HICKORY COUNTIANS IN WORLD WAR II
The 764 names listed below represent people "connected" to Hickory County in some way who served (either as civilians or military personnel) during World War II. Information in black type came from the World War II Army Enlistment Records File, accessed via the National Archives digital records project . All Army personnel who gave "Hickery" [sic] county, Missouri as their "permanent residence" are included below. Information in blue type came from newspaper clippings from The Index which were collected in 1943 and 1944 by Mrs. Florence McKinley. The notes in red come from various sources. Note that the people in both sets of records did not necessarily ever LIVE in Hickory County, and it is undoubtedly NOT a comprehensive list of Hickory Countians who participated in the war.
To save space, I've used a few abbreviations. M/M = Mr. & Mrs.; dau = daughter; SS board = Selective Service board; gs = grandson; grad = graduated from; bro = brother; prob = probably.
Please send additions, corrections and additional notes to Ginny Sharp for inclusion in this table.
