Death of Samuel King - A great many of our citizens were startled on last Sunday morning when it was announced that Samuel King was no more; for there were a great many who had not heard of his illness and others who had not considered the probability of its terminating fatally. About one week before his death he was taken with that dreadful disease typhoid pneumonia, and although he was possessed of a good consitution, he fell before the destroyers hand. All that medical skill could do was done, as Dr J.Y. Bird was the attending physician. But all to no avail, his spirit passed away about three o'clock Sunday morning, April 9th, and he was buried the following day at two pm in the Hunter burial ground.
Deceased was a son of our much esteemed, Uncle Billy King, who lives about two and one-half miles south of this place. Samuel, at the time of his death was living on what is known as the Lentz farm, about 4 and one-half miles south of here. He leaves a wife and one child, father, mother, and several brothers and sisters to mourn his loss. The relatives all have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community, in this their hour of anguish and grief.
Deceased was a member of the I.O.O.F. of this place, but owning to the limited amount of time necessary to make preparation for a burial, it was though best not to have the Order bury him.
