Teter Cemetery

Location: TETER CEMETERY is located between College Mound and Excello on Hwy. T in Chariton Township on the old Isaac Teter farm. To get there, take Hwy. 63 to Hwy. T and turn west. Go five miles. The cemetery sign is a small board painted white with black letters on the north side of Hwy. T. Look carefully or you might miss it. Turn north on a dirt road and follow it to the cemetery. In the summer, brush may be knee-high so be alert for ticks and other crawlies. The cemetery is nestled among some pine trees. Notice a semi-circular rut going through the cemetery. It is an old trail that Buffalo once used in Macon County.
Many of the stones are no longer in existence and some are in poor condition. Therefore, some of the dates listed here are dates preserved since 1947 by Frank Dooley and given to descendants of the Teter families.
