Alexander, Dorothy Rae Kruse - Dorothy Rae (Kruse) Alexander, daughter of Fredrick Dale and Elda Fern (Moore) Kruse was born on October 24, 1941 in Squires, Missouri. Dorothy entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Golden Rod Care Center in Clarinda, Iowa at the age of 71 years.
Her early life was spent in Ava, Missouri, but the family later moved to Tarkio. One of the most memorable times was when she talked about riding a horse with her daddy to the Tarkio Rodeo. While Dorothy was growing up she was proud to be the leader of the Black Widows, a female gang in Tarkio.
On November 27, 1958, Dorothy was united in marriage to the love of her life, Freddie Leland Alexander at the Congregational Church in Farragut. Following their marriage they resided in Tarkio and Sabetha before moving to Essex. Dorothy had always been a stay at home mom. Cooking, cleaning and taking care of the kids were her top priority. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, quilting, making doilies and loved collecting baskets. She also had an undying love for genealogy and could talk about her family to anyone and everyone!
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years this November, Freddie; her parents; and a granddaughter Jodi Lynn Meier.
Those left to honor her memory include her siblings Kenneth Kruse and Dalene Kruse both of Mound City; children Jim Alexander and wife Rhonda and Shari Meier and husband Steve both of Essex, Barb Greever and husband Phil of College Springs, Ronda Summers and husband Mike of Clarinda and Kathy Alexander of Lawton, OK; 5 grandchildren Jason Meier and wife Tiffany, Jamie Greever and fiancé Corey Vaughn, Cassie Sunderman and husband Levi of Clarinda, Karli Brown and Tanner Summers and girlfriend Chandal; 2 step-grandchildren Kayla Duncan and husband Peter and Bobbi Jo Kraeger and boyfriend Trey Smith; great-grandchildren Brittney Meier, Courtney Meier, Carson Sunderman and Kaedyn Summers; step-great-grandchildren Erica Musgrove, Devon Yoshida, Ethan Yoshida and Brayden Kraeger; other relatives and a host of friends

Amthor, Mary M. Janes - Mary M. Amthor, the daughter of Elza Ross and Myrtle Viola (Batey) Janes was born September 29, 1924, in Watson, Missouri. She graduated from Watson High School and attended Superior Beauty Academy, graduating with her beautician’s license.
On November 11, 1943, Mary was united in marriage to James R. Amthor. To this union, a daughter, Vicki, was born. In 1956, Mary and James opened Amthor Beauty and Barber Shop, in Rock Port, Missouri. They were happily married for 57 years. James passed away October 31, 2000. Mary passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at a health care facility in Gower, Missouri, at the age of 88 surrounded by her family.
Mary was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rock Port, a charter member of the Rock Port Golf and Country Club and a 50 year member of the Rock Port Chapter # 440, Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the two gallon club at the local blood bank and was a member of the Sweet Adelines. Mary was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing softball, golf, bowling, water skiing and boating. She loved watching her daughter, Vicki, at Rock Port Blue Jay sporting events. She carried that pride with her as she cheered for her grandsons’ team, the Mid-Buchanan Dragons and continued being an avid Mizzou fan. Mary always kept active by sewing, making crafts, creating stained glass, making flower arrangements and designing jewelry trees. She loved jewelry and bling, always making everything and everyone sparkle.
Mary was the happiest when she was entertaining with good food, humor, valued wisdom and often a water fight. She defined the words “family” and “mother” by her living example of faith and caring. She dearly loved her family and friends and will be missed by many.
Besides her parents and husband, James, Mary was preceded in death by brother, Elza Ross Janes and wife, Opal; brothers-in-law, Richard Amthor and wife, Alice, and Charles Amthor; and sister-in-law, Marjorie Amthor. Survivors include daughter Vicki Rennae Kline and husband, John W., Agency, Missouri; grandson, Steven Amthor Kline and wife, Jodie; extended family, Cheryl and Ian Rosenauer; great-grandchildren, Reid, Trinity and Brody; brother, David Stastny; brothers-in-law, Bill Amthor and wife, Bev, and Joe Amthor and wife, Jane; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
Interment: High Creek Cemetery, Watson, Missouri.

Barnard, Beverly McPherson - Beverly McPherson Barnard was born April 7, 1923. She passed away January 14, 2013. She was a lifetime resident of the Tarkio Community.
Beverly was preceded in death by parents, Boone and Merna McPherson and husband, Dr. C.L. Barnard.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy and husband, Carl, of Minden, Iowa, and son, Danny and wife Carolyn, of Leawood, Kansas. She has three grandchildren, Blaine Barnard, Shelby Barnard and Cary Cochran (wife Lexi). She also has two great grandchildren, Lucy and Carson.

Barnhart, Joy LeJean - Joy LeJean Barnhart, the daughter of Willis Lee “Kearney” and Marjorie Jean (Martin) Barnhart, was born November 20, 1944, in Hamburg, Iowa. She graduated from Watson High School, Watson, Missouri, in 1962.
Joy made her home in Watson, in their family home, until she moved to Rock Port, Missouri, in 2010. She helped around the house with cooking and cleaning and enjoyed playing with her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed playing bingo and caring for her dog, Alena, “Short Legs” as Joy most often called her beloved pet. Joy passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013, at her home in Rock Port, at the age of 68.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include brother, Byron Barnhart and wife, Darlene, Rock Port; nieces and nephews, Steven Barnhart, Laguna Niguel, California, Jodi Hendrickson, Hamburg, Robert Barnhart, Rock Port, Michael Barnhart, Watson, Allen Paget, Branson, Missouri, John and James Barnhart, Rock Port, Tanah and Teagan Barnhart, Tuesday, Martin, and Augustus Leseberg, McKenna Barnhart, Ryllee Barnhart, Lea and Jozie Hendrickson and Jenna Hall; uncle, Harold “Bud” Martin, Watson; aunt, Doris Bemberger, Lomita, California; and numerous cousins.

Barnhart, Marjorie Jean Martin - Marjorie Jean Barnhart was born August 6, 1922. She was the first child of three born to Gladys Estella (Payne) and Henry Lee “Hank” Martin on the family farm two miles west of Watson, Missouri near the old river town of Sonora, where her brother, Bud, currently resides.
She attended Sunny Grove Country School located across the road from her house. She then attended Watson High School, graduating in 1939 as Valedictorian of her class.
On September 21, 1940 Marjorie was united in marriage to Willis Lee “Kearney” Barnhart. They moved to Omaha, Nebraska and worked for the Martin Bomber Plant during World War II. They returned to Watson where they purchased their family farm northeast of Watson. They raised two children, Joy LeJean and Byron Jack. The later moved to Watson where Marjorie made her beloved home. Following “Kearn’s” death in 2001, she became a resident of Pleasant View Care Center, Rock Port, Missouri in 2004. Marjorie passed away January 25, 2013 at Fairfax Community Hospital at the age of 90 years.
Marjorie, “Marj” as she was referred to by her host of family and friends, was a member of the Sonora Chapter 206 of Eastern Star.
Her passions in life included spending time with her children and grandchildren, cooking meals for family, painting, gardening, traveling and researching genealogy.
Besides her parents and husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by brother, Jack Martin, and sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Martin and Vyvyan Martin. Survivors include one son, Byron Barnhart and daughter-in-law Darlene, and one daughter Joy Barnhart all of Rock Port; seven grandchildren; Steven Barnhart, Laguna Niguel, California, Jodi Hendrickson, Hamburg, Iowa, Robert Barnhart, Rock Port, Michael Barnhart, Watson, Allen Paget, Branson, Missouri, John and James Barnhart, Rock Port; nine great grandchildren, Tanah and Teagan Barnhart, Tuesday, Martin, and Augustus Leseberg, McKenna Barnhart, Ryllee Barnhart, and Lea and Jozie Hendrickson; one great-great grandchild, Jenna Hall; one brother Harold “Bud” Martin, Watson; one sister-in-law Doris Bemberger, Lamita, California; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Beggs, John Randall "Randy" - John Randall “ Randy” Beggs, the son of John Herbert and Mary Ann (Henning) Beggs was born February 14, 1955 in Fairfax, Missouri. Randy graduated from Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Missouri.
Randy had a zest for life. He was always happy, laughing and loved to be around people, no matter their age. He was comfortable playing on the floor with a two year old or simply sitting and visiting with an eighty year old.
Randy had many hobbies, including; pheasant and quail hunting, and mushroom hunting in the spring. The meal afterwards was as enjoyable as the hunt. Randy loved water skiing when time permitted, and cooking and grilling were all a big part of his life.
Randy was always ready to help anyone that asked, many times putting a hold on his life for them. Randy will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Randy passed on to his final resting place, Saturday, August 17, 2013 at his home in Fairfax at the age of 58.
Randy was preceded in death by his grandparents and brother-in-law, Jim Scheve. Survivors include longtime friend Fayrene Stretz, of the home, Fairfax; sons, John Jeremy Beggs and his wife Andrea, Kapolei, Hawaii, Brandon Christian Beggs, Columbus, Nebraska; grandchildren, Chelsea, Dylan and Farrington Beggs; parents, Herbert and Mary Ann Beggs, Mound City, Missouri; sister, Linda Scheve, Springfield, Missouri; nephews, Jacob and Jesse Scheve, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Private Memorial Service and Inurnment will be held at a later date

Bell, Suzanne Shanahan -Suzanne Shanahan Bell, age 76, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in Riverside, CA. Death was due to complications of pneumonia. Due to additional medical complications, Mrs. Bell had been confined to the hospital and skilled nursing facilities for the last eight months.
Mrs. Bell was born in Rochester, NY, September 24, 1936, graduated from St. Agnes Academy and worked for Eastman Kodak. It was on a visit to New York City where she met her husband-to-be, William H. Bell (Colonel, USAF, Ret), then a Captain, during the taping of “The Ed Sullivan Show” on Easter Sunday in 1956.
Married six months later in October of 1956, Mrs. Bell traveled with her husband to Germany, where he was assigned for duty, and where their three children were born. After Germany, the family lived in Niagara Falls, NY, Rochester, and Montgomery, AL (Maxwell AFB), traveled back to Wies-baden, Germany, back to Montgomery, and finally settled in Riverside in 1975 when her husband retired from the Air Force.
During the family’s last tour of duty in Germany, Mrs. Bell accompanied her husband throughout Europe while he coordinated with intelligence personnel of various friendly countries. She served as a Goodwill Ambassador to the wives of foreign dignitaries, military counterparts, and other allied officers. Her skill, tact, and diplomacy as a hostess were unsurpassed and contributed greatly to the friendly cooperation between countries.
For many years in Riverside, Mrs. Bell was an active and very involved volunteer for numerous charitable organizations and community groups. She was an industrious, self-motivated, and intelligent woman who formed and was president of two of her own companies in Riverside: an advertising company and a catering company.
When one mentions the name Suzanne Bell, music and singing come to mind. She loved to sing and shared her gift with everyone. As a young lady, she had her own music show on radio in Rochester. Many lives have been touched by this amazing lady and her lovely voice in and around Riverside.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Colonel William H. Bell; her daughters, Suzanne Bell de Garcia of Long Beach, CA, and Kathleen Shanahan Bell-Conine of Zebulon, NC; her grandson, Alexander Javier Garcia-Bell of Long Beach; and two brothers, Frank Shanahan of Fort Pearce, FL, and Daniel Shanahan of Carlsbad, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Gloria Lahon; her brother, Joseph Shanahan; and her son, William M. S. Bell.

Boarts, Lois June Reynolds - Lois June Boarts 89, of Maryville, MO, passed away Thursday March 28, 2013 at the Nodaway Nursing Home, in Maryville, Missouri. She was born June 6, 1923 in Savannah, Missouri to Mary Edith (Sollars) and Edward Dewitt Reynolds. She was a homemaker, and a Christian. She enjoyed embroidery, playing bingo in her later years, and she also enjoyed her bible studies and her adult basic education classes. Lois is preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband Milo Howard Payne, 2nd husband Lyle Edward Boarts, two sons, Terry Lee Payne and Mark Edward Payne, two brothers, Harold Lee Reynolds and Edward Allen Reynolds, and one sister, Mary Esther Leasure. Survivors include a son Robert Michael Payne and wife Carol Ann of Maryville, MO., two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Lahiff and Cora Marie Barber both of Atlantic Beach, Fl. A brother Phillip Duane Reynolds and wife Virginia, of Pickering, MO, nine grandchildren, Erin (Monty) Johanning of Sioux Falls, SD, Michael James (Beth) Payne of Inwood, IA, Tara Marie (Phil) Mueller, of Sioux Falls, SD, Caitlin Maureen Payne of Ames, IA, Travis Lee (Samantha) Payne of Kansas City, MO, William Matthew Payne of Maryville, MO, Shannon Jo (Joshua) Chambers of Jacksonville, FL, Angela Marie Catone of Derby, CT, and Christopher David Macki of Marquette, MI, eleven great grandchildren, Taylor, Jade, Cadence, and Sophie Payne, Aiden, Logan and Elena Johanning, Milo Mueller and a new great grand daughter on the way, Jocelyn and Grayson Chambers, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 AM Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Sunday at the funeral home. The interment will be at the White Oak Cemetery, Pickering, MO.

Bressler, Evelyn Marie Cooper - Evelyn Marie (Cooper) Bressler, the daughter of Willie J. and Ethel Cooper, was born on December 31, 1926, on the family farm south of Rock Port, Missouri. She passed away at her home, the same farm where she was born, on July 11, 2013, at the age of 86, which she always wished would happern. Evelyn attended elementary school at Cooper School and graduated from Rock Port High School in 1944.
On January 22, 1945, Evelyn was united in marriage to Kenneth D. “Bud” Bressler in Hiawatha, Kansas, at the Lutheran Church. Bud and Evelyn made their home in the town of Rock Port until 1948, at which time they moved to her parent’s farm. They lived there the remainder of their lives. Evelyn cherished her husband for 61 years. Together they brought two sons into the world, Dwane M. and Paul K. Bressler, whom she looked after and tended to her entire life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Evelyn enjoyed her family, friends and people in general very much. She loved spending time and being around Joni, her buddy and make-believe daughter. She often took Joni, along with her granddaughter, LoryAnne, to do one of her favorite things, shopping, shopping and more shopping! She always looked forward to her “all girl days.”
Outside of the home, Evelyn worked at the Bank of Atchison County and the Atchison County Courthouse and considered each of her customers and co-workers as friends. She never met a stranger. Evelyn was not content unless she was fussing after “the men.” She cooked great family meals on Saturday’s and everyone attended. She lived for looking after her family.
Her grandson, Eric, was the apple of her eye. She loved listening to his and Bud’s hunting adventures, attending his sporting events and making his favorite foods. Later in life, she felt blessed to meet and be around her great-grandchildren. Boy, how she loved them! They always added a twinkle to her eye and she couldn’t have been more proud of the four of them. Evelyn was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port and Hunter’s Cemetery Association.
Survivors include her sons, Dwane M. Bressler and wife, Joni, Fairfax, Missouri, and Paul K. Bressler, Rock Port; two grandchildren, Eric D. Bressler and wife, Rebecca, Maryville, Missouri, and LoryAnne M. Daugherty and husband, Michael, Rock Port; four great-grandchildren, Drake, Ashlynn, Kinleigh and Cooper Daugherty and many, many cousins. Besides her parents, Willie J. and Ethel, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lee and Hannah Bressler, her brother-in-law, Wilbur L. Bressler and her grandson, Christopher L. Merritt.

Brown, Jennifer DeeAnn - Jennifer DeeAnn Brown, 43, passed away peacefully at LaVerna Village Nursing Home in Savannah, Missouri, on July 19, 2013.
Jennifer was born in Fairfax, Missouri, on September 20, 1969. She was the second child of Lloyd and Leola Brown.
Jennifer was a lifelong resident of Tarkio, Missouri. She graduated from Tarkio High School in 1989. After she graduated, she enjoyed attending the Indians’ basketball games for many years. She also was an avid bowler, track and field athlete, and basketball player. Jennifer received numerous awards while competing in the Special Olympics. She worked for Northwest Missouri Industries in Rock Port, Missouri, for a number of years.
Jennifer enjoyed traveling with her family. She visited Germany and Canada. Jennifer also developed a love of camping while she was in Girl Scouts. She had a good sense of humor and loved to make others laugh. Jennifer also loved dogs. She was baptized at and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tarkio.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her mother, Leola Brown; grandparents, Walter and Annie Brown and Herschel and Alverna Hopkins; and cousins, Keith Brown, Barbara Goodman, Karen Timmerman, and Bonnie Davies. Survivors include her father, Lloyd Brown, Tarkio; brother, Roger Brown, Tarkio; sister, Janice Rothganger and husband, John, Weston, Missouri; uncle, Logan Brown; aunts, LaVonne Sharp, Lucille Brown, Caroline Hopkins, and Cinita Brown; and numerous cousins and friends.
A Private Family Graveside Service and Interment will be held at a later date at Home Cemetery, Tarkio.

Buckley, Hazel L. McCampbell - Hazel L. Buckley, the daughter of Newton Nelson and Ada Mae (Good) McCampbell, was born March 7, 1924, in Gentry, Missouri. She attended Watermon Country School in Gentry and graduated from Worth High School, Worth, Missouri, in 1942. Hazel was awarded a six month scholarship at Johnson Business College in St. Joseph, Missouri, where she attended school for a year.
On April 9, 1945, Hazel was united in marriage to Maurice James Buckley in Corpus Christi, Texas. To this union, a son, James Lee was born. In 1947, they moved to St. Joseph, Missouri, where Hazel was employed by Swift and Quaker Oats. After they moved to Tarkio, Missouri, she was employed by the First National Bank for 37 years, retiring as the banks Assistant Vice-President. She also served as the City of Tarkio’s elected City Tax Collector, holding that position for 20 years, retiring in 2008. Maurice passed away in September of 1975. Hazel passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Tarkio Rehabilitation and Health Care, Tarkio, at the age of 88.
Hazel was a member of the United Methodist Church, Tarkio, where she served on the finance committee. She was a former member of the Tarkio Mule Barn Theatre Guild, the Tarkio Business Women and was a former chairman of the Northwest Missouri Women Bankers Association. Hazel also served as a board member for the Atchison County Health Center in Tarkio. She was the first woman to serve on the Tarkio Golf Club and was former treasurer and board member of the Tarkio Rough Riders. Hazel loved flowers, gardening and playing golf.
Besides her parents and husband, Maurice, Hazel was preceded in death by five brothers, Elwood, Earl, Reece, Wayne and Jim McCampbell and three sisters, May Murphy, Wilma Gray and Edith McCampbell. Survivors include son, James Lee Buckley, Tarkio; one grandson, Jesse James Buckley, Syracuse, New York; one great-grandson, Jared Buckley, Syracuse, New York; and numerous very special nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life Service: 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 8, 2013, United Methodist Church, Tarkio.

Case, Walter LeRoy "Roy" - Walter LeRoy “Roy” Case was born in Watson, Missouri on September 29, 1931 to Walter M. and Hallie F. (Gaines) Case. He was raised in the Watson and Rock Port area, and graduated from Watson High School.
In 1952 he joined the U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged in 1954.
On August 29, 1970 he married Leslee Anna Hays in Pickering, Missouri. They moved to Omaha in 1993.
Roy passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at his Omaha home at the age of 81.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Dean, and sisters, Sylvia Clodfelter and Marie Morrison.
Survivors include his wife, Leslee; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Kerry Crain of Hamburg, Iowa, Sheila and Dan Cooper of Rock Port, Bethany and Jesse Magana of Papillion, Nebraska, and Hallie and James Rodis of Bellevue, Nebraska; son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Rebekah Mortimore of North Bend, Nebraska; sisters, Faye Sowle of North Platte, Nebraska, Doris Lingerfelt of Rock Port, Marge Palmer of Knob Noster, Missouri, Jean Mensen of Rock Port, and Alice Rader of Eagle, Nebraska; brothers, Kenneth Case of Plattsmouth, Nebraska and Joe Case of Windsor, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Toby and Sommer Crain, Chelsea Cooper, Paul Mortimore, Jordan Nielsen, Sarah Hudson, Allison Rycroft, Jessica Hegge, and Jamie Rodis; two great grandchildren, Jaysen and Jayven Hudson; and special friend, Lucas McFarland of Omaha.
Services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Rock Port United Methodist Church. Family greeted friends one hour prior to services. Interment with military honors was at the High Creek Cemetery in Watson

Chambers, Margaret L. Racine - Margaret L. Chambers, the daughter of William G. and Anna Pearl (Caudle) Racine was born September 2, 1918 in Shenandoah, Iowa. Margaret attended the Lone Rock Country School in rural Shenandoah.
On November 20, 1937 Margaret was united in marriage to James Maxwell Chambers in Hiawatha, Kansas. They made their home in the Westboro, Missouri area their entire married life and became the parents of nine children. Jim passed away June 20, 1989. In 2008, Margaret moved to Tarkio where she lived to the present time. Margaret passed away Friday, July 12, 2013, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 94.
Margaret sold Avon for numerous years, was also a waitress at the Elks Club in Shenandoah and was employed by her daughter, Janice, at Ladies Apparel, Shenandoah, for 12 years. She made many return customers and long-time friends while working these jobs, retiring at the age of 85.
Margaret was a member of the Westboro United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her family, dancing, attending softball games and crocheting. Margaret made pies for the Lord’s Acre Day until she was 90, was energetic and the “best mom ever”.

Chapple, Robert W. "Bob" - Robert W. “Bob” Chapple, the son of Richard Penn and Ethel (Robinson) Chapple, was born February 17, 1932, in Corso, Missouri. He attended Salisbury High School, Salisbury Missouri, graduating in 1949. Bob then attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, where he joined the ROTC and in 1953, graduated with a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering. Following graduation, Bob was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, and proudly served his country as a pilot of an F-86 Sabrejet in the 524th Strategic Fighter Squadron during the Cold War, receiving his honorable discharge in July 1956.
On August 23, 1951, Bob was united in marriage to Marilyn Linneman in Salisbury. They became the parents of three children, Larry, Cheri, and Julie. After his honorable discharge, Bob was employed as a University of Missouri Extension Agent trainee in Fayette, Missouri, before moving to Unionville, Missouri, where he was the Putnam County Extension Agent for nine years. In 1964, they moved back to Columbia where Bob completed his Master’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering. In 1966, the family moved to Rock Port, Missouri, where he became the Atchison County Extension Director, retiring in 1999. Bob was a trusted source of information for area agriculture for over 40 years. He especially enjoyed his time working on the newest innovations at the MU Graves-Chapple Research Center and following Mizzou Tiger sports.
Bob was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port, the Rock Port Rotary Club, and many other organizations, too numerous to mention. Bob passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Liberty Terrace Healthcare and Rehabilitation, Liberty, Missouri, at the age of 81.
Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by brother, Richard Chapple and sister, Alma Remley. Survivors include wife, Marilyn, of the home, Rock Port; son, Larry Chapple and wife, Sharon, Overland Park, Kansas; daughters, Cheri Dryer and husband, Darrell, Liberty, Missouri and Julie Treloar and husband, Chris, St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Andrew Chapple and wife, Nicole, Valerie Chapple, Kent Dryer and wife, Stacy, Kirk and Kelcie Dryer, and Timothy and Susan Treloar; great-grandchildren, Catherine Chapple and Enslie, Kade and Layne Dryer; sister, Lucille Farrell, Boonville, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Christensen, Genevieve I. Boyle - Genevieve I. Christensen, the daughter of Joseph and Maud (Palmer) Boyle was born March 1, 1915, in Auburn, Nebraska. She attended Auburn High School graduating in 1933.
On May 29, 1936, Genevieve was united in marriage to Fredrick S. Christensen. They made their home in the Tarkio, Missouri area and farmed and became the parents of four children, Larry, Michael, Patrick and Sally. Fred passed away in 1974. Genevieve passed away Friday, July 5, 2013, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 98.
Genevieve was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Tarkio and the Altar Society. She was also a former member of the Homer Club and the Tarkio Garden Club.
Survivors include her children, Larry Christensen and his wife Helga, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Michael Christensen, Tarkio, Patrick Christensen, Cimmaron, Kansas, and Sally Olstad, Livermore, California. Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Fred.

Clodfelter, Sylvia Case - Sylvia (Case) Clodfelter, the daughter of Walter Marion and Hallie Faye (Gaines) Case was born April 26, 1928, in Watson, Missouri. She graduated from Watson High School in 1946. Sylvia was very competitive, enjoyed playing basketball at Watson High School and played softball many years after graduating. Sylvia could often be seen playing ball with her children in the backyard. She also enjoyed playing cards, caroms and games with her siblings and children.
On September 3, 1946, Sylvia was united in marriage to Alfred Duane Clodfelter. They became the parents of six children, Diana Marie, Russell Duane, Daniel Leroy, Kenneth Calvin, Shirley Mae and James Dean.
Sylvia was employed as a school cafeteria cook for Watson and Rock Port Schools, retiring in 1985. After her retirement, she cooked at Cherished Cherubs Daycare and later worked at Rock Port Inn in Rock Port, Missouri. Sylvia was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed babysitting her great-grandchildren until she was in her late seventies. Alfred passed away in 2003. Sylvia passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Bryan LGH Medical Center West, Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 85.
Besides her parents and husband, Alfred, Sylvia was preceded in death by daughter, Diana Marie Rivett; and siblings, Marie Morrison and Paul Dean Case. Cox, Hardin Charles, Jr - Hardin Charles Cox, Jr. was born in Rock Port, Missouri on March 4, 1928. He was one of two sons of Hardin Charles Cox Sr. and Frieda Anna (Stapel) Cox.
Hardin graduated from Rock Port High School in 1945 and entered the University of Missouri in Columbia. He played football for the Tigers and played in two bowl games, the Cotton Bowl and the Gator Bowl.
Hardin served in the United States Army from 1946 -1948, then returned to M.U. to finish his degree. He was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and two honor societies, Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) and Q.E.B.H.
He married Virginia A. “Ginny” (Heifner) in January of 1952 in Maryville, Missouri.
Hardin was called up from the Army Reserves to active duty and was sent to Korea in 1952. One of his assignments during the Korean War was serving as a front line observer near enemy lines. After Hardin returned from the Korean War he and Ginny settled in Rock Port and raised two boys, Bryan and Mark.
He was the President of Farmer’s Mutual Insurance Co. and was owner of Cox & Son Insurance Co. in Rock Port. He was elected to and served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 1965 to 1975, and elected to two terms in the Missouri Senate serving from 1975 to 1983. He served as Assistant Majority Floor Leader in the Senate, and chaired both the Ways and Means and the Banking Committees. Later he served one term as Presiding County Commissioner of Atchison County.
He was a columnist for the Atchison County Mail for over 20 years. His “Cox’s Conglomerations” won a Missouri Press Association award for Best Personal Column.
Among his many legislative accomplishments was sponsoring legislation founding the Missouri Tourism Commission. Years later the Commission honored him by naming the Visitors Center on Interstate 29 for him.
Hardin and his late wife Virginia, were long time members of the First Christian Church in Rock Port, where he enjoyed occasionally giving sermons. In the late 1950s he founded the Christmas-time God and Man Services, an ecumenical celebration that continues to this day. Hardin’s insurance and real estate office, located on Rock Port’s Main Street, allowed him to keep up with all community happenings. He was a lifelong sports fan, and followed the Rock Port Blue Jays and the Missouri Tigers.
Ginny passed away on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. Hardin passed away in Rock Port on March 8, 2013. Hardin is survived by their sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan and Rita of McLean, Virginia and Mark and Sandra of Olathe, Kansas; six grandchildren, Beth, Charlie, Eve, and Hardy Cox, Ryan MacFarlane, and Erin and her husband Jeisun Lawson; brother and sister-in-law, John Henry and Claire Cox of Kansas City; and nieces and nephews, Richard Foster, and John, Jim and Fran Cox.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Lowell “Buddy” Heifner; sister-in-law, Frances Foster; brother-in-law, E.W. Foster, and niece, Candace Foster-Hasis.
Family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions to the First Christian Church, 501 S. Market St., Rock Port, MO 64482. Services were held Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at 11:00 am at the Atchison County Memorial Building at 417 S. Main St. in Rock Port

Davis, Viola Marie Kephart Bissell - Viola Marie Davis, the daughter of Cecil and Sarah (Shepperson) Kephart, was born August 24, 1937, in Langdon, Missouri. She attended school in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, graduating in 1956.
On July 27, 1956, Viola was united in marriage to Richard Bissell. They became the parents of three children, Will, Nancy and Rodney. They later divorced. On July 12, 1985, Viola was united in marriage to Claude Davis. Claude passed away in August 2010.
Viola was a homemaker who devoted her time to raising and caring for her family. Viola passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, Missouri, at the age of 76.
Besides her parents and husband, Claude, Viola was preceded in death by son, Rodney Lee Bissell and sister, Margaret Irene Kephart. Survivors include son, Will Bissell, Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Nancy Harrington, Nashville, Tennessee; eleven grandchildren, David, Sarah, Andrew, Brian, Rebecca, Charles, Lana, Joseph, Trevor, Peter and Cody; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Driskell, Jerry Lee - Jerry Lee Driskell, the son of Virgil and Lorene (Shipley) Driskell, was born July 30, 1951, in Fairfax, Missouri. He attended Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Missouri, graduating in 1970. Jerry entered the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.
On January 9, 1972, Jerry was united in marriage to Nora Farley at the Assembly of God Church in Tarkio. They became the parents of two children, Jennifer and Jeremy. They made their home in Atchison County their entire married life.
After Jerry returned from the military, he was employed by Missouri Beef Packers, in Phelps City, Missouri, until the plant’s closing. For the next 12 years, Jerry was a farmhand for Tiemeyer Farms and then for Koch Farms for 10 years. Jerry owned and operated his own trucking business for 12 years, hauling grain for Martin Grain. He currently was employed by Pella Corporation, Shenandoah, Iowa, where he recently received recognition for his 10 years of service. Jerry was also very active in helping inform area youth about hunter safety education and helped with many youth hunting events. Jerry passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Community Hospital Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 62.
Besides his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by grandson, Logan Driskell. Dukes, Cleo Laverne - Cleo Laverne Dukes was born on April 5, 1931, to Fred Lee and Myrtle (Auten) Dukes. He was the seventh of seven children and grew up on a farm east of Hopkins, Missouri. He attended country schools and graduated from Sheridan, Missouri High School. Cleo then served his country in the United States Army from January 23, 1952 to January 22, 1954.
On May 16, 1954, Cleo was united in marriage to Mary Lou Pursell in Bedford, Iowa. They became the parents of two daughters, Debra and Lynn. Cleo farmed near Westboro, Missouri, then moved to Greeley, Colorado, where he worked as a supervisor at a meat processing business. The family then returned to Tarkio, Missouri, where Cleo was instrumental in building Missouri Beef Packers and was also employed as a foreman when it opened. He then worked in beef packing plants in Corpus Christi, Texas, and Friona, Texas, before he retired from Monfort Beef Plant in Grand Island, Nebraska, in 1996. They returned to Tarkio, Missouri, and lived there to the present time.
Cleo enjoyed gardening, woodworking and visiting with people. His greatest joy was his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cleo was an ordained deacon and taught Sunday school at the Tarkio First Baptist Church. Cleo passed away Monday, November 25, 2013, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri.
Besides his parents, Cleo was preceded in death by brothers, Fae, Rex and Denzel Dukes; and sisters, Rachel Cox, Clara Holker and Eva Fine. Survivors left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Mary Lou, Tarkio; children, Debra Sybert and husband, Lloyd, Sidney, Nebraska and Lynn Stevens, Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Heidi Rivord, Heath Sybert, Tabitha Stevens and Aaron Stevens; great-grandchildren, Teesha and Lars Sybert, Matthew Rivord, Hailie Turner, Cody Yates, Taylor and Tanner Sybert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graham, Kimberly A. - Kimberly A. Graham, the daughter of Dennis Eugene and Rosella Jane (Campbell) Graham was born November 21, 1973, in Fairfax, Missouri. She attended Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, graduating in 1992.
Kim enjoyed landscaping and floral design in the Auburn, Nebraska, area, as well as Nebraska football and nascar. Most of all, she enjoyed being a mother and grandmother. Kim passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013, at her home in Auburn, at the age of 40.
Kim was preceded in death by her grandfather's, Don Graham and Marion Campbell; and uncle, Dale Graham. Grebe, Jimmie Dale - Jimmie Dale Grebe, the son of James M. and Emma Marie (Christian) Grebe was born September 13, 1935, in Rock Port, Missouri. He attended Tarkio High School, graduating in 1953.
On August 12, 1956, Jimmie was united in marriage to Betty Jane Campbell at the United Methodist Church in Tarkio, Missouri. They made their home in Tarkio and Fairfax, Missouri, before moving to St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1962, where they lived to the present time.
Jimmie was employed by the Missouri Highway Department of Transportation for 44 years, retiring September 1, 1997. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Gower, Missouri. Betty passed away August 16, 2009. Jimmie passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, at the age of 78.
Besides his parents and wife, Jimmie was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Raymond Grebe. Survivors include children, Susan Burton and husband, Danny, Tim Grebe and wife, Janey, all of St. Joseph, and Janie Baker and husband, Ken, Gower; grandchildren, Brandi Viestenz, Angie Kowalewycz and husband, Chris, Ashlee Grebe, J.D. Greene, Gary M. -Gary M. Greene, the son of Clarence Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Tharp) Greene, was born July 3, 1954, in Centerville, Iowa. Gary graduated from Moravia High School, Moravia, Iowa.
Following graduation, Gary was employed by the railroad and for a brick manufacturing company. In 1975, he began logging and started his own logging business in 1977, which operated until the present time.
On November 21, 1980, Gary was united in marriage to Joan Cooper in St. Joseph, Missouri. They made their home in Rock Port their entire married life.
Gary was a member and Elder of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Tarkio, Missouri. Gary passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013, at his home in Rock Port at the age of 59.
Besides his parents, Gary was preceded in death by brother, Stan Greene. Hall, Winona Mae Cooper - Winona Mae (Cooper) Hall, the daughter of Herbert and Edith (Rosenbohm) Cooper, was born August 12, 1923, at home in rural Langdon, Missouri. She was baptized, confirmed and married in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Langdon. Winona attended Langdon grade school and graduated from Rock Port High School in 1941. She then attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska for one semester. She returned to Rock Port and was employed at the Bank of Atchison County.
On June 17, 1945, Winona was united in marriage to Earle M. Hall. They made their home on the family farm twelve miles north of Rock Port. In 1969, they moved into Rock Port where she lived until 2011, when she became a resident of Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port. Winona passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Pleasant View Nursing Home at the age of 90.
Winona and Earle celebrated 57 years together before his death in 2002. She was a full-time homemaker and farm wife. She loved working in her yard and flowers. As a couple, they were both very active with the Navigator Ministries. The highlight of their life was introducing Jesus to people and leading them through the scriptures. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Westboro, Missouri.
Besides her parents, Winona was preceded in death by her husband, Earle, a sister, Mary Louise Meyerkorth, brothers-in-law, Ben and John Hall, and nephew, Benjamen Hall III. Hardy, Judith Ann "Judy" Lossman - Judith Ann (Judy) Hardy, the daughter of Frank Foster and Mary Rose (Shaull) Lossman, was born February 23, 1943, in Tiffin, Ohio. The family moved to the Tarkio area when she was three years old. Judy attended Centerview Country School, east of Tarkio, Missouri, graduating from Tarkio High School in 1961.
On June 10, 1961, Judy was united in marriage to John L. Hardy at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Tarkio. They made their home in the Tarkio area and became the parents of three children, Mary Ann, Teresa and Barb.
Judy was a farmer’s wife, who devoted her time to raising and taking care of her family and helping on the family farm. She was also employed by Northwest Missouri Learning Center and was a home health care aid for the elderly in the local Tarkio area. She retired after 18 years, as a para professional from the Tarkio School system. Judy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tarkio. John passed away January 13, 2008. Judy passed away passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 70.
Besides her parents and husband, Judy was preceded in death by brother, Wayne Lossman. Survivors include daughters, Mary Ann Hull and husband, Bill, Teresa Shaw and husband, Mike, and Barb Lee and husband, Bill, all of Tarkio; grandchildren, Krystal Anderson and her husband, Ryan, and their children, Cole and Brody Anderson, all of McFall, Missouri, Keaton and Connor Shaw and Megan and Brooke Lee, all of Tarkio; siblings, Larry Lossman, Bill Lossman, Frank “Bud” Lossman, Ron Lossman, Donna K. Ireland, Ed Lossman, and Joanne Cassidy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harmon, Gladys Belle Chastain - Gladys Belle Harmon, the daughter of Orville Franklin and Theresa (Smith) Chastain, was born October 10, 1924, in Rock Port, Missouri and attended the Red Star country school north of Rock Port.
On November 22, 1943, Gladys was united in marriage to George Edward Harmon at the Rock Port United Methodist Church. They made their home in Rock Port where Gladys was a homemaker and raised her three children; Shirley, Stanley and Michael. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Rock Port. Gladys passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Grape Community Hospital, in Hamburg, Iowa at the age of 89.
Besides her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by one son, Michael Harmon; six brothers, Allen, Gene, Carroll, Jimmy and two brothers who died as small children; three sisters, Esther Lingerfelt, Faye Morrison, and an infant sister, Roseann. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Stevens and husband, Walter, Watson, Missouri; son, Stanley Harmon, Sr. and his wife, Betty, Rock Port; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Phyllis Rhoades, Fairfax, Missouri.

Harrington, William E. "Bill" - William E. “Bill” Harrington, 84, of Tarkio, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013 at the Community Hospital in Fairfax.
Bill was born in Cowetta, Okla. on May 26, 1929. He graduated from Rock Port High School, and then served overseas in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. On June 30, 1950 Bill married Delores Smith in Rock Port, and they became parents of two children. Bill farmed in Atchison County all his life.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Bob and Lula (Smith) Harrington. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Delores, of their Tarkio home; daughters Laurie Rockhill, Kansas City, Mo. and Merri Lea Hubbard, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; granddaughter, Cristin (Dustin) Walters, Independence, Mo.; nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
Services were held on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at 3:00 pm at the Rock Port United Methodist Church. Family greeted friends at the church from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Interment with military rites was held at Grange Hall Cemetery in Rock Port. Memorials may be directed to the Grange Hall Cemetery Association or Hearts United for Animals shelter in Auburn, Nebraska

Hecker, Lois Verlene Taylor - Lois Verlene Hecker, the daughter of Vernie E. and Mildred Faye (Wennihan) Taylor, was born August 24, 1929, in Fairfax, Missouri. She attended Fairfax High School, graduating in 1947.
On September 30, 1948, Lois was united in marriage to Robert Dean Hecker at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in St. Joseph, Missouri. They became the parents of two children, Larry and Debbie.
Bob and Lois moved to Nishnabotna, Missouri, in 1953, and later moved to Fairfax in 1984. Lois was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. She was also an avid bowler for many years. Lois was a member of the Social Hour Club, in Nishnabotna, and was recently recognized as a 50 year member of the Ralph Greer American Legion Auxiliary of Rock Port, Missouri. Bob passed away March 7, 2002. Lois passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, at the age of 84.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Survivors include son, Larry D. Hecker and wife, Patty, Fairfax; daughter, Debbie K. Johnson and husband, Gary, Fairfax; grandchildren, Beverly King and husband, Chris, Tarkio, Missouri, Bill Hecker, St. Joseph, Missouri, Katy Beth Smith and husband, Zac, Fairfax, Clay Johnson and wife, Tiffany, Craig, Missouri, and Brett Johnson, Fairfax; great-grandchildren, Josie King, Chance Hecker, Tatem Johnson, Lane Johnson and Brylie Johnson; and numerous cousins.

Hendrix, Don C. - Don C. Hendrix, the son of Hovie Hutchens and Ida Mae (Starcher) Hendrix, was born June 14, 1930, in Knoxville, Missouri. He attended school in Knoxville and Stet, Missouri, graduating in 1947. On February 15, 1952, Don entered the United States Army and served his country overseas in Okinawa, Japan.
On July 5, 1952, Don was united in marriage to Shirley Jane Miller in Knoxville, Missouri. After Don’s honorable discharge from the United States Army on January 26, 1954, they moved to Breckenridge, Missouri, where they became the parents of two daughters, Teri and Gayle. Don was employed by Green Hills Telephone Company in Breckenridge, from 1954 to 1961. In 1961, they moved to Auxvasse, Missouri, where Don managed Kingdom Telephone Company. They moved to Rock Port, Missouri, in 1965, and Don managed the Rock Port Telephone Company, until retiring in 1992. Shirley passed away January 25, 2005. Don passed away Monday, January 14, 2013, at the University Of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 82.
Don was community minded and cared deeply for Rock Port. He was a former youth girls softball coach and an instructor in the “Future Golfers” youth program. After his retirement, Don enjoyed going to the Rock Port Telephone Annual meetings and Christmas Party, helping at the Country Club, Blue Jay Relays, the Church, or anywhere he was needed. In his spare time, he loved to golf, work in the garden, attend Rock Port Blue Jay football games, and go visit his grandkids and daughters and help with any job in their job jar. Don was a member of the Rock Port United Methodist Church, Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49 of Rock Port, Rock Port Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge #334 AF & AM in Breckenridge, and the Rock Port Golf and Country Club.
Besides his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley. Survivors include daughters Teri Gallagher and husband, Joseph, Riverside, California, and Gayle Flynn and husband, Dennis, Dyer, Indiana; three grandchildren, Clinton Dougherty and wife, Mackenzie, and Donald Flynn and Megan Flynn; three step-grandchildren, Victoria and Teddy Flynn and Samuel Harlib; two great-grandchildren, Audrey and Isaac Dougherty; and a host of friends.

Hunt, Barbara A. Anderson - Barbara A. (Anderson) Hunt, daughter of Clyde L. and Mabel L. (McKee) Anderson, was born January 30, 1924, in Marshalltown, Iowa. She attended Clarinda High School, Clarinda, Iowa, graduating in 1942. She then attended Northwest Missouri State Teachers College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1946.
On May 20, 1950, Barbara was united in marriage to Charles Jackson “Jack” Hunt. They became the parents of two children, Lori and Hal, and made their home in the Rock Port, Missouri, area.
Barbara was employed as the Vocational Home Economics teacher at Rock Port High School from 1946-1951. From 1966-1987, she was employed as a social worker, serving as County Director for the Division of Family Services and Atchison County Welfare offices.
Barbara was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and the Kappa Omicron Phi Sorority. Jack passed away in (1973). Barbara passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas, at the age of 89.
Besides her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by brother, James C. Anderson. Survivors include daughter, Lori Weiss and husband, Don, Olathe, Kansas; son, Hal Hunt and wife, Cheryl, Leawood, Kansas; grandchildren, Chris Weiss and his wife, Stephanie, and their children, Eva and Murphy Weiss, Jeff Weiss and his wife, Maida Sussman-Weiss, and their son, Dashiell Weiss, Sarah Randall Hunt and Lauren E. Husing, Angela Gail - Angela Gail Husing, the daughter of C.E. “Buddy” and Diana Pearl (Bradley) Husing, was born July 14, 1965, in Fairfax, Missouri. She attended Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, and was a member of the Class of 1983.
On April 4, 1981 she was united in marriage to Michael Avrett. They became the parents of two children, Tasha and Chris. They later divorced.
Angela later moved to the Dallas, Texas, area where her third child, Ashlyn was born.
Angela was employed at the YMCA as an Emergency Services Training Director in Las Colinas, Texas. She helped every year to organize the Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot. Health issues forced her to retire in 2012.
Angela loved her family and friends. She was very proud of her kids and grandkids. Seeing others happy is what made her happy. She was a bit stubborn and always told it like it is, but always made everyone laugh. Angela loved to have a good time.
Angela passed away Monday, July 22, 2013, at Baylor Regional Medical Center, Grapevine, Texas, at the age of 48.
Survivors include children, Tasha Quimby and husband, Ryan, Maryville, Missouri, Chris Avrett and wife, Bonnie, Tarkio, Missouri, and Ashlyn Annis, Coppell; mother, Diana Husing and significant other, Paul Platter, Shubert, Nebraska; father, C.E “Buddy” Husing and wife, Pam, Rock Port; five grandchildren, Kiersten and Alyssa Quimby, Maryville, Kelsey and Katie Avrett, and Madison Quattrocchi, all of Tarkio; brother, Travis Husing and wife, Sarah, Maryville; and nephews, Sawyer and Trayton Husing, Maryville.

Kemper, Ellen Darlene Larabee -
Ellen Darlene Kemper was born Jan. 11, 1931 in Blanchard, MO, the daughter of Harold and Verda (Younger) Larabee. She passed away on Tuesday morning, June 11 at The Ambassador Care Center in Sidney at the age of 82 years and 5 months.
Darlene grew up in northwest Missouri and southwest Iowa where she attended various schools. She enjoyed playing the guitar and basketball. She graduated as salutatorian of her class from Northboro High School in 1949. On April 9, 1950, Easter Sunday, she was united in marriage to Dale Ebert Kemper at St. John's Lutheran Church at Westboro, Missouri. This union was blessed with four children; Kirk, Derek, Rawn and Darla.
She was a homemaker, raising her four children and helping Dale on the farm. She also worked for Iowa Finance, Henry Fields and Wal-Mart. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Westboro, Missouri where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a 4-H leader, loved to cook, gardening and canning the goods that she raised and loved watching cardinals while working outdoors. Darlene's greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved all of her family and looks forward to seeing them again in heaven.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale in 2009; and a brother-in-law, Virgil Hein.

Kerr, Frances Fay Curry - Surrounded by her loving family, Frances Fay (Curry) Kerr, 79, of Warsaw, Missouri, returned home to the Lord on April 13th, 2013. Frances bravely fought to survive COPD for many years, but succumbed to lung cancer in the end.
Frances was born in Fairfax, Missouri, on June 23, 1933, to Bert and Flossie (Baker) Curry. She attended Fairview Country school grades K through 6, then Rock Port Junior and Senior High Schools, Rock Port, Missouri. After graduating from high school Frances attended college at Northwest Missouri State Teachers College. She moved to Omaha, Nebraska, and started working for Mutual of Omaha as a keypunch operator. Upon his return from the Korean War, she married the love of her life, Carl Eugene 'Gene' Kerr on December 18th, 1955. They settled in Rock Port, Missouri, where Frances initially was employed at the REA, and then later she was Gene's partner in a number of business ventures including the IGA grocery store, known as "Kerr's IGA." She was also the bookkeeper for Trails End for a short period of time, and for the sporting goods and liquor store known to generations as the ''Bait & Bottle''. Their union was blessed with three children, Carla, Dennis and Kirby, and they had a wonderful life together for fifty-seven and a half years.
Frances was also renowned for her seamstress skills and her peers often marveled that, "her daughter never wore the same dress twice to kindergarten." Gene and Frances relocated to Warsaw, Missouri, in 1987, upon Gene's promotion to Postmaster for the Warsaw office. They continued to live in Warsaw upon Gene's retirement from the post office. Frances and Gene enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing, traveling, and in retirement crafting together. She was famous for her crocheted items and needle point, everyone that knew them had a lifetime supply of nylon dish scrubbers.
Frances was member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and enjoyed outings and events with her sorority sisters up until her illness kept her from being able to. She loved her family and friends and they loved her. She was especially proud of her husband, children, and grandchildren, often telling others that, "she had the best family anyone could ask for." She was a woman of strong personal faith, and her struggle to overcome obstacles was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Flossie (Baker) Curry; brothers, Paul (died in childhood) and Russell; sisters, Juanita (died in childhood), Helen Slater, Delores Nace, Nadine Dappen and Betty Yungschlager. She is survived by her soul mate, Gene; sister, Darlene Banasik; brother-in-law, Harry Yungschlager; sister-in-law, Joan Bucy; daughter, Carla [Rory] Mason; and sons, Dennis [Jacqueline] and Kirby [Whitney]; grandsons, Zachary Kerr and Derek Mason; granddaughters, Christina Kerr, Sara Mason, Jennifer Kerr and Kaitlyn Kerr; and many nieces and nephews.

King, Doris B. Asbury -
Doris B. King was born on February 28, 1928, the daughter of James Blair and Essie Myra (McCartney) Asbury.
On September 27, 1947 she married Ray “Ozzie” King, Jr. in Rock Port. The Kings made their home in Rock Port until moving to Westboro in 1951. They returned to Rock Port in 1986.
Doris worked as a cook at Tarkio College, the Hen House restaurant, and the Rock Port Nutrition Site. She and Ozzie also owned and operated a café in Westboro. She attended the Grace Church.
Doris passed away on Tuesday, Janurary 15, 2013 at her Rock Port home at the age of 84.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, James Asbury; and sisters, Wilma Marrs and Lola Davenport.
Survivors include her son, Jim King of Westboro; daughters, Donna Baker and Karen Perry of Lincoln, Alabama; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Grace Church in Rock Port. Family will greet friends following the services, at the church. Inurnment will be held at Greenhill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Rock Port Nutrition Site

Knapp, Norma Gerdes - Norma Knapp, the daughter of Edward Fritzhenry and Gertrude Tina (Rebel) Gerdes, was born July 18, 1930, in Craig, Missouri. She attended Craig High School, graduating in 1948.
On March 17, 1951, Norma was united in marriage to Joseph Frederick Knapp, in Bentonville, Arkansas. They became the parents of Linda, Jim, John, Jess, Randy, Cyndi, Julie and Jodie and made their home in the Craig, Missouri and Omaha, Nebraska areas. In 2010, Norma moved to Falls City, Nebraska, due to health issues.
Norma loved to cook and was employed as a cook at Trails End, Rock Port, Missouri, and in restaurants in the Craig and Omaha areas. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, solving jigsaw puzzles and playing bingo. Fred passed away January 1, 1978. Norma passed away Monday, November 25, 2013, at Careage Estates, Falls City, at the age of 83.
Besides her parents and husband, Norma was preceded in death by grandson, Jason Knapp; daughter-in-law, Becki Knapp; and son-in-law, James Fentiman. Survivors include eight children, Linda David and husband, Tom, Asher, Oklahoma, Jim Knapp, Rapid City, South Dakota, Johnny Knapp, Kansas City, Missouri, Jess Knapp, Randy Knapp and wife, Tammy, all of Craig, Cyndi Knapp, Commerce City, Colorado, Julie Fentiman, Rock Port, and Jodie Olberding and husband, Tom, Falls City; grandchildren, Joseph Yates, Jim and Jill Knapp, Stephanie Cantu, Jed Knapp, Makala Bradbury, Jake Knapp, Logan Hinkle, Michael Dunn, Joseph Dunn and Jocelyn Olberding; numerous great-grandchildren; and step granddaughters, Brandi and Tori Olberding.

Levings, Clint Ross - Clint Ross Levings, the son of Herbert Joseph and Ora Roselle (Mefford) Levings, was born November 25, 1919 in Paris, Missouri. Clint graduated from the Public Schools of Monroe County in Paris Missouri in 1937. Clint then attended Missouri University, Columbia, Missouri studying for a degree in agriculture.
On November 30, 1941 Clint was united in marriage to Elnor Fern Dooley in Hannibal, Missouri.
On September 21, 1942, Clint entered the United States Army Air Force and served his country during World War II as a Link Training Instructor, teaching pilots to fly using only instruments. Clint received his honorable discharge on January 11, 1946 and returned to Missouri University to complete his Agricultural Degree in 1947.
In 1947 they moved to Rock Port where Clint was employed as a balanced farming agent with the University of Missouri Extension Office. That same year Clint started Levings Construction. In 1973, his son Roger joined him and operated the business together until Clint retired in 2008. While working as a contractor, he was the recipient of an award for “Missouri Conservation Contractor of the Year” in 1965. The award stated “ Clint was a pioneer of conservation work in its infancy, through his conscientious efforts, quality work and honesty, conservation has become a reliable occupation for many men.”
Elnor passed away in 2009. Clint passed away Friday, May 31, 2013, at Tarkio Rehabilitation and Health Care, Tarkio at the age of 93.
Clint was a member of the United Methodist Church, Tarkio and a Charter Member of the Land Improvement Contractor Association. Clint and Elnor were avid supporters of the community. One of Clint’s favorite activities was the Tarkio Fly-In. For many years, he flew his plane, giving rides to all who asked. He loved to follow his grandchildren’s activities, and delighted in being called “Gramps” by his great-granddaughters.
Besides his parents and wife Elnor, Clint was preceded in death by one brother, Harry Levings and his wife Rebecca. Survivors include his son, Roger L. Levings and his wife Kenna, Tarkio; grandchildren, Eric Levings and his wife Mandy, Kansas City, Missouri and Kristy Levings, Lincoln, Nebraska; great granddaughters, Ally Katherine and Ava Lynn Levings, and numerous friends.

Long, Kenneth Junior - Kenneth Junior Long was born in Hamburg, Iowa, on August 3, 1924 he passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013, in Rock Port, Missouri. Junior was the son of Kenneth Omar Long and Mabel Marie (Brought) Long. He had one brother Norman (Stub) Long.
The Long family moved to Rock Port in 1935 and Junior attended Rock Port Schools until 1942 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. During his first enlistment he was assigned to Company C of the 90th Infantry Training Battalion 19th Regiment. He served in the Asian Pacific Theater of Operations from March 1944 - October 1944. He was honorably discharged from this period of service on February 13, 1946.
After two years of civilian life Junior once again enlisted in the U.S. Army and was assigned to an Engineering Battalion. Although he obligated himself for 3 years he was the lucky recipient of an involuntary one year extension courtesy of the North Koreans and President Harry Truman. This enlistment covered the time period of March 26, 1948 through March 29, 1952 he then received his second honorable discharge.
Military decorations include: Good Conduct Medal (2), Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon, American Theatre Campaign Ribbon, Victory Ribbon with one overseas bar, Army of Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal with 5 Service Stars.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents, his brother (Stub), wife (Betty), and two daughters Kelly and Jackie. He is survived by his son Jeff Long and wife Linda; grandchildren; Cara Davis, Josh Long, Matthew Carder, Troy Hale, Jason Long, Okema Hale, Julie Long, Daryn Bennett, and Aaron Bennett; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Lowrance, Barbara A. Giggar - Barbara A. Lowrance, 42, Hopkins, Missouri, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, Missouri.
Barbara was born September 19, 1970, in Maryville to Edward Eugene and Margaret Louise (Davis) Giggar. She had worked as an Aid in nursing homes in Nodaway County.
Survivors include: one son Ellis Maxwell, Jr. (DJ), Shenandoah, Iowa, two brothers Robert Eugene Giggar, Albany, Missouri, Timothy Allen Giggar, Yorktown, IA, mother Margaret Louise Giggar, Gentry, Missouri, Father Edward Eugene Giggar, Conception Junction, Missouri, aunts, uncles, cousins and several friends.
Miss Lowrance has been cremated. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Miriam Cemetery, Maryville
