My name is Jerre Johnson Robertson.  I live in Missouri and I have been corresponding with Pat Odell about my relatives.  My Johnson ancestors were pioneers from Atchison County, Missouri.  I have been researching my family off and on for the past 25 years.  Several years back, I hit a brick wall when researching my great-great grandfather, Cyrus Johnson.  You are probably asking yourself about now, how does this relate to you?  Well, my family MAY BE connected to your Sarah Johnson Davenport.
I have been trying to obtain proof that Sarah Johnson's father, James Johnson, was also the father of my Cyrus Johnson.  I have circumstantial evidence of the connection but no concrete proof yet.
There are various other "distant" Johnson relatives who, for years, have been trying to research the Johnson line from Atchison county, MO.  We all get to a certain points and then hit brick walls.
Recently I uncovered a deed, dated 15 Nov 1862, between Marshall Davenport and Amanda Davenport, his wife, of Atchison  county, MO and Cyrus Johnson
I have run across the Johnson/Davenport connection before when I found the marriage record for Sarah Johnson and Andrew Davenport 26 Jul 1857 in Atchison County, MO: Source information-Vol. A page 105 Atchison County, Missouri Marriage Book.  It is extremely important to document your findings with source information.
The following is some brief information about James Johnson (Please note: my research in a work in progress):

The following is Cyrus' obituary:
Atchison County Mail, August 21, 1903 Friday:
"Died, Saturday, August 15, Cyrus Johnson of Mount Pleasant neighborhood.  Mr. Johnson died from blood poisoning, superinduced by a scratch from barb-wire.  Four days before his death, in lifting a sack of corn over a gate, he pricked his wrist with one barb.  The wound did not bleed and no attention was paid to the matter.  In a few days blood poisoning set in, with the above result.  Mr. Johnson was a Kentuckian by birth, and was an old settler in this community.  He was aged 73 years.  The funeral services were held at the home of the deceased, conducted by Rev. Philippi.  Interment at Hunter Cemetery."
Note: that it states "Mr. Johnson was a Kentuckian by birth..."  this has always been part of the mystery surrounding Cyrus because all the census records say he was born in Indiana.  The Cyrus from Carroll county, MO says his father was born in Ohio.
