Mrs Mary E. Laird Dies: Americus--Mrs Mary Ellen Laird died at 1 o'clock this morning at the home of her son, Edward Laird, three miles north of Americus.
Mrs Laird was born Feb 15, 1860, in Missouri, the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs John Combs. She married Thomas Laird, a Union soldier, who died in 1915.
She is survived by two sons, John William Laird, of Moultrie, Ga; Edward Arthur Laird, of Americas; three stepchildren, Charles Thomas and Elmer Thomas, of Potwin, and Mrs Fannie Thompson, of Salina; 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs Flora Bell Womack were held Wednesday afternoon from the First Christian church here conducted by Rev E.E. Watson, pastor, assisted by Bro. W.P. Dennis, Church of Christ minister.
Deceased passed away here Tuesday, September 9, after a year illness. She was 74 years old and had been a resident of Love County for many years. She was a member of the Christian church, having become affiliated at the age of 17 and was a faithful member and her church was first in her life.
Burial was made in the Cooke County cemetery at Gainesville with all arrangements in charge of the Burton Funeral Home.
Survivords include two sons, Mont and Onard of this city; four daughter, Mrs Tom Starritt and Mrs Ray Wilson, of this city; Mrs W.H. Ware of Gainesville, and Mrs Floyd Aglin of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Mrs Alice Henson of this city; Mrs Ella Laird, Potwin, Kansas; Mrs Frances Cotten, of San Diego, Calif, and one brother, Will Combs of Pasadena, Calif. Funeral rites for Mrs Alice Henson were conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Goodrich Funeral Chapel with the Rev D.E. Aden, pastor of the First Christian church, officiating.
Mrs Henson died Tuesday morning in a Noble convalescent home following an illness of ten years.
She was born July 3, 1869 in Missouri and she and her husband, the late Tom Henson, lived in Gainesville for 35 years were he owned and operated a cafe. Mrs Henson moved to Marietta in 1927 and made her home with her niece, Mrs Ray Wilson, for a number of years.
She had been a member of the Christian church for 70 years.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs Frances Cottew of San Diego, Calif, and several nieces and nephews including Mrs Ray Wilson and Mont Womack of Marietta.
