NOTES:
Henry County, Kentucky Will Book 2 page 143: |
Alexander Shields - Agreeable to an order of the Henry County Court in June 1814 we the undersigned names being appointed to appraise the estate of Alexander Shields Deceased proceeded in the following manner to wit: --- The document was completed by saying, "This day came before me and was sworn accordingly Morgan Bryant John Perkins and James Tucker this 11 day of November 1814." The appraisal was immediately followed by a bill of sale, dated January 2, 1815, of all of the items to "the highest bidder" being in every case Nancy Shields, for $44.77 1/2. The bill of sale also contained an amendment to the appraisal "to wit: ten head of hogs (illegible) $25.00." Nancy did not purchase the hogs, although she bought ten sheep, one cow and calf, and a "Bareshear plow and double-tree." |
