage this year. Doug owned and operated Summa Pharmacy in Tarkio, Missouri, for 27 years. In 2007, he sold his business to Pamida, in Tarkio. Doug then managed the Pamida pharmacy, which is now the Shopko Hometown Store.

Doug was community minded and cared deeply for Tarkio. He was a member of the Tarkio Lions Club, Slo Rollers Car Club, Heartland Educational Institute, St. Paul's Parish Council, Wing Nuts Experimental Aircraft Association, all of Tarkio, as well as numerous other organizations in the past. Doug passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012 at his home in Tarkio at the age of 60 years.

Besides his father, Doug was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts and uncles. Thomson, Eugene

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at the Presbyterian Church in Fairfax, for Eugene Thomson, Fairfax. Rev. Mike Eighmy officiated. Interment was made in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
David Eugene Thomson, age 99, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2008, at a Mound City, Missouri, care facility. Eugene was one of seven children born to James and Bertha (McMurphy) Thomson. He was born on January 15, 1909, in the rural Daleview community, east of Fairfax, Missouri.
Gene attended country schools and graduated from Daleview High School in 1927. After attending one year of college at Northwest Missouri State Teachers College in Maryville, Missouri, he returned to the Fairfax community to engage in farming, a vocation that he continued doing for the rest of his life.
On April 28, 1932, Gene and Margaret Sillers were married. They became the parents of two daughters, Beverly and Marjorie. Margaret preceded her husband in death on October 4,1985. On July 9, 1987, Gene married Mildred Stouffer. Gene and Mildred made their home at 610 Cedar Street in Fairfax. Gene was a member of the Fairfax Presbyterian Church, Fairfax Kiwanis Club and was a board member of the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery Association. He was also a member of Fairfax Lodge #483 A.F. and A.M., Scottish Rite and Moila Shrine.

Gene is survived by his wife, Mildred, of the home; daughter, Mrs. Marjorie (Bill) Umbarger, Fairfax; step­daughters, Mrs. Dolore (Ed) Meyer, Miami, Oklahoma, and Jeanette Shipps, Maryville, Missouri; a son-in-law, Sam Gnuse, Altamont, Illinois; brother, Waldo Thomson, Fairfax; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Beverly Gnuse; first wife, Margaret; two brothers, Gordon and Ernest Thomson; and three sisters, Ruth Hills, Ada War­ren and Josephine Matthews. Thornton, Dawn Faith Haeberle -

Dawn Faith Thornton was born on December 8, 1959. She passed away on June 11, 2008, at the age of 48.
Dawn moved to St. Joseph, MO, with her family at the age of 13. In 1989, she and her two children moved to Atchison County, living in the Fairfax, MO, area. Both of her children graduated from Fairfax High School.
In 2001, Dawn started working at nuclear power plants during the plants' shut-down for refueling, maintenance, inspection and refitting. She was a Senior Radiation Protection Manager, ensuring the health of the workers, and was responsible for maintaining in-house and NRC regulations. Her last posting was in Seneca, SC.
Dawn was preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents; and by her mother, Marlene Haeberle, of Tarkio. She is survived by her husband, Randell Thornton and father, John A. Haeberle, Sr., both of the home in Tarkio; a daughter, Melissa Cogdill and husband, Andy, of Fairfax; a son, Mark D. Stewart, of Fairfax; a granddaughter, dear to her, Mercy F. Cogdill, of Fairfax; a brother, John A. Haeberle, Jr., and wife, Debbie, of Oregon, MO; and a sister, Candy Franke, of Tarkio. She also had many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews that held a place in her heart.

Wake, Evelyn L. -

Graveside service and inurnment were held on Thursday, December 30, 2010, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax, Missouri, for Evelyn L. Wake, Essex, Iowa. Rev. Glenn Scott officiated. Services were under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Evelyn L. Wake was born on August 2, 1923, and passed away on December 24, 2010. She was the third of four daughters born of John and Emma Dougherty and grew up in Craig, Missouri. Evelyn graduated from Craig High School and she also attended two years at Tarkio College.
Evelyn taught school at Fairfax and Rock Port, Missouri. On May 22, 1949, she was united in marriage to Eugene Wake of Fairfax. Evelyn enjoyed gardening and reading novels.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Felumb and Helen Sterling. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Eugene Wake, Essex, Iowa; sons, Larry, Steamwood, Illinois; Galen, Essex, Iowa; and Richard, Shenandoah, Iowa; and a sister, Wilma Thurnau, Craig. Walkup, Alice Virginia -

Alice Virginia Walkup was born to Ralph and Florence Walkup in Fairfax, Missouri, on July 15,1918, and passed away March 13, 2008, in Tacoma, Washington. She was an excellent student in grade school at Fairfax, high school in White Deer, Texas, and business college in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

After that she became a world traveler as she was employed by the American State Department. She worked in foreign service for 30 years, and was stationed in many parts of the world including Mexico, The Hague, Bangkok, Manila, Venezuela, Yugoslavia, Cuba, Iran and Washington, D.C. She loved and enjoyed her exciting job and her family, and was a strong minded and kind person.
Virginia was preceeded in death by her sister, Mary Margaret Bluback; and sister-in-law, Sonya Walkup. She is survived by her brother Richard W. Walkup (Margaret); niece, Cindy Edmond (Bill); nephew, Bruce Walkup (Carolyn); nieces, Amy Burrows Alexeev (Alex), Kate Burrows, Marley Walkup; and great-nephew, Alexander (A.J.) Alexeev; niece and nephew, Letitia Badwan and Victor Bluback; great nephew and niece, Basil and Monica Badwan; and close cousins, Marcia Symanski and Edward (Teddy) Tyson; and step nieces, Karen Morrell and Nancy Meyer (Andy). Her remains will be in Walkup Grove Cemetery, Fairfax.

Whittington, Geraldine "Jerry" -

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Fairfax, for Geraldine L. "Jerry" Whittington, Fairfax. Rev. Mike Eighmy officiated. Inurnment was made in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax, under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Jerry was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on August 29, 1929. She was the daughter of Arthur and Ethel (Allen) Moser. Jerry attended school in Council Bluffs until 1945, when the family moved to Fairfax. Jerry graduated from Fairfax High School in 1947.
On January 11, 1947, she became the wife of Richard Whittington. Except for a brief time living in Olivia, Minnesota, and Sikeston, Missouri, the Whittingtons lived in Fairfax their entire lives.
Jerry was a cook at Fairfax R-3 Schools until her retirement. She was also a member of the Fairfax United Methodist Church, John Richards Post #284 American Legion Auxiliary, Pinochle Club, bowling league and the Community Hospital-Fairfax Auxiliary
Jerry passed away at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, on Friday, September 17, 2010, at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; sister, Shirley Sinko; brother, Wayne Moser; and nephew, Joel Moser.
Jerry is survived by her five sons and their spouses, Steve and wife, Brenda, Maryville, Missouri; John and wife, Diana, and Paul and wife, Jo Lynn, all of Tarkio, Missouri; and George and wife, JoAn, and Jim and wife, Robin, all of Fairfax. Jerry is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, 17 great­grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Wilcoxson, Roger Eugene -

Roger Eugene Wilcoxson, age 79, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born April 14, 1933, in Harrison County, Missouri, the son of Everett Glen and Miriam Madonna (Haskins) Wilcoxson. On September 27, 1953, Roger was united in marriage to Wilma Louise Jones, who survives at the home.
Roger attended elementary school at Green Valley and Eagleville and graduated from Eagleville High School in 1951. He attended Boise Junior College, Boise, Idaho, and Northwest Missouri State Teachers College, Maryville, Missouri, before serving in the United States Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean Conflict. He received both a Bachelors and Masters Degree from the University of Missouri and was employed by the University of Missouri Extension as a Youth Specialist for 33 years.
Roger was a member of the Jackson Jaycees, Jackson Rotary Club, Christian Motorcyclists Association, New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson and the Wesley United Methodist Church in Jefferson City. He enjoyed motorcycling, camping, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Wilma, are his children, Terri Myer (Mark), Penton, Missouri, and Kathleen Wilcoxson, Jefferson City; grandchildren, Jaime (Sam) Marshall, Justin Myer, Tyson Myer, Jonathan Myer, and Kelsey Jo Vogler; and great-grandchildren, Grace Marshall, Aslyn Marshall, and Preston Myer; brother, Darrel (Carol) Wilcoxson; sister, Celesta (Paul) Taylor; sisters-in-law, Waneta Wilcoxson and Dixie Wilcoxson. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Lavern, Dwane and Bob Wilcoxson.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 27, 2012, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home in Jefferson City, with Rev. Tom Vansant officiating. Interment, with full military honors, was at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Worl, Diana Lynn Smith -

Diana Lynn Worl was born January 10, 1957, in Davenport, Iowa, to Artie and Eleanor Smith. She grew up in the Fairfax area, attending school there and was a homemaker. Diana loved her son David and both of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed planting flowers and doing holiday crafts.
Diana entered into rest after a two year battle with cancer on November 6, 2012, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Diana is survived by her son, David Schebaum of Fairfax, Missouri; grandchildren, Titan and Mercy; sister, Sandra Kent of Quitman, Missouri; and nephew, Robert Kent, also of Quitman, Missouri.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at the Quitman Cemetery in Quitman, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to the Diana Worl Memorial Fund, 705 Walnut, Quitman, MO 64487.

Yates, Thaddeus J. (T.J.), 79, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012, at his home in Asher, Oklahoma after a short battle with lung cancer. He was born May 24,1933, to Rufus and Thelma (Whiteley) Yates at Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Most of his career was spent in industrial construction and maintenance. He enjoyed car races, working with horses, reading, playing cards, and visiting with friends.
He is survived by one son, Joe, and one granddaughter, Ivy, of the home; his ex-wife Linda David, also of Asher; his sister, Margaret Black, Shawnee, Oklahoma; and a sister, Oma Waters, of Stratford, Oklahoma; one grandson, Garrett Dozier, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Sonja Schenk, of Pasadena, California; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant sister, Nancy; one infant brother, John; one adult sister, Ruth; and two adult brothers, William and Frank.

Warren R. "Roger" Younger, 59, passed away December 29, 2010 at his home in Kansas City, MO. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Roger was born August 3, 1951 in Fairfax, to Warren and Viola Younger. He graduated from Craig High School, Missouri Western State College, University of Austin and received his masters degree in education from the University of Missouri Kansas City.
Roger is survived by his wife, LaDonna of the home; three brothers, Lawrence W. Younger, Donald E. Younger, and Terry O.
